This really saddens me as Bayonetta 2 is already hands down my favorite game on the Wii U (just like how Bayonetta was my favorite game on the Xbox 360, so that wasn't much of a surprise). I feel that it's both Nintendo and the consumer's faults. While I highly respect Nintendo for actually attempting to advertise the game on TV in America, the commercial was exclusive to Adult Swim between midnight to 5:00 in the morning. They didn't put online banners on websites or tell the Miiverse community about the game even when it was released. With very little advertising, no wonder it's not selling very well. It's also the consumer's fault since a majority of Nintendo gamers are most focused towards famous 1st party games such as Mario, Zelda, Smash, or Tomodachi Life/Animal Crossing. Nintendo of America's Youtube page has posted several Bayonetta 2 videos to hype their fans but according to view count, those videos can't reach past 400,000, sometimes not even 100,000 (minus the E3 2013 video). Take a look at a trailer of a new Mario, Zelda, or Smash video and they can reach over 1,000,000 views easily. Platinum Games really tried to peak some Nintendo gamer's interests by adding Nintendo themed costumes too but even that didn't help. Nintendo gamer's have been more and more niche over the years which also is a part of why we don't have third party support on the Wii U. I hate to admit it, but Bayonetta 2 has become another example of Nintendo trying to do things differently but failing because of terrible marketing and lack of interest in the fan base. (I hate to be so negative but this honestly does kind of upset me. :/ )
