It's almost Halloween and instead of dishing out handfuls of sweets, No Gravity Games is once again seizing the opportunity to give away a selection of its games for free in the upcoming 'Chills and Thrills' event — whether that is a trick or a treat depends on your opinion of the games themselves.
The giveaway begins tomorrow, 25th October, and will run through until 31st October, with one free game being given away each day. It's also worth noting from the get-go that this offer applies to North American eShop accounts only.
In order to take part in the event, all that you need to do is have any game published by No Gravity Games downloaded on your NA Switch account (and that includes the free game that can be redeemed by signing up for the studio's newsletter). Once you have one, No Gravity Games' chosen game for that day will appear on the eShop completely free.
As usual, the event works on a chain basis so you need to have redeemed each day's freebie in order to get the next one for free. The selected games will be available at a reduced price if you have broken your streak, so you can always purchase the missing game if you want to get back on the giveaway chain.
We will keep this page updated with the available free game each day throughout the event and you can check out all those that were given away last Christmas for an idea of the quality that is likely to be on offer.
More information on the 'Chills and Thrills' event can be found on the No Gravity Games website.
Will you be taking part in this event? Are there any games that you hope to see pop up? Let us know in the comments.

Two words ...
(North America)
As a European citizen, the answer is: No. Apparently.
I have an American account alongside my European one (and a Japanese one) so I could probably download these. Question is if I'd want to.
@Yosher Don't discount games just because they are free, or very cheap otherwise. I have had many good laughs with a lot of giveaways. Some games, especially the local coop games, are well worth it.
"Picklock" is one of my favs from that publisher (the rest were so-so, but that is subjective).
I have spent more time considering whether I would want these free games than I would ever be willing to actually play them.
NO BODY WANTS THEM!!! BWAHAHAHAAHAHA
NICE TRICK NO GRAVITY GAMES!!!
@Daniel36 That's totally fair, I just recall that often times when free games like these are given out, I see lots of comments that are like WELL ALL THESE GAMES ARE BAD SO I WOULDN'T EVEN WANT THEM FOR FREE, or you know, stuff of that nature.
I've been at work so I haven't had time to check out their selection of games yet, will do that later and base my decision on that!
Its free, so grab them, our friends across the pond!
Definitely a Trick! These free game giveaways seems to be aimed at getting all of a publisher's games to fill the download charts for a few weeks, as that page seems to be only interested in download figures and not how much was spent on each entry. Evidently being on the download charts is worth the cost of a handful of games, since there's practically no other way to get your games to stand out on the eShop.
@Toothball or if you buy a game they probably break even giving rest away. Any other sales is icing for developers. There is nothing wrong with advertising schemes…
That being said, is there 1 game worth buying to get 7 random shovelware’s for free?
@Toothball I'm pretty sure the eshop changed it a while ago so nothing under $2 counts toward purchase numbers, though I'm not sure how it counts these conditional sales/giveaways.
Of the games I've gotten from them that fit the Halloween theme, I'd say the best is probably Alder's Blood. Creepy Tale also has a pretty cool visual style, though the gameplay lands in a kinda weird spot between adventure and puzzle platformer, so it's probably not for everyone.
The thing with this giveaways are that you can always guess which games will be given based on what games are not currently on sale...which right now are the following ones:
Body of Evidence
Connection Haunted
Creepy Tale
Creepy Tale 2
Dream Alone
Inner Voices
Nonograms Prophecy
Pandemic Shooter
Nothing particularly amazing, nonograms is a really bad picross clone, the rest seem to be morbid horror and dark humor fare ...but a few of them have not been given away before.
@Yomerodes Last I heard Nonograms isn't even beatable due to a UI glitch.
Some of these games look pretty good! I assume the publisher asked the indie devs to help promote this.
Usually when they give out free games like this, the games themselves are terrible. lol
Saw the logo and thought it was whatpumpkin for a moment. Almost yelped out loud
@Lizuka Nonograms was beatable, but it was a pain in the butt. Some of the larger puzzles don't recognize colour properly, and they basically have multiple shades that all look exactly the same. As well, some of the puzzles are not beatable with logic, you can kind of guess your way to it though.
@Yomerodes Thanks for the list. Body of Evidence, Dream Alone, Inner Voices and Pandemic Shooter are new. Maybe Creepy Tales 2, but i'm not 100% on that one.
I already have their Steve Jackson's Sorcery!.
I'll buy Will You Snail? as well, as it is rated "Overwhelmingly Positive" by users on Steam (the highest possible rating).
I have spent 3 minutes trying to decide if I want to download a free game for a chance to get 7 more free games…
Today's free game is Creepy Tale.
Today's free game is Inner Voices.
