Front Mission 1st: Remake is out today on the Nintendo Switch eShop, heralding the glorious return of the SNES tactical role-playing game since its initial release back in 1995.
We know you all love a good physical edition though, so the fine folks over at Forever Limited have you completely covered with not one, but three different physical editions for the game. You can pre-order your chosen product right now over on the official website. No firm release date is in place, but Forever Limited states that shipping will take roughly two to six months.
So let's take a look at what's on offer. First up, the standard edition is going for €44.99 and will be available in unlimited quantities. Here's what's included:
• Classic case: a plastic box containing a double-sided cover and game cartridge.
• Numbered certificate: a card with a unique number that gives the set an additional collector value.
• Guidebook: 16-page compendium of knowledge about the world of Front Mission.
Next up is the Limited Edition, which is limited to 2000 units and is available for €64.99. Here's what you get with this one:
• Collector's box: a cardboard box with unique artwork.
• Metal case: a highly collectible metal packaging.
• 3 Metal pins: metal pins set.
• Classic case: a plastic box containing a double-sided cover and game cartridge.
• Numbered certificate: a card with a unique number that gives the set an additional collector value.
• Guidebook: 16-page compendium of knowledge about the world of Front Mission.
Finally, the Exclusive Edition is going for a cool €129.99 and is limited to just 500 units. You get quite a bit here, so let's take a peek:
• Exclusive collector’s box: imitates a military supply box, detailed with a metal plate on the front.
• Diorama: High-quality resin cast, perfect for hand painting on a 17 cm x 10 cm base, showing a Wanzer battlefield in great detail.
• Classic case: a plastic box containing a double-sided cover and game cartridge.
• Numbered certificate: a card with a unique number that gives the set an additional collector value.
• Guidebook: 16-page compendium of knowledge about the world of Front Mission.
So there you go! Let us know in the comments if your opting to go for a physical edition of the game and which of the three options tickles your fancy. In the meantime, we'll have a review available as soon as possible.

As many hours as I’ve spent on the first three front missions as a teen I NEED THIS.
Does anyone have any experience with this company? I’d love a physical edition but if I have to wait 6 months then I’d much rather go digital just so I can play it now. I know these companies do like to drag their heels at times
Since the company is based in Poland, the shipping cost to Murica is brutal. I'm not interested enough to spend the money. And after the Japanese physical release mysteriously disappeared recently, I assumed this would become a Forever Limited exclusive. Hey, even a broken clock is right twice a day, eh. https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/nintendo-switch/switch_physical_boxed_games_list_and_release_dates?start=10400#reply-10414
There's no reason for the standard edition to be that expensive compare to the digital version which is already expensive.
@LiquidNinja I've purchased from them before. Look at them as limitedrun, if it's in the preorder stage, you're looking at 6 months or so to get your item. I bought the CE and paid for the express shipping and got it literally 3 days later to Canada. I'll be ordering this one too.
Hey, NL.
I never played the OG version of this, but I am very interested. Will a review be posted?
@Emmerichcoal Cool. Thanks for the info! Finally, I assume they take payments up front on pre-orders as opposed to taking closer to the release date?
@LiquidNinja
I would imagine that this is a pay up front mission.
@Ooyah 100% but I'm okay with. I order from companies like that all the time. Plus my CE of Rise Eterna is BEAUTIFUL and worth every penny
@Emmerichcoal
I must admit, I mainly replied to make a (poor!) Front Mission joke, but, being serious now... I doubt if they take the money three months in advance. That would feel a bit shady? Or is that really the way that they work?
Buying the physical version is definitely not a cheap option - nearly $70 (US) for the game + shipping, and it will take months for the game to actually ship. Although I'm still planning on picking up a physical copy since I'm not in a rush (I have a huge backlog) and I feel it's important to support physical versions if we want to see more of them in the future.
@Ooyah think of it this way, you buy something within the preorder window at limitedrungames, and you don't get your game on average for about 6 to 8 months after the Preorder window closes. And CE can take up to a full year (some of their games have taken longer) to get. That's normal to preorder with these companies. =)
