At Nintendo Live 2022 on the weekend, Zelda fans and various media outlets were quick to spot a large statue of Link from the upcoming release, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Now, a few days on, Nintendo has given Zelda fans who weren't able to make the event in Japan have been treated to a closer look via social media. Nintendo has shared two photos which you can see above and below. It arguably gives us our best look at Link's new look, including the mysterious new changes to one of his arms.
"Check out this statue of Link from The Legend of #Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that was recently displayed at #NintendoLive 2022 in Tokyo, Japan."
Tears of the Kingdom has finally locked in a release date, with Nintendo announcing at the previous Direct presentation it would be launching on 12th May 2023. This latest entry in the series will take Link up into the skies in an expanded world, and pre-orders are open now.
What do you think of this Link statue up close? Notice anything else? Comment down below.

That arm (awesome ♥) of Link is clearly a Sheikah Slate replacement along with the vials on his waist, but I hope this brings real magic to the game.
(And still very curious to know what happened to Princess Zelda. I hope she doesn't get abandoned in a hole...or worse).
Oh boy, I'm looking forward to returning to Hyrule next year and seeing what new abilities Zelda will have
looks wrong, ngl.
edit - upon closer inspection, I'm willing to believe it's the lighting and photography.
You know what, I know this is said in every Zelda game ever, but man link is hot!…..sorry off topic.
@Snatcher
link became hot at some point along the way. was it ocarina?
Link is standing on the ground King Thwomp confirmed
@Snatcher after going to Death Mountain I bet he is.
@Kermit1 without the fire suit he is as good as cooked.
@-wc- I would say around there yes!
Hmm, might just be the angles, but it appears that Link has a quiver but no bow.
The arm clearly is the shoe lab slate replacement, but I wonder if it could also lend link upgraded strength. Imagine if you could grab a charging Lynel by the horns and then wrestle it down. Unrealistic yes, but so is most of the stuff in Zelda games. Probably won’t be the case but it would be cool.
Guy bracing his magic/super power/etc. arm with his other arm has got to be one of my favorite poses. It gives the impression that the power is a bit too much even for the person wielding it.
I wonder what they do with these statues when they stop using them. They have to go somewhere, right? They don't just toss them out, I'd presume.
I’m not buying the f4f statue that will inevitably get licensed from this.
I'm so torn.
On the one hand I've always wanted to wear a tunic - and on the other - I just like blending in to the background and not calling attention to myself. The thought really plagues me.
Major Midna vibes.
@MH4 I’m sure after reusing it for a few more times at whatever game show that has Zelda at, it’ll go nicely in a corner somewhere at Nintendo’s headquarters. Like near a reception desk, or in Aonuma’s office for example…. @Ryu_Niiyama same but I can’t even imagine how much this statue costs if the “small” f4f ones are hundreds…. So maybe thousands or tens of thousands for this one? …Shudders
I’ll settle for the amiibo sized and price of one of these, thanks 😊
That’s one of the things I hate about the new zelda games like breath of the wild he doesn’t wear his iconic green hat or his green clothes
That looks absolutely gorgeous!!!
@5t3v3n yeah, 100% getting the amiibo line that inevitably comes out for this game
I like this pose. It looks like Link is doing a Kamehameha.
Can't wait for the game to come out.
Definitely giving off heavy Princess Mononoke vibes.
The power of his arm might act as a double edged sword. I wonder if there will be any drawbacks to overuse. Will the presence of that arm be a source of conflict for Link?
@Antendo64 yeah same. , there’s gotta be Link, Zelda, maybe that bull (like for Zelda to carry materials and/or supplies, cuz I really want to craft weapons in this game, as I don’t think the gems got enough usage), if it’s more integral to the story that is and maybe then a few enemies. Who knows?
Regardless, yeah def…. Gotta buy-em all! Zelda-mon! Hmm we never see Zelda’s mom do we…. I’d like her to be used in a future Zelda, that would be cool. Like how Zelda lost her etc.
More of, “The Lore of Zelda” please Aonuma-san.
