Ubisoft Forward kicked off its 'Ubisoft Forward' event this year with a "first look" at a quest in its upcoming Switch exclusive Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope.
As exciting as all of this was, the highlight of this segment was arguably the reveal of Rayman at the very end. During the show, game director Davide Soliani announced Rayman would be joining the game in the third DLC as a new playable hero, describing it as a "dream come true".
"The wacky Rabbids and Rayman reunite to embark on an exciting new adventure! Take on even more tactical fun when the Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope DLC arrives post-launch."
Rayman has previously appeared on the Nintendo Switch as a spirit character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, a playable fighter in Brawlhalla and his own adventure Rayman Legends Definitive Edition.
What are your thoughts about Rayman starring along Mario and the Rabbids in this upcoming adventure out on October 20th? Excited about this DLC? Leave a comment down below.

Rayman is an icon. Super excited to have him back!
What should've been there since the first game.
I jumped out of my chair at this lol, Rayman is one of my favorite characters of all time, I hate when they forget about him. Will definitely already be picking up the dlc
This was a hype announcement, tbh.
Remember when Rayman was shafted for the fart joke loving Rabbids? ...those were sad times for Rayman fans.
Somebody wake me up, I must be dreaming.
For the love of Globox, please let this be a tease towards potential brand new Rayman games in the future. Legends was/is fantastic but we haven't had a game like it in nearly a decade and, with the myriad of games Ubisoft have put out in that decade that all feel the same to one another, the fact that the character that started them off in the first place has been shafted to the side is an utter crime. Justice for the lacking-limb legend.
Heck yeah! Rayman Origins and Legends were so amazing. It's a shame Ubisoft doesn't make more Rayman games. Glad to at least see this cameo for the time being.
Easily the best game they showed at the Forward. So glad to see Rayman back and in a game alongside Mario.
....What about Rabbid Rayman?
I’m so happy! My boy was forgotten my ubisoft! And he is now being brought back!
Holy COW!!! (Fun fact my first rayman game was a raving rabbids game)
Not a fan of Rayman.
I would like to see more clothing option for both Mario characters and Rabbids characters.
I'm pretty tired to see plumber outfits of Mario and Luigi all the time.
Give them some futuristic outfits matched with their signature colors since they deal with futuristic stuffs.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This gives me hope that Ubisoft will make Rayman games again.
What does Rayman have to do with Mario or Rabbids? (Besides being a Ubisoft character). TO ME this is a terrible mix, I like Rayman but in a Mario game… no ):
@gloom
??
The entire point of the game is to do a crossover with the Rabbids and offer an experience unlike what traditional Mario games offer. Rayman is where the rabbids originated. So actually, it's a lot more than "just an Ubisoft character". Throwing Assassin's Creed in, that would be "just an Ubisoft character". This? This is the most natural fit they could have chosen. Just as with the DK expansion in the first game (DK was the game Mario originated in), Rayman is the game Rabbids originated in.
Still no Yoshi so, still gonna wait for that discount.
Cool for Rayman though I guess.
It would be cool to have him and Mario be able to be on a team together, but that doesn’t seem like it’s happening based on the wording
Welcome back, Rayman. Where have you been?
@fishbujin A spark of hope?
Not that bothered really but I'm glad for those who like Rayman though. I just never cared that much for Rayman games growing up, I mean I have played all of them and they're all great games but Rayman is just something I don't have a strong need for personally.
This is genuinely pretty exciting. I don't understand why Rayman (or any Ubisoft rep for that matter) was never a fighter in Smash Bros. Ubisoft has always been very supportive of Nintendo, even during the painful Wii U years, and of course now there are 2 Mario + Rabbids games. And Rayman was even a trophy in Smash Wii U. So why no Ubisoft rep in Smash?
Meanwhile Square has 4 reps, I don't get it.
Would much prefer having a new Rayman game entirely. A big factor in why I hate the Rabbids is I feel like they killed Rayman off.
Awesome news! Just hope the wording isn't implying that Mario elements will take a backseat; it'd be cool to have Mario and Rayman actually cross over
Would have liked a Mario character but Rayman fans will be pleased.
This gives me many Sparks of Hope!
... Wun can only hope.
Rayman and Mario in the same game at last. This gives me hope that we may see Rayman in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 2.
The limbless legend has returned! Although it begs the question: why wasn't this adventure in the main game?
I wish this meant we're getting a new Rayman 3D platformer.
@Serpenterror it´s better a new DLC for Smash bros Ultimate than Smash bros Ultimate 2...!
You got Rayman in this game? I’m definitely getting this now.
I just wish this also meant a Rayman amiibo, though that one might be a little difdicult.
When concept art of the original was leaked, fans pooped all over it. Now M+R is one of the most hyped and beloved franchises this generation... that's now bringing back a beloved mascot. It's amazing.
Really sucks he's a DLC character rather than a base game character, but it's still cool to see that Rayman hasn't been buried completely.
I'd like to see a new Rayman game all together, but hey this is a start.
@gloom rabidds are rayman characters. Their first game was Rayman: Raving Rabbids. I am not stoked about Rayman but there is a connection.
I hate this new trend of endless dlc announcements before the game is even out. Dlc used to be something extra after a game did well. Now it’s just a marketing ploy to extend the attention it gets
That said, I love Rayman and this got me 100% interested 😭
@MS7000 That, and they gave birth to the Minions
Good. That means a potential new Rayman is in the works as well.
Glad to see Ubisoft hasn't forgotten about him!
It's almost shocking that for all of the ports/ROMs available on Switch, we're soon to have an official ROM dump of the Game Boy adaptation of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, but none of the classic Rayman games.
Cool I was really hoping for this. Since Rayman 2 he is one of my favourites. Please Ubisoft do not let Rayman's potential go to waste. I do not mind waiting though. Just let it be great like Origins and Legends.
Announcing the third DLC BEFORE releasing the actual game?
Love it! This game fot even bette 11/10
I hope they’re doing this in part to spark interest in Rayman again for an eventual new game. Origins and Legends are right up there with Tropical Freeze for best platformers of the last decade, absolutely put the New Super Mario Bros. games to shame
@ValZ Now he's getting shafted in Rabbids dlc instead!
Loved first one but not paying day 1 prices anymore Ubisoft- especially the paid DLC nonsense. No doubt it will be drastically reduced by Christmas when I will snap it up.
I'm sorry, but a third DLC for a game that isn't even out yet? Why are DLC practices so annoying nowadays
Rayman sharing a screen with Mario might not be as big as Sonic once did, but Rayman in Smash now that would have been something else.
I agree that these DLC and "gold editions" and season passes for DLC that may even be cancelled still and early access practices are absolutely annoying, criminal even. What happened to just expanding your game until release, releasing it, and expanding it more should it prove successful?
Oh well, I love the announcement, and the original game, so it will be nice to have it all together once it's all been released and on sale. It's nice to know a little bit about what the DLC will be already, but by the time I buy it, it will all be known for a while already.
@Anti-Matter I love Rayman. He's awesome.
Nice addition but give us a new Rayman (platforming) game
It’s been almost a decade since Legends. I was about ready to give up hope. Thank you, Rabbids team!
It's awesome to see Rayman back, at this point it has been so long since we have seen the character that I wouldn't mind a Rayman 64 and Rayman 3 port to the modern platforms, even though 64 has been ported so many times.
@Fizza i waiting since Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc for a 3D Rayman game.
@MS7000 I hate Sonic for similar reasons, because Sega killed off...well, pretty much EVERY other legacy IP to promote him 24/7/365 for the past two decades. 2022 started off with them claiming they would "revisit" some of those old franchises; instead, it's been an absolute glut of Sonic coverage, hype, and even Sega execs talking up still more Sonic despite the fact one game just came out less than a year ago and another two (Origins and Frontiers) were/are releasing this year. As someone who loved their amazing RPGs and SRPGs especially, it's beyond heartbreaking; it feels like having been abandoned...a feeling I've grown far too accustomed to with the industry's patterns over the years.
My advice: make the most of this DLC cameo because you never know when or if you'll ever get to see Rayman again. Besides, voting with your wallet to show interest never hurts.
Meh he should have been first game
As happy as I am to see Rayman back I can’t help but think how tacky it is to be announcing this as a third dlc when the games not even out. On the brighter side tho, I see this game getting a gold edition like the first with all the dlc in it. It’ll probably also drop in price way fast to so ultimately it’ll be fine. I can wait it out.
MY BOY LIVES STILL!!
We haven't seen Rayman since 2013. So, almost 10 years with a sign. Maybe, if we are lucky, this Rayman DLC might peak interested in some people to see Rayman again in his own adventure. I personally wouldn't mind a 3D platformer. 2D would also be fine.
Everyone: I thought you were dead!
Rayman: My death was... greatly exaggerated.
Announcing dlc before game is released, feels gross to me.
@tseliot yeah 😎
The DX edition of this game on Switch 2 is going to be very cool in 2024. I can wait.
This was a pleasant surprise, and makes sense like DK last time
Im really hoping for a proper follow up to Rayman Legends someday. Its been 10 years next year! Origins and Legends are 2 of my all time favourite platformers and its a real shame that Ubi have again forgotten him apart from the odd cameo. Please Ubi just release a follow up!
@Clammy Couldn't agree more but it seems to be the usual way now. I guess in 5 years time they may be announcing DLC first and then the game its for after XD
When they announce DLC (and three of them!!) before the game has even released, it means I’ll wait until there’s a complete package before buying - and by that time it’ll be on sale!
So will it be like DK's DLC where it wasn't DK and Mario and just the former? Or will Mario and Rayman be side by side?
I’ve never really played Rayman(besides the Apple Arcade one), but he’s really cute and I’m excited to have him.
We need an all new Rayman game soon! Yeah, I’m a huge fan, just look at my avatar.
@MeloMan
Probably with Mario this time. Rayman is a great character, but if you want people to buy this DLC, it kinda has to have Mario in it.
I'm happy Rayman is back, but to announce a DLC BEFORE the actual game is out to me is just wrong.
Cancelled my preorder. 3 DLCs before launch not a great look and can't trust Ubisoft's quality. I'll wait for the 'gold edition' that has it all when it is 70% off in a year or maybe not get it at all.
@EarthboundBenjy that's what I was thinking, how do you advertise dlc for a game that isn't even out yet! Wtf!
@Specters good idea, that's my plan.
@Yosher I know right!?
The more the merrier the game.
He should have been there in the first game.
