Last week, we were a bit swept up in all of that Suikoden news from Konami, weren't we? However, the series' spiritual successor also got its own time in the spotlight during the Tokyo Game Show too. Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes got a brand new trailer, and this is the most detailed look we've seen of the upcoming turn-based RPG.
This brand-new trailer expands on the one we got during Gamescom in August, and it looks gorgeous. This is also the first trailer to show us the game's voice acting, which was actually a stretch goal during the game's Kickstarter campaign. And while we were hoping for a more concrete release date, we're still happy to see the game is on-track for 2023.
Main character Nowa is voiced by Gakuto Kajiwara, famous for the role of Asta in Black Clover and Swin Abel in The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie. Seign — who we're getting serious Jowy from Suikoden II vibes from — is portrayed by Kenji Akabane, who is the voice of the Producer in The Idolmaster anime, and plays Akira in the Japanese dub for Live A Live. Marisa will be voiced by singer Sumire Uesaka, who is NEO: The World Ends with You's Kanon Tachibana.
Other than the great Japanese voice acting, we also got a look at the game's stunning 2.5D visuals, which use high-definition pixel art against 3D backgrounds. With Nowa running through city streets, and combat scenes on display, the game is looking crisp and sharp.
Those with a love for collecting heroes and building an army have a lot to look forward to on Switch with Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes and Suikoden I & II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification both coming out next year.
What do you think of this new trailer for Eiyuden Chronicle? Will you be picking this up on Switch? Let us know in the comments!

Still waiting for KS to come to fruition.
Definitely interested in this as Suikoden is my favorite RPG on the Playstation. Yes I am excited for the Suikoden Remaster but this is a new game.
I've never played anything related to either series, but the timing of all this on both sides seems like a response to the Konami announced Suikoden Remasters (of which I plan to make my entry into the series) or vice versa... healthy gaming competition!
... Wun can only hope.
What a great time to be a JRPG fan!
I'm glad they are marketing this more, the more I see of this game the better it had became.
Looks great, lets hope they nail the gameplay and replayability of the Suikoden also.
I’ve got to say, this looks rather stunning. I’m definitely into it, that’s for sure.
Looking goooood! I honestly don't which one I want to play more, this one, Octopath Traveler 2, Dragon Quest 3 2D HD or Sea of Stars... 2023 is really promising!
This looks glorious! I'm loving this new style for rpgs.
@the_beaver Oh man, Sea of Stars! That’s one game I’ll be getting day one no matter what. That’s shaping up to be one seriously gorgeous RPG.
Yeah! Still very much into it, it looks so very nice, like the Suikoden 3 of another universe where they decided to stick with 2D.
Can't wait to see and recruit all the weirdos and has beens that are there to fill out the 100+ man roster.
Hey! Sumire Uesaka is professional and very good seiyū as well! Not only just a singer!
Good for them. Still need to play the original
So yea, obviously gonna have to buy this.
I haven't been playing a lot of JRPGs. I'm a bit picky about them although I did enjoy some of Octopath Traveler, Dragon Quest 11, and really enjoyed Shin Megami Tensei 5. However this looks cool. Characters look cool, has a lot of folks from classic jrpgs working on it. Looks interesting in a way that the genre doesn't usually do for me. Over 100 characters seems wild. I may look into it.
It looks like a dream game. I'm in.
@AlanaHagues It'll likely have English voice acting in the West just as Eiyuden Chronicle Rising has.
There's a character that's a shark!! That's it, sold!! Seriously, how many RPG are coming up in these months? It's insane and they all look so good!
This looks really good!
This looks great! I am impressed by the 2.5D graphics!
Not a huge fan of the anthropomorphic characters in this world, but I enjoyed Rising well enough and am a huge Suikoden fan so I will probably enjoy this game a lot regardless.
@wuntyme8 Vice versa. Eiyuden Chronicles has been in development for quite some time. In fact, a companion game has already been released a while back.
Eiyuden Chronicles being one of the biggest Kickstarters undoubtedly had someone at Konami think about doing a remaster.
You'll be in for a treat. Suikoden is a wonderful JRPG. It is my personal favourite.
