The UK monthly charts for July are in, showcasing a solid debut for Monolith Soft's epig JRPG Xenoblade Chronicles 3, despite the game launching right at the tail end of the month on the 29th.
The game, which stars protagonists Noah and Mio on a quest across the vast landscape of Aionios, lands at number 13 in the physical and digital charts. It's worth noting, as ever, that Nintendo does not provide figures for its digital sales, so Xenoblade Chronicles 3 would hypothetically have charted even higher if digital sales were included.
Looking at Nintendo published titles, Nintendo Switch Sports is the only game to chart higher than Xenoblade Chronicles 3, coming in at number 6. In terms of third party titles, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga took the silver medal for the month, coming in at number 2.
Something else interesting to note is the distinct lack of Horizon: Forbidden West on the monthly charts. As GameIndustry.biz highlights, the game has been frequently topping the weekly sales charts for quite some time now, but this is due to the high popularity of the PS5 bundle containing a copy of the game, which isn't factored into the monthly charts.
Position | Game |
---|---|
1 | F1 22 |
2 | LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga |
3 | Grand Theft Auto V |
4 | FIFA 22 |
5 | Red Dead Redemption 2 |
6 | Nintendo Switch Sports |
7 | Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 |
8 | The Quarry |
9 | WWE 2K22 |
10 | EA Sports UFC 4 |
11 | Far Cry 6 |
12 | Elden Ring |
13 | Xenoblade Chronicles 3 |
14 | FIFA 22 |
15 | Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order |
16 | Mario Kart 8: Deluxe |
17 | Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition |
18 | The Crew 2 |
19 | Grand Theft Auto Online |
20 | Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle |
Console sales for the month dropped for all three major platforms, with a total of 104,000 units reported to have been sold, signalling a drop of 16% month-on-month. PS5 sales dropped the least by about 14%, making it the second most popular console in the UK behind the Nintendo Switch.

Well deserved, great game. XC3 should be in the discussion for GotYs at the end of the year.
Not bad at all for coming out at the very end of the month.
Coming up on the end of Xenoblade 3 myself and while I do have quite a number of grievances with it (mostly story related) I am still really loving it and finding it very addictive to play. Would wholeheartedly recommend it.
Not too shocking. It's pretty much the characters homeland.
Great stuff for Xenoblade. Big JRPG's are usually a gigantic turnoff for a lot of people so seeing it do so well is very refreshing. I think an interesting anecdote from this as well is that Mario+Rabbids has crept in at 20. People must be decently excited for Sparks of Hope huh?
I still have hype with Youtubers Life 2 PS4.
Didn’t crack the top 10? Snuff it.
Well deserved!
@Anti-Matter I’m starting to think you quite like that game
@Fizza good spot I didn’t notice that, Mario & Rabbids featuring.
I cannot stress this enough Nintendo fans. Buy this game!
Is there any particular reason why FIFA 22 is listed at both #4 and #14? Is one the Legacy Edition?
@Tyranexx #4 is Xbox and #14 is Switch. See the hyperlinks.
@Magician elden ring got goty already locked up..
@johnedwin Most people love Elden Ring, no doubt. But not everyone loved it.
@Magician I didn’t! I gave up in frustration because it was too hard. I had reached the point where I was spending more time on the game’s incredibly slow loading screens than playing the game. I have better things to do with my life.
I’ll accept “not every game has to be accessible to everyone; if you think it’s too hard don’t play it” as a legitimate argument, but I don’t see how that design philosophy can be seriously considered the pinnacle of game design.
@marandahir Ah, I see. So I was correct...sorta. Since the Switch version is technically billed as a Legacy edition.
Quite impressive considering it launched in the last few days of the month. Really happy to see XB3 doing well.
Pretty surprised to see a UFC game on the charts. I could be mistaken, or things could have changed over the years, but I was under the impression that the brand has super niche appeal outside of the US (kinda like the NFL).
I just remember an article I read over on Digitally Downloaded (an Australian site, I believe) that claimed Bruce Lee would be rolling over in his grave after he was included in some manner in one of the UFC games, and that most of the martial arts world looks down on the brand & what it represents.
EDIT: Found the article(s), but they're nearly 10 years old (man, time flies, it felt like yesterday), so things have indeed likely changed. That, and the author clearly has some sort of anti-American (or at least anti culturally American) bias looking back over the articles over the years.
@Magician I did not love Elden Ring. It was Dark Souls 6 with an open world.
@riki_sidekicks Are you talking about Elden Ring?
No: 13 isn't bad, but with digital, it probably would've been I the top 10 or maybe the top 5.
@KryptoniteKrunch Plus, they didn't count digital. The other non-Nintendo games counted digital.
@michellelynn0976 yeah, just sad it has GOTY locked up. XC3 totally deserves it.
@riki_sidekicks I know.
