Update [Wed 6th Jul, 2022 17:35 BST]: Square Enix has now confirmed that The DioField Chronicle will be launching in the west on the same day as it is in Japan, 22nd September.
The publisher has also opened up pre-orders for physical copies of the game on its website. The standard Switch version will cost $59.99, or you can get the Collector's Box — which includes a board game — right here for $169.99.
The Square Enix store has since been updated since this update to stock only the standard and Collector's Box and no separate board game. We have updated the article accordingly.
Original Article [Sat 2nd Jul, 2022 14:30 BST]: Square Enix's live stream for its upcoming strategy RPG 'The DioField Chronicle' has just revealed the game will be arriving in Japan on September 22nd. There'll also be a trial version arriving in this region on August 10th.
The DioField Chronicle demo will allow players to experience the first chapter and then transfer their progress to the full game when it's released. There's no mention if the local release will line up with this September release, or if the trial version will be made available outside of Japan just yet.
This title was originally announced for Switch and multiple other platforms in March and is scheduled to arrive this year locally.
Stay tuned for an update.

A strategy RPG with war between multiple kingdoms made by Square Enix which has great artwork?
That’s a first I guess.
So now this is Square Enix in the 2nd half of 2022:
Definitely a repeat of March 2022 where Square Enix is releasing a large amount of games in a very short time window.
@Grumblevolcano Good lord, Square-Enix is certainly keeping itself busy these days!
So it’s Triangle Strategy.
I am so excited for this one! This is SUCH a great year!
Edit Nice! Same day global launch!
@Grumblevolcano Yeap and they still got Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song Remastered, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Dragon Quest III HD, Dragon Quest X Offline Edition, Front Mission 2 Remake, Dragon Quest XII, Tactics Ogre Remastered, and Final Fantasy XVI to come too.
@Ralizah they have over 5500 employees no wonder they can make so many games...
I think it is a missed opportunity that the new IPs, Octopath, Triangle and now this, do not share the same universe. They could have build a new Ivalice, where everything happens seperatly but is connected to a bigger shared context.
You mean demo available for THAT region. Japan.
I'm somewhat interested, but the moving animations looked a little wonky and non-grid system alludes me. I'm wondering how much this game is going to be because SE keeps putting what I would consider budget titles in the premium bracket.
This was that strategy game with a war in a Totally Not European continent?
Really hoping this gets a western release. Also the remaster of Knights in the Nightmare.
@Mattock1987 Definitely not as pretty though. Triangle Strategy is absolutely gorgeous.
@HefHughner When Triangle Strategy was first announced, I actually was hoping it would be the same world as Octopath.
This looks good
Looks cool but preordering in today's age of half finished games being released is a fools game.
Looking really forward to the demo. With Forspoken getting delayed, I’ve got a large chunk of designated gaming time to reschedule with a different release and I’m loving Square’s B team output right now. Really appreciating Square for delivering on great games this year.
Square Enix is really on fire right now
Perfect. This will be a day one, barring any big concerns.
@Thoughts Yes they are the same genre. Both are Strategy RPGs.
Reminds me of Fire Emblem but not Triangle Strategy.
Square Enix is on fire!
Huh. Judging by that image I was hoping for another HD-2D so this is kind of a bummer.
Want to preorder, but want to pay when it ships rather than now.
(the latter I'm getting a feeling from the checkout process)
Hope it's not a Square-Enix store exclusive.
No amazon nor GameStop listings, it seems.
