We're used to hearing about the games Xbox's Phil Spencer is playing, but what's Nintendo of America's president Doug Bowser been enjoying recently? It seems he actually completed OlliOlli World not long ago - congratulating British developer Roll7 on creating a "super fun skateboarding x side scrolling platformer". If you've played this game, you'll know it's no easy feat.
Roll7 responded to Doug, acknowledging how "rad" he was for playing the game through. It seems Doug has a bit of a soft spot for the skateboarding genre, as he was a bit of a skateboarding legend back in his younger years. Even the Birdman Tony Hawk would be impressed.
Last month, Roll7 released its first major story expansion update for OlliOlli World titled Void Riders. If you've not already played the base game, it's well worth a look. In our own Nintendo Life, we gave it 9/10 and our sister website Pure Xbox also awarded it with the same score.

Now, if only Doug could get in contact with Tony Hawk and the other required parties to help get the remasters of Pro Skater 3 + 4 back on track...

Doug Bowser still isn't nearly as much fun as Reggie. But I did really love his deadpan delivery of this pun at the start of the E3 2021 Treehouse:
"Why does Luigi bring two pairs of overalls to the golf course? Incase he gets a hole in one."
Woah, that’s some old school skating right there. Definitely gives him a few coolness points.
This makes Doug almost seem like a real human being. Reggie always felt to me like a fake company robot at all times.
Bowser skate game when?
@MeatSauce Usually company robots don't say they like "kicking ass", but I mean it's Nintendo, they probably have some gimmicky technology making him such an advanced AI.
I never understand the Reggie hate just because he was good at his job. Man was/is a walking meme factory and a chill dude. Bowser is more tight lipped and less visible than Reggie, old skater pic or not.
This game is never going to look old
Reggie went above and beyond in his role. There will never be another exec like him for a long time. Bowser is just your average corporate dude.
Think D. Bowser is realizing (or being told by metrics, focus groups and higher-ups) he needs to ingratiate himself to the public more ala "the Regginator" & Mr. Iwata (RIP) and engage fans more to seem more personable/relatable.
It's not an approach that's for everyone, but Nintendo's public image definitely was aided by the unusual approachability, visibility and interaction from its high level corporate execs during the DS/Wii era.
Would be nice to see that return in it's own way with the new present faces of the company.
... Wun can only hope.
