It's been known for several months now that the Wii U and 3DS eShops will be closing for good in March 2023. This means, of course, that you won't be able to purchase new digital games or DLC from either store, causing significant backlash from the gaming community.

Nintendo has now provided the exact date on which the Wii U and 3DS eShops will close: March 28th, 2023. So that's it then, folks; best get your affairs in order and make sure you've purchased and downloaded everything you want to own before the closure, because you can be absolutely sure that boxed games will skyrocket in price after March.

If you'd like to save money on eShop credit to spend on games before they disappear, you can currently get 10% off $50 vouchers at our store. Head to the link below and enter code SAVE10 at checkout (US only).

Nintendo has clarified that you will still be able to download purchased games from each eShop after the closure date for the foreseeable future, which is good news, we guess. You'll also receive software updates and be able to play online with compatible games (though if Ubisoft has anything to say, many of these will be taken offline too).

Additionally, Nintendo has confirmed that sales for Fire Emblem Fates will end one month earlier on February 28th. You can read more information on its reasoning right here.
