Epic Games has announced RAILGRADE, a train management sim due for launch on the Switch this fall.
You'll be building railway systems in the most efficient manner possible in order to transport cargo and restore economic prosperity to an industrial colony.
Here's a run down of the game's features from its official store page:
- Use effortless construction tools to instantly build and manage an intricate network of interconnected railway routes
- Create efficient supply chains by connecting industrial sources and placing dozens of busy trains on the map
- Customise your trains using different engines and freight types, with hundreds of unique engine and cargo combinations.
- Optimise your train set-up and place tracks strategically to navigate challenging environmental terrain and create the most effective delivery route possible.
- Control the flow of resource production through careful management of inputs and outputs. Watch out for bottlenecks to keep trains and their precious cargo moving.
- Invest in the growth of your cities, or use zeppelins to export goods for extra profit
- Admire your fleet of trains with the cinematic view mode
- Help restore prosperity to an industrial colony across a single player campaign with over 50 missions
- Spend tokens awarded by each mission and use them to unlock new industries, upgrades and options.
- Challenge yourself in bonus side missions. Explore arid deserts in search of oil supplies, or develop a rocket launch program.
- Show off your most impressive railway setups with a photo mode that includes a variety of filters and visual options

MAJOR Transport Tycoon vibes. And thats a good thing in my book!
Seeing the complicated setups with many rails and trains crisscrossing around is very satisfying. Some frame rate issues but for a management sim like this that's not really a worry.
Played a lot of train sims during my preteen years so I am very interested. Hope it performs well because the premise sounds good.
Looking forward to this game already, hope it has signals and a “sandbox/simulation” mode besides missions only
Weirdly, this was one of the most unexpected highs of the Direct for me - I've put a ridiculous number of hours into Train Valley 2 on Steam and this looks like it might scratch the same itch... Intrigued to see more
One of my favourite announcements of the mini direct, looks great.
For once Epic is doing something interesting here.
@samuelvictor Same Transport Tycoon vibes for me too, very interested.
Yes please! this looks awesome!!
Epic’s making games and not F2P trash like it’s 1993?
I don’t trust them, but I’ll keep an open mind.
Looks abit like Sid Meiers Railroads
The Direct was amazing. So many big announcements, yet this one managed to stand out for me. Big fan of Transport Fever and Factorio, which both sadly have no console port. So this looked like: Hello, I am your dream game.
I do not even care for this game gameplay-wise, but that doesn't mean I can't spot a great transport sim when I see one. The animation on the machinery is a JOY to look at and you can tell the creators are passionate about this. And the port seems to be holding up quite well on Switch! Devs have finally had a chance to get used to porting things on Switch because between Nier, Persona and this, impossible ports aren't seeming so impossible now.
I used to play Zoo Tycoon and Zoo Tycoon Dinosaur Digs a LOT when I was a kid so I think I could get into this quite easily.
This looks stunning, no? Day 1 for me.
This looks like a great game that you could while away many hours building stats in handheld, rail freaks will go nuts over this.
Yeah, this was the most pleasant surprise for me!
This was one of my favorite announcements of the Direct
