As promised, we got another sneak peek at the upcoming Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course DLC at this year's Summer Game Fest. Studio MDHR's highly-anticipated DLC to its hit indie run-and-gun looks to be extremely tasty, and we can't wait to take another shot and die over and over again when it launches on 30th June.
The new gameplay shows Ms. Chalice's skills as she takes on a particularly icy-looking foe, and it's looking as devilish as the main game.
We've only got a few more weeks until The Delicious Last Course is served on Switch. You can also check out an interview with Maja Moldenhauer, COO of Studio MDHR from the show right here.

The DLC is looking great! It looking to be worth the wait.
I said this during the livestream, but I can definitely see now why this took 5 years, this looks incredible.
Where the hell is the online multiplayer they promised like 3 years ago?
This looks so good, there chosen animation style takes a long time, but it’s so worth it!
Stunning looking as always! I usually vastly prefer pixel art to HD visuals for retro style games, because it fits the aesthetics of the old games better, and most HD art in sidescrollers looks like cheap flash style autotweened animation to me... but THIS is the way to do "modern" visuals... irconic as it's aping 1930s animation of course. But I mean, hand drawn, frame by frame, by people who at least know the 12 principles of animation. Love it.
Ok... So physical when?
You can see why it took them so long for this. Hand-drawn-animation takes up so much time, which is the reason people have switched to CGI animation, which is only goes faster but can be sometimes even cheaper. But only sometimes...
Looks great, took a while but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. Day 1 download for sure.
They have my money. They also have my time.
@SuperWeird Where's the physical release they also promised? 🥺
I’ve only just realised… The Delicious Last Course… DLC 😅 very clever lol
that boss actually looks kinda easy..........of course i have 3 expert runs in but hoping theres nothing on Dr. Kahls robot or Devil level...........ok, it wouldnt hurt
I mean, yeah, it looks amazing. That's expected.
What I really want to know:
They've only shown a few of the bosses in action, but the lady said this was going to be the largest island in the game, which is exciting. Hopefully, there's a lot more we haven't seen yet. This teaser looks so gorgeous! I just love snow levels in games, and blue is my favorite color, so anything with that palette makes me happy.
I really gotta clear Inkwell Island 2. I probably should've bought some different power-ups.
Whats the Price?
Oh god, this game is wonderful!
And it matches the Switch a lot!
The game seems super hard at first, but trust me, after about 20 hours of torture...you will never see the game over screen again. I'm not saying it gets easier, but you get so good at the game, even though it's challenging, you just don't lose anymore. It's a lot of fun to play alone. Coop is torture, because the second player usually doesn't have time to play well, and ends up dying every 5 seconds!
Their style results in a great looking product, and the original Cuphead was a fantastic game that suited my taste well. I worried then that the graphics may be too labor intensive to be sustainable as sales might trail off after a while when the newness wears off. Just something I wondered, though I'll enjoy these games as they're available and leave that question for the developer.
Everything I’ve seen so far all looks great, and I’m looking forward to 20 days from now to dig in, but I’m still not too sure I should believe the claims I’m hearing that it will be bigger than any other island. Island 3 had 7 bosses along with 2 Run n’ Guns, and we’ve only seen evidence of 4 new bosses. This latest glimpse shows just how much more is in one of the levels we’d seen before, but if this comes out and it winds up only being the 4 we’ve had previews of, it’ll be a bit disappointing.
I’m one of the few that really want to see at least one new Run n’ Gun, but they’ve kept it real quiet if there are any to be had. It seems as if they still have had control over what gets shown, and I’d like to think they’re just intentionally limiting the amount of battles they’ll show for now to preserve some degree of surprise. We’ve been shown Pork Rind’s with new items for sale. How are we supposed to pay for those, for example? I’d actually be happy with it even if it isn’t much more than they’ve hinted at, but making claims that it’s the biggest island yet might be oversell unless they’re going to whip out another 4 bosses they hadn’t told us about yet.
I’d expect that as we get into the last week that the press and the privileged streamers will get early copies and start spoiling, but for now I’m just hoping they’re trying to keep a few things secret as long as they can.
Ok, now that I’ve seen a recent interview with one of the key creators, there’s a bit more detail on the amount of content. I’m not quite sure how you could describe it as the biggest island, though, since she claimed it’s 5 bosses, and NO new Run n’ Gun. She did say that there were some new ways to earn coins that she wouldn’t reveal just yet (but perhaps the internet will spoil before the 30th). She called the bosses “super sized”, but if they also need to be beaten within the same two minute window, what would that mean?
We were also told that Ms Chalice has to be equipped through the charm slot, so she can’t be used with any other charms but has built in abilities that sort of take the place of the extra heart and smoke dash.
I’ve had a feeling the whole time they were going to ditch the Run n’ Guns, so it’s not a big surprise but a bit of a let down. Interested to see what new ways of earning coins will be, but slightly nervous it might be frustratingly difficult new mechanics involved.
Still, even though it’s not free (roughly half the cost of the original game), it still looks worth it.
