Approximately 60 million Pokémon games were shipped in the last financial year, according to the latest data found via the official Pokémon Company website.
As discovered by Serebii (thanks, VGC), The Pokémon Company has now sold over 440 million units of Pokémon related software. Previously, the website gave figures up to end of March 2021, quoting over 380 million units sold. The implication here, of course, is that at least 60 million units were sold over the course of FY2022.
In addition, the website states that a total of 43.2 billion cards for the Pokémon TCG have been produced in the same time period, signalling an increase of 9.1 billion compared to the previous year. It also states that the Pokémon animated TV shows have aired in a total of 192 different areas around the world.
While the numbers here are undoubtedly impressive, they're not entirely surprising given that The Pokémon Company enjoyed a record breaking financial year, delivering sales of 204 billion yen / US$1.6 billion and a net profit of 41 billion yen / US$320 million.
Looking ahead, November 18th sees the launch of the next major pair of games in the core video game series: Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. A new trailer was recently showcased for the game, confirming the two legendaries alongside a plethora of other information.

Gotta catch ‘em all? Wow.
Pokemon BDSP + Legends Arceus + Snap should be about 30mio units but what are the other 30mio? Ofc games like SwSh and Let's Go also still sold some copies but ofc not 30mio copies combined
@mariomaster96 A part of me hopes Mystery Dungeon DX got a boost in sales since I would love to see a new game in that series. Even if it's another remake I wouldn't care in the slightest, I just adore the gameplay loop, story and music in each and every game that I've played.
@mariomaster96 I'm guessing the 3DS games are still moving a few units as well since they're still available, but I can't imagine that takes up much more, maybe like 1% of that. I do have to wonder where the rest of these sales could possibly be coming from.
I'm generally acquainted with Pokemon franchise.
Not too hyped but still have some interest with the franchise.
I'm open with the new features applied as long the games still playable.
I personally have more interest with humanoid looking Pokemon such as Sawk, Lucario (Sawk is my favorite since I like Karate looking guy) as they looked cool with humanoid looking.
Btw, I will pick Pokemon Violet (for Professor Turo)
@ZeroRVL Yeah exactly, even if games like the 3DS games or something like the Mystery Dungeon remake still sell a bit it won't be that much
@mariomaster96 The only other thing I can think of, which I didn't put in my original comment, is they may have undertracked shipment data from a previous fiscal year, so they're just correcting it. In which case the headline here would be wrong lol.
I’m responsible for two physical and one download and another one in November. 😁
60M is ridiculous. It is very plausible that they just were slow to update or something. Though there were three new titles..
@ZeroRVL There's also the 3DS virtual console games. They're old games but I imagine the VC pricing makes them very desirable considering new Pokemon games are often full price for ever.
9 billion new cards and yet people do all kinda of crazy things to get them?
