Asobo Studio and Focus Entertainment have confirmed A Plague Tale: Requiem will be coming to the Nintendo Switch as a cloud version release on 18th October this year. This was announced earlier on at the latest 'Focus Showcase' alongside an extended gameplay trailer.
Requiem is the follow-up to A Plague Tale: Innocence, which was released on the Switch last year as another cloud game. The upcoming release is another rat-filled adventure. Here's a bit about the latest gameplay trailer from the PR. Unfortunately, we can't share it here on Nintendo Life due to the age restrictions in place.
"In a new extended gameplay sequence, follow Amicia and Hugo as they make their way through a massive ochre-red quarry overwhelmed with soldiers eager to capture them. Fortunately, the duo has many new tricks up their sleeve and don’t shy away from getting their hands dirty. Watch how it all plays out and get ready to embark on their heart-rending journey into a brutal, breathtaking world, and discover the cost of saving those you love in a desperate struggle for survival."

The real plague is cloud versions of games on Switch. No thanks. I'd rather buy the game on another platform.
Still think they can get away with these cheap (in quality, not price) cloud versions eh?
If it’s a cloud version then no one cares.
No, jus stop, please.
I jus get disappointed when I see cloud after a game. I don’t care what game it is, either port it or don’t take you pick, but cloud version? No thanks.
Dead on arrival. Especially when it’s a literal who compared to KH Cloud
I thought it was coming out for PS4 & Xbox one so I'll not be playing it till I upgrade my console my internet's not good enough to stream it through game pass or I'd do that
As soon as I see the word cloud I'm like nope.
Pointless version.
This isn't me slagging off Switch, any games played exclusively through cloud streaming, such as all the PS3 games on the new PS subscription service, are pointless.
I'd rather just not play games.
I prefer my games on cart or digital on my sd card. That said, I am open to cloud games IF they run well AND aren’t full priced. Cloud based versions should always be $10-20 (or 20-30%) off their physical / digital counterpart for various reasons, but the prime two are it will never perform quite as smooth as a native version, and because of requiring internet to work. If your internet craps out for a day or week because your provider has issues, then you can’t access your titles unlike physical or digital copies.
If companies can make sure their servers stream the games well, and offer a discount for playing via cloud, then I’m all for it.
Enough of the cloud crap. Either put the game natively on the platform or don't put it on the platform at all.
@Royalblues I've personally only tried the cloud version of a Kingdom Hearts demo and it was a bad experience with lag both framerate and input wise, while my internet connecting is absolutely not that bad.
On top of that, needing an internet connection all the time for a single player game (for KH at least, don't know about this game), is absolutely not done. And once the servers for these cloud versions go down, you can't play it at all anymore either. Bye bye money.
No, I'll never ever go for cloud gaming. If it ever becomes the standard I'll become a retro only gamer with maybe only the very occasional exception if I really really want to play a game or something.
Google stadia got ripped apart for its full price streaming strategy, now Nintendo slowly turning into that
@UltimateOtaku91 define "Nintendo" (no first party titles have done this), but I concur with "slowly" since we're talking maybe 10 releases out of several thousands.
I'm skeptical about cloud gaming myself, but I can't pretend they make up a trend of any significance on Switch. And amen to that.😅
At some point they should understand they can’t treat games as movies/tv series. It doesn’t work that way. It’s a shame that even some games that should work natively on switch, they are using the cloud.
@nhSnork well not nintemdo themselves but more and more high profile games coming to switch as cloud only versions and im sure more are yet to come
I wonder how many "normal type" consumers don't quite understand what a cloud version is and just buy it without giving it any further thought, only to find out you need to be online to play and you're basically "licensing" the game instead of really owning it. That's one of my main reasons to keep buying physical copies.
Lol really cloud version, i can play this game on the go with my steam deck 🤣
Still don't understand the incredibly negative reception to cloud streaming option on here. You'd rather have no game at all depriving people of a chance to play than this? Rather selfish no?
I'm not into cloud streaming (am buying this on PS5) but this game had zero chance of a native port, zero. It would not be possible.
This is the reality of Nintendo having effectively 17 year old hardware at this point.
I'm glad this release is happening! The original would never have run on Switch, and neither would this. Good to see ongoing support even for games that likely won't drive big sales numbers, especially with a Cloud Version.
@BeautyandtheBeer could not agree more!
@UltimateOtaku91 this game brings the grand total of “cloud versions” up to 12 (not including the 3 Japanese only released titles). Don’t see how the Switch is slowly turning into Stadia from these games occupying 1/128th of the total library. None of the current cloud games have sold well either.
Lol cloud gaming
CLOUD is the plague here.. .LMAO......
@Dm9982 I prefer my games on cart or digital on my sd card.
That's what all gamers want. Ownership.
@progx None of the current cloud games have sold well either.
Too TRUE of a statement take KH Cloud...that died off from the gaming talk fast.
@SwitchForce Aye. I mean I don’t mind options like Cloud in addition to, OR in the case of not enough power to run a game at 4k/60fps natively. But like I said, def give us the option for ownership, or if it’s going to be a “service” then the cost has to be reduced and it has to run well. Control ran rather well for a bunch of people, but then you have the KH collection that ran like crap for even those with 300+Mb connections. Control, IIRC, wasn’t $60 at switch launch, but the KH games were full original price.
Another option would be $20-35 for a cloud version that you get access to for 6-12 mons, sort of like Capcom originally did with RE7. But however the company decides to slice it for profit, a cloud version should NOT cost equal to a disc/card/digital download.
@Dm9982 You assume people can afford ISP prices and be around a free wifi to use it. Switch is a portable Gaming Console not something left to the coffee table. People forget Cloud isn't free to access or have. You own nothing and download almost nothing but Digital on the other hand you download and own and play wherever/whenever. Think about that one. If no other choice I go Digital - I at least have on my Device and can play anytime without WIFI/internet connection.
@SwitchForce Yeah no you’re right. ISP isn’t cheap, and data caps still exist in some places, even in the US (can confirm, my data cap for home internet is 1TB and my max up/down is 24mb/1.5mb). So cloud is def not a good option. Which I why I believe that cloud should only be used to enhance a game beyond on a systems native ability, not just be a dump to run the game fully. Use Witcher 3 as an example, it runs natively on switch, but maybe for an optional cloud version that runs at max settings, or a cheap cloud enhancement option.
I think releasing ONLY a cloud version not only hurts the possible install base, but it hurts the industry as a whole, alienates gamers and is just a cheap cop out and cash grab. Cloud should NEVER be the only option to play the game on the console, and instead an optional way to play the game.
@Dm9982 I think releasing ONLY a cloud version not only hurts the possible install base, but it hurts the industry as a whole, alienates gamers and is just a cheap cop out and cash grab
This is the truth of the matter and those developers know it. Laziness is what I call - do it right or never do it. Physical and Digital buyers pay to get the game. That's a FACT.
@BeautyandtheBeer Still don't understand the incredibly negative reception to cloud streaming option on here.
Your mistaken take Stream like Steam/GOG aren't the same as cloud they have games that can be played without a Cloud service running constant that install locally.
