We've all got that video game that we played over and over again while growing up that we just absolutely adore. It might be the first game you ever played. It might be a Christmas or birthday gift. Or it might just be something you spent a lot of time playing with your best friend while sitting on your bedroom floor in front of a CRT.
One of the best things about having a special game like this is sharing your thoughts and feelings with others. And that's exactly what our newest video producer Felix has done. In the video, he talks about Mario Kart Wii, a game that holds a special place in his heart. Felix shares some sweet stories about how he got the game, and he talks about some of his favourite aspects of it too.
Some of us have something to say though — Mario Kart Wii, a childhood game? That makes a few of us feel old... Okay, age means nothing, and if Mario Kart Wii came out when you were a kid, you got a darn amazing Mario Kart game to grow up playing.
So, why not give the video a watch. And once you're done, you should absolutely share your own video game memories with us here and on YouTube!

Mario Kart Wii was one of my favorite games. I loved the wheel! I was terrible at the game!
Nintendo land was my favorite, maybe it was the fact that I could make a trillion mii's and play with them, Or maybe because I loved playing captain falcon.
Mario kart wii was my first and still favorite Mario kart, the stages, the music, man I love that game so much!
Not from Nintendo games, Dance Dance Revolution 3rd Mix PS1 and Arcade was my teenhood game during early 2000 that shaped me become DDR player.
Didn’t watch the video yet but Mario Kart Wii is amazing. It set the tight (but not stiff like DS) controls that the series still has today. The tracks are awesome, the character roster is great, motion controls are fine yet controllers work well too, and the online was amazing at the time. Plus all the small stuff like the addition of bikes, tricks, and wheelies really made it feel like an evolution to the series. I love me some Double Dash but Wii really set up the future of the series.
I played Mariokart Wii to DEATH as a kid. Definitely one of my childhood favorites, and still my favorite Mariokart game to date.
I still will boot it up from time to time and just have a great time. I really hope there will be more Wii representation in the Booster Course Pass.
Mario kart Wii is always gonna be special. Fantastic music tracks. Great tracks. Bikes.
Shame the online was full of cheaters
@1UP_MARIO Yeah I remember thinking “I’m decent at this game I’d like to play online” big mistake. The online was gnarly.
@1UP_MARIO good thing the online isn't full of cheaters now cause they get banned fast now
I have so much nostalgia for this game. I even have a record of less than 30 seconds on Grumble Volcano.
My first Mario Kart was Super Mario Kart (I know, I'm aging myself there), I loved it at the time and always had fun playing it with my younger brother. Having said that, I've definitely been spoiled with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (which is an amazing game) and couldn't go back to the OG game, as IMO it hasn't aged well.
Mario Kart Wii was the first game I ever played and I had an absolute blast with it. Just the idea of being able to drive with a steering wheel like my dad did in his car was mind-blowing to 4-year-old me.
My childhood game was Castle Crashers on the ps3. Such a good game still great to this day.
@1UP_MARIO lowkey the cheaters made the game hilarious
My childhood game(s) was the Megaman series. Shocker, I know, given my avatar. I remember getting Megaman 6 and Kirby’s Adventure in kindergarten and they were the first games to be “mine.” But I played the first six games in the series to the point where I still have the muscle memory to play through any of them without really paying attention as I play them.
As far as Mario Kart goes though, Mario Kart 64 was a huge game for me when N64 came out. Crazy thinking that I played NES as my only console til ‘95, and that I got an SNES later that year and binged it for like two years (thanks to rental stores and Game Genie, I got through a lot of games), and jumped to N64 Christmas ‘97, which I purchased with my own money after saving for well over a year. And I think generations feel too short now! Lol. But still buying the N64 myself with Mario Kart 64 was really important to me.
If you didn’t use the Wii wheel to play, then you never really played Mario kart Wii.
@Rhum17 Mario Kart and Smash share this trait. You beat all your friends and you think you're really good. Then you go online and jimmygamer99 beats you in 30 seconds.
And now I feel old. Admittedly, my first Mario Kart was Double Dash, which was pretty close to DS, but my brain refuses to accept that anyone who doesn't remember the Game Boy is old enough to have a job.
Yep I feel really old. My childhood games included Atari and OG Zelda….
My main memory of gaming when I was a kid was blowing tapes, loading screens, and screcchy sounds, the games themselves were all pretty average to be honest.
This was the first game i ever played. It IS my childhood. I will always love Mario kart wii
There's so many people who have this as their first/favorite! 😳
I think it's a step back on everything except track design and characters. But I'm glad so many people had fun memories with this one!! ❤️

Mario Kart Wii is still my favourite Mario Kart in the series.
