If you're a fan of extremely cute story-led management adventure games, you'll likely have Bear and Breakfast on your radar — you play as the titular bear, Hank, running the titular "and breakfast", which is short for "bed and breakfast", which is a type of cosy hotel that offers a bed, plus food.

In this new gameplay video, one of the developers of the game, Rares Cinteza, speaks to Game Informer about where the idea came from (playing Theme Hospital as a kid) and what you can expect from the game itself.

If you've played other management games like Two Point Hospital and Zoo Tycoon, you'll probably recognise the gameplay loop in Bear and Breakfast. You'll be renovating various buildings, turning them into cute cottages for people to stay in, and improving the area to bring back the tourist industry. As you progress, you'll meet new characters and new tourists with randomised needs, and it'll be up to you (a bear) to get them what they need.

"You start off with this run-down shack," says Cinteza, "but as the game progresses you get bigger and bigger buildings and you get more room types — you start getting bathrooms, you start having to worry about food, you start having to worry about heat, and so on and so forth, until the very end of the game when everything comes together and you have to manage three huge buildings with at least ten types of rooms."

There are around 220 items used for decorating houses and buildings in the game, says Cinteza, plus the opportunity to add more in future if the game is successful.

As for release dates, there's nothing concrete, but Cinteza says that the game is "very close to coming out" and that they're aiming for the first half of the year. It'll be available on Steam and Nintendo Switch at launch.
