Wave 1 of the Booster Course Pass is now officially live in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and as you might have guessed, there are now also now some patch notes available.
This latest update takes Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to Version 2.0.0. As noted below, Booster Course Pass play in online play will be supported as of 21st March. And once again, even if you don't own the DLC, you'll still get the chance to play on these tracks randomly.
Apart from this, item boxes now take less time to regenerate when a player takes one, and there are a number of fixes and various other problems have been resolved "not listed" below, that improve the overall gameplay experience.
Here are the full patch notes, courtesy of Nintendo's support page:

Still not live in North America which is disappointing.
Not yet.
I will update my Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tonight but I think I will be busy to play my purchased Wii games.
I'm not in hurry to buy the DLC at the moment as my gaming hype currently on other machines.
@Slinkoy1 It's working for me, updating now. Haven't bought the pass yet, but yeah.
@Slinkoy1 I know, right? The wait is physically hurting me.
@Joeynator3000 The update's been available for a couple days now. I can literally view the DLC from the game's menu but can't play it yet, despite owning it, lol.
No balance changes? I guess Waluwiggler will reign for all time.
It'll probably be a midnight thing.
@Nick2054 im having the same problem
anyone wanna talk about how the other cups show closed off bits, 2 having the cups logo? Not saying it means new tracks because im happy either way, but speculation is fun
I'm currently trying to get into an online match and hope the stage gets picked by a random Japanese player online. Speaking of which, I know NL doesn't like us talking about the Ukraine situation, but a lot of Japanese players have updated their usernames to say "NO WAR." I guess I just assumed the rest of the world outside Europe was largely apathetic to the conflict since it had little to do with them, but boy, was I wrong. It was very touching to see.
@Not_Soos thats awesome! Its nice to see people just being, yknow, good. Crazy hypothetical, i know.
@Not_Soos I live in the US and I can tell you the entire country has it's eyes on the situation, looking for ways to offer support and I would say 99.9% of us stand with Ukraine.
I've played through the 8 courses twice now. I'm in UK as was available since 11pm with my bought download code from shopto for £16.85.
Graphics are lovely in my opinion. Good to play some old (new) tracks on my Switch finally.
Love Paris Promenade! The track morphs i think during the final lap and you race through the Eiffel Tower!
Item box regeneration time shortened! I like it!
Glad to see that it will be added to the online rotation soon.
Can't afford the DLC at moment but my online subscription hasn't expired yet, there is some hope!
A little star shows up on the main screen next to the version number. WHERE'S THE PATCH NOTES ABOUT THE LITTLE STAR?!?
Wait? These courses won't be available for online races until the 21st? I really hope that's not the case!

@Nameless_Shame Yeah, I'm gonna have to look into it for myself later a little more. Carlson is incredibly inflammatory and outlandish, but I've seen Fox condemn Russia in plenty of articles, so I don't understand why they even give him air time unless I'm just missing something. I know he said something about Ukraine having bio labs, whatever that's supposed to mean, but that's about all I know.
I was so excited to try out the new tracks, until I realized they weren't actually available to play yet for me. Oh well, I'll get my chance tomorrow after work.
@nowthisisepic I know, right? It genuinely made me a little teary-eyed to see. And that was a couple weeks ago, and they still haven't changed their names back. No one really cares about your Mario Kart username, so to me, it felt a lot more genuine and not "looking for clout" like if they had put a Ukranian flag emoji in their Twitter bio or something. Not to judge or criticize anyone who does do that--I don't guess it really hurts anything--but as I said, it just feels a little more meaningful to see support coming from somewhere besides just on social media.
Worried for nothing. The new tracks look great
Tracks are fun. But I am a bit surprised about the graphics. They all look like as if just a fraction of the original effort went into.
I want to be excited, but this game, though excellent, is 8 years old. 9 this Summer.
It's as if they're actively avoiding counting to Mario Kart 9
@Not_Soos totally! social media ironically means less than fricking mariokart names. it feels real, because it IS. And thats incredible to see.
This is a massive update. They totally changed the balance of races by decreasing item box times. There are so many times that I’ve been trailing someone from a distance and felt cheated that the item box hadn’t respawned yet.
I thought the sound levels sounded a little different with the music slightly louder in game
"The update data contains fixes to issues that improve gameplay experience, and other content that is not listed here."
What's the point of providing patch notes then?
Patiently waiting for the announcement of the new battle courses..!!
