Nintendo released a course of DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch, which is officially the best-selling Switch game of all time. The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Pack contains 48 extra tracks taken from previous games in the series, along with the odd new track, too.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Release Date

As of 9th November 2023, all six Waves of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass are available to play through now.

As long as you have purchased the Booster Course Pass or are a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass subscriber, you'll have access to the new content.

When Did The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Waves Release?

The DLC was released in stages between March 2022 and November 2023.

Here are the exact release dates for each wave of DLC:

  • Wave 1 arrived on Friday, March 18th, 2022.
  • Wave 2 became available on Thursday, August 4th, 2022.
  • Wave 3 was made available on Wednesday, December 7th, 2022.
  • Wave 4 came out on Thursday, March 9th 2023.
  • Wave 5 was released on Thursday, July 12th 2023.
  • Wave 6 dropped on Thursday, November 9th 2023.

With all of those additions wrapped, it may be time — finally to begin discussing Mario Kart 9!

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Price

The DLC costs $24.99 USD / $32.99 CAN / £22.49 but comes at no additional cost if you own a paid Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.

If you're buying the pass, this is a one-off cost; once you've paid the cash, you'll get access to every wave of tracks as they're released until the end of 2023.

Do I Need The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass To Play The New Tracks Online?

Nope! Nintendo confirmed that only one player needs the Booster Course Pass to play online in Friends and Rivals races:

Courses from wave 1 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass can be played from March 18th locally or online in Friends and Rivals races, even if only one player owns the Booster Course Pass or has access to it as part of a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. From March 22nd, courses from wave 1 will also appear in the Random selection when playing Global or Regional races with anyone online.
