It's been a lovely day for Kirby fans, with Nintendo confirming that Kirby and the Forgotten Land is arriving on Switch on 25th March. It looks fantastic in a new trailer, too, so it's definitely jumping onto some wishlists.
It is also the 30th Anniversary year for the pink puffball, and to celebrate Nintendo has released a celebratory wallpaper. You can see it below, but be sure to head to the official website for the native resolution download.
It's a nice celebration of Kirby's various looks and power-ups, and has certainly got us in the mood to revisit some classics in the series.

Looks amazing!!!
Hint for the next n64 game? (Would love to replay crystal shards)
Looks kewl. Hopefully there's a lot more to this anniversary than just Forgotten Land (which I'm now hyped for compared to its reveal trailer) and Kirby 64 on NSOEP.
"Too much cute.." til you realize that kirby is an all consuming monster, that swallows souls, as well as bodies. Kirby seems to be the only one of his kind, probably after years of war/devouring, leaving kirby the last...kirby standing. Now on a conquest for the stars. Kingdoms try to stop kirby, only to be lost in kirby's cavernous maw and unending appetite.
@Kreko They had something like that on the wii right?
I would love some Kirby games to get good remasters for the Switch. Both Wii games and the first two 3DS ones would be amazing to have.
Only a matter of time before a Kirby Direct with details of the new one, Kirby 64 added on the Subscription, and a nifty pink Game&Watch with the GB and NES games.
@PhhhCough Kirby's ring name in SSBU is Demon in pink...Take that how you will.
@PhhhCough
Kirby lore is the truly the deepest out there
Kirby is one of my faves, I'm super excited for Forgotten Land and what the rest of the year holds for his 30th!
5 years to Kirby Game & Watch, calling it now 😉😆
So generous. Usually wallpapers are locked behind platinum points.
Truly is our year in games
The cutest eldritch abomination there is! Happy 30th!
@Angelic_Lapras_King id be down, im collecting those bad boys hardcore
funny how Nintendo completely ignored Zelda's 35th Anniversary yet are celebrating Kirby's Anniversary
I'm so lucky to share a birth year with The Kirb. Kirby we're getting old! Hungry for more adventures!!!
@Kreko The Wii game never even made it to Europe, had to import it. My Wii was already hacked for Project Zero 4 and Excite Bots (and emulation, since it was already hacked), so there's that.
@PhhhCough I now reimagine the definitive ending of Eternal Darkness, where all the ancient cosmic horrors are being sucked up by the ultimate one... A pink marshmallow with a black hole inside of it. And an angry frown in western depictions.
"Deep into that darkness peering... I realised my time was over."
Donkey Kong, which is much more important than freaking Kirby for Nintendo's history didn't even have a goddamn wallpaper but THIS thing is even having a brand new game.
Cute. Just cute.
@DK-Fan HAL labs handles Kirby and their focus is on their own mascot. So they tend to go all out for Kirby. Previous anniversary had merch, compilation , and even an orchestra concert. For DK to get nice stuff it’s Nintendo themselves who have to do it. 🤷🏼♀️
@KBuckley27 it’s HAL that is promoting and celebrating their character like this. HAL labs is very into celebrating it’s history and often referencing it’s previous works. You see this across the Kirby games. Nintendo has their own approach to their first party characters.
@KBuckley27
Technically not in house Nintendo with Kirby. It is Hal actually doing this.
Too late but just a reminder that they FINALLY remembered tiff and tuff!
