One of the biggest Nintendo releases is just around the corner. Yes, we're talking about Pokémon Legends: Arceus - an entirely new take on the longtime RPG series that takes place in the Hisui region.
In the lead-up to this release, Nintendo has been releasing more and more trailers, and now there's a new commercial. This newest one gives us another look at the different environments, Pokémon and modes of transports. Enjoy!
Up until May 9th, trainers can receive a special Hisuian Growlithe Set and Baneful Fox Mask if they purchase Pokémon Legends: Arceus before 9th May. To receive it, you'll need to connect to the internet and select the Mystery Gifts feature in your game.
In addition to this, you'll also receive an email with a code for 30 Heavy Balls, which can also be redeemed in the Mystery Gift menu. What do you think of the latest trailer? Excited about this one? Tell us in the comments.

that poker face makes me nervous
Well at least they're advertising the game alot.
But would some argue that they're doing it a bit too last minute?
I will be heartbroken, shattered, maybe even inconsolable, if a cute and cuddly Pokémon like Togekiss tries to brutally murder me in this game...
But nothing could possibly prepare me for a bit of brutality from Jynx either.
I'm worried because they keep using the same clips over and over, and we aren't getting much in terms of new news.
I’m still questioning the blue rhyhorn…anyone know what it is?
That looks... worryingly terrible despite being days from releasing 😭 It's not even the empty world, but the combination with incredibly poor draw distance that removes all semblance of detail at a distance (even trees)... It gives the game more of a "tech demo" vibe than an actual game.
I normally don't care about graphics as much, but Jesus Christ, watching today's Kirby The Forgotten Land trailer depressed me like hell by thinking what could have been if GameFreak put half as much love & care as any other AAA title by Nintendo.
This is such a shame for me at least, the art style is gorgeous. And it's the first time I've been excited about Pokemon in years... I guess I'll wait for reviews and pray GameFreak proves me wrong.
@Pickledthethird its Game Freak, what did you expect
Outing myself here as a total Pokemon casual, is it actually pronounced "AR-ki-us"? Is that how people pronounce it in general? I've only ever seen the name in print, never heard it, and I always read it as "ar-KAY-us" because I generally follow Greek/Latin pronunciation guidelines.
@Zarudepie it is indeed a Rhyhorn. it might be the lightning that makes him lightblue.
Any news on mulitplayer?
Whatever you say, Spike Speigel.
@iLikeUrAttitude
Ever see a McDonalds TV spot for a burger they are going to start selling in 2 years?
Up to this point this game has been marketed though online presence, media showings, and general Pokémon branding, which have been extremely prolific. Pokémon has been notably more in the spotlight in Japan for the last 12 months or so, and that's saying a lot. I mean most years you only get 2, 3 manhole covers TOPS!
In fact, I would say it's a little early for TV spots, which you generally use to drive impulse sales from people who know Pokémon is a thing, saw some marketing, but are not following the game at all. It's just reminding people it's out soon ... but I think a lot of people like that will have forgotten again by release.
Maybe they are trying to drive presales, but again, people learning about this on TV or who need TV to remind them it's a thing are not the type that pre-order games.
@JasmineDragon Watch the trailer. It's said several times there.
@JasmineDragon Oh boy. You're lucky if you even hear people say the right C sound.
@JasmineDragon Ar-ki-us. Interestingly, if you go by the Japanese pronunciation it should be pronounced ar-sea-us; in fact I believe that is how it used to be pronounced in the west. Take what I'm about to say with a massive grain of salt, but I've heard they changed it in the west because it sounds like you're saying "arse"
@Pickledthethird But why should they care that much when the fact remains that the game will sell potentially millions on brand name alone?
@Serge_G You sound genuine, so it may be worth asking... how important is the visual presentation to you? Does it actually matter to the point where it's more important than the rest of the package? If it's not on par with what you believe it should be, do you feel cheated, or don't feel like you want to reward what you consider to be bad practices? I really just want to understand the perspective.
@Pickledthethird I might be the only one who thinks this but, I feel like its the odd artstyle they chose, It has that old Japanese paper filter look to it, And the shading is, pretty different, So it might not be that it looks bad, maybe its just the artstyle, then again I feel like I'm the only one who thinks this.
@JasmineDragon I have been saying Ar-Kes, I thought I heard it said like that some where before, and I'm pretty sure thats not how you say it, But its a habit, a habit hard to break.
@BrazillianCara Thanks for asking. Truth be told, I only really mind lacking visual presentation when it gets in the way of gameplay. And at least for me, open world games with poor draw distance are just a terrible combination that takes out all the fun for exploration to me. Kind of like playing a FPS with bad controls, it just isn't enjoyable.
In case it wasn't clear, I'm not really expecting groundbreaking graphics (especially not from gamefreak), but one has to draw the line somewhere if you truly care about making a product better. Just buying mindlessly proves to companies quality doesn't matter to customers.
@Serge_G I see. I don't feel the same way regarding how visuals affect the experience, but thank you for explaining your point of view.
@VoidofLight We've gotten quite a few new clips within the past month, Japan has gotten more however.
People tend to be split on how they want their Pokemon news, many felt Sun and Moon revealed too much, but some want to know everything about the game before it's revealed. So they have to really deal with a massive fan base who all has very split ideas on how much they want to know about the game.
Personally, I think they've shown me enough and I want to discover the rest myself.
@JasmineDragon That's okay, I was pronouncing it 'Ar-See-Us' for know reason whatsoever 😂
@NintyRift I didn’t like how they handled the news in sun and moon, but I can’t say I like how they’re handling it here either. I think Sword and Shield’s cycle was a sweet-spot, assuming they’re not showing everything about Legends at the moment, at least in terms of gameplay.
Okay first, nice trailer, But....
They show the same footage what they already shown from the beginning, still nothing new. So for now its a no buy. I will wait for actual gameplay footage and reviews.
It feels so empty.
Graphics are still a disgrace for something being released in 2022.
Funny how the only part where it looks decent, it's written "not actual gameplay footage"
Meh. I still cannot cope with the awful visuals. Really a shame because the game looks fun.
@BrazillianCara For me it's a matter of competence and how one area dropping the ball is indicative of other areas likely having low standards as well. We know the studio has the budget to have high standards for themselves so when they release something so weak in so many areas there's really no excuse. They should be funding research into what makes a good modern game and hiring the talent to make it possible. The fans have invested countless hours and dollars of support and it's a bit of a slap in the face to get such embarrassing growth in return for our investment.
These trailers are getting me excited for this. Personally I'm really looking forward to it. Will be the first Pokemon game in a while I'm going to pick up. Maybe stop slating the game till its actually released.
@SpaceboyScreams great comment, couldnt have said it better. I used to love the franchise, it went down a steep hill since Black 2. It’s just insane how a franchise that’s actually the most profitable in the world I think, can evolve like 10x slower than even the worst competition. This would be an ok n64 game/ maybe gamecube. Super upsetting! Gamefreak should be so embarrassed and ashamed for keep releasing the exact same formula for like 30years, they lack any creativity, effort, lame team and work ethics, with no idea what good games are about- do they hire high schoolers to do their job, because that’s how it feels. They just want money and they do not care about the game community. Studios like this should be forbidden to develop games. They are like creepy dudes waving lollypops at little kids in front of their schools, and abusing it.Look at Zelda, it took a bold step forwards. They rely on the fact little kids will buy it, because for someone who is like 8 years old, it might be fine, but they totally ignore all the people who invested their time and money to support the franchise from the very start like myself! This is a huge spit in our faces from Gamefreak! Shame on them!!!!!!!!!!!! This should not be tolerated by Nintendo!
ngl, graphics arent the most important thing in gaming. But this one is just so much low-effort that it hurts. lmao.
imo its more of a problem of calculated risk and profit. they know they will make a lot of money despite the low-effort - and that hurts even more - I mean, they have been making a tremendous amount of money, why cant they put some back into the game?
Whats worse, only the consumers can send them a message but thats impossible with pokemon because people will buy it anyway and prove gamefreak right. Lets be real a backlash on the internet doesnt mean anything if the game willl make billions.
@Znake Well put, I share your passionate disappointment. Casual players wonder why some people get so upset, they can't understand the disappointment of seeing a huge part of their childhood getting mangled by a company that obviously doesn't give a crap. When I was younger I would daydream about where the series would evolve when I got older, and be excited to continue the hobby with my future children, but I never imagined GameFreak would be so stuck in the past and have such ridiculously low production values to the point where I feel embarrassed while I'm playing. I swore to myself before I forced my way to the end of Sword and its repulsive DLC that I would never touch another Pokemon game until they prove they aren't afraid to evolve the series. That remains to be seen with Arceus but I'm not getting my hopes up.
It was unlikely, but for some reason I had hoped they would have upped the graphics and performance since the earlier trailers. I like the concept of this game, but it looks and runs absolutely terrible. Maybe playing it undocked is the only way to make it sort of tolerable, but even then the art style is so disappointingly bland and mediocre.
@IronDaughter I thought I could’ve been frozen too but that’s unlikely as for lighting it makes sense.
I feel that more people here should be following the example of Serge_G and express their dissatisfaction in a way that doesn't sound like a hyperbolic tantrum-throwing. It makes it harder to take your opinion seriously.
Huh.
All this time I thought the "c" in Arceus made an "s" sound (like in mice).
It definitely sounds weird to me as a hard "kuh" sound.
@Pickledthethird Well I have actually been playing Okami, and no Doubt that those game Did the artstyle better, But just because another game did it better, doesn't mean its trash, I'm kinda at odds with the artstyle as well, and I do think it could have been better in a lot of places but it is no means trash, you don't have to like the artstyle.
@VoidofLight Ya that worry's me too, lets hope its because they don't want to show off all the gameplay, but still want to build the hype.
@Pickledthethird There is not doubt in my mind that it could've been better, They could if they wanted to, I just don't think its as bad as everyone is making it out to be, Its not the best but its not trash.
But what if the game turns out to be fun? Then what? is it still a crap game?
@Pickledthethird I don't think you have to go that far, I don't think it will be that bad LOL.
@Pickledthethird Hey look, your not hurting me, the company is not going to Lose nothing from your Pirating it.
But if your Pirating this game, why spend money on any games?
I just don't think its very needed, But you do you man.
@Pickledthethird But Its not even out yet, like dang.
But again you do you, I don't agree with it, but I can't tell you what or how to do things LOL.
And they deleted all of there comments, like it never happened, Welp.
