Remember The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess manga that was localised by Viz Media? Akira Himekawa - the combined name for the two artists behind this series - recently announced the next chapter would be the last one.
The Twilight Princess manga began life in February 2016 on Shogakukan's MangaONE app and entered its "final arc" in December 2020 - with the manga reaching the climax in the tenth volume, released on September 28th of 2021. The western run localised the ninth volume this year on September 14th.

Wow can’t believe I didn’t know this existed…can we get an anime adaptation then?
I knew it had a manga, but I assumed it ended by now, I agree with this guy ☝we need an anime!
I must of been living under a rock as this is the first I've heard of this manga.
Will the manga end complete? Nothing I hate more than supporting a manga then for it to stop half way through before the stories completion
This is cool......... I guess?
I really assumed that this was something akin to a 6-issue miniseries. I wonder if it gets deeper into the lore from the game, or if its just out there doing its own thing. I guess I need to put this on my radar, now.
@UltimateOtaku91 I mean it reached it's climax already, so I assume the story must be coming to an end.
I also never heard of this before, gotta read it now.
I remember seeing this in my jr. high/high school book fairs, I can't believe it hasn't ended yet.
I have all 9 translated volumes and it's pretty good. There is also Mangas for many of the other games too albeit much shorter (only being 1 to 2 volumes). I believe this started out as a 1 or 2 volume and then the creatures wanted to do a proper story with it.
Isn't this the one where Link threatens to rip a guy's arms off?
One of my kids has been collecting these. Not read them myself, but had a glance at some of the adaptations of the other stories in the series and it's interesting how the stories have been fleshed out to work in written/drawn form.
@Noid I only read the first book, but if I remember correctly, Link does slice a moblins arm clean off
Edit: Just checked and nevermind, I was completely wrong. He did threaten to slice their arm off, but failed and instead had his own arm chopped off. Fun times!
What the hell happened to the MKTrilogy article?
😝😝😝
That was some weird sh1t right there!!
I do like reading a manga chapter or two on my Fire tablet in bed before going to sleep, but unfortunately it doesn't look like any of the Nintendo ones have been released on digital storefronts here in the States.
I'd totally read it if it were available (I'm getting close to getting all caught up with Triage X, so I'm gonna' be needing something new to read too).
Of all the Zelda titles I'd love to see get an anime treatment, I think my top would be Majora's Mask, but Twilight Princess is definitely up there, and with a complete manga series to go off of, it seems like it could be a relatively straightforward way to adapt the series into such a format if they ever wanted to. Not to say they ever will, but great starting source material is clearly already there.
I have the first two books. I'll buy the rest now that it's about to be completed. I also have the box set of earlier Zelda manga from the same pair of artists.
My son has read all of the other LoZ manga, and has read 1-8 of Twilight Princess. He really enjoyed reading all of them and is waiting for vol. 10 to come out before rereading the entire series. Glad it is ending so I don't have to keep ordering them
This is easily my favorite of the Zelda Mangas. The Ocarina of Time one was also great!
Wow that actually cool
I have them all but haven’t had the time to read them. Glad it’s ending so I can go through all of them without waiting 5 months between issues.
Wow I live under a rock, didn't know this existed.
How did i not know this??
They are easy to get from Amazon btw … and still quite cheap. It’s the longest manga a Zelda game has received. There are also around 10 more mangas that cover each Zelda game.
This same artists were the ones who drew the Skyward Sword prequel manga in the first Zelda encyclopedia.
I have all of them so far. I put one underneath the Christmas tree for myself every year; every time my wife is surprised I get the same book every year 😀
I remember it being announced, but never knew they actually made it. I might read it someday.
I've been collecting them but have been waiting for it to finish before reading, won't be waiting much longer ( _)/
I own the manga for the other games. This probably means that they'll do a box set, yeah?
I have a few of the volumes, and I'm still trying to get the rest. I fell in love with Akira Himekawa's manga after reading Ocarina of Time. I'd love to acquire the rest of their library of Zelda adaptations.
But they don't just do Zelda. They even did Star Wars! That's right, they contributed a chapter to the manga adaptation of "The Legends of Luke Skywalker," where Luke and a young female biologist end up inside the stomach of an Exogorth (the giant space slug, like the one seen in "The Empire Strikes Back")!
Their chapter was easily, hands down, one of the most beautifully-drawn chapters of the book. The only other chapter that came close was "The Tale of Lugubrious Mote," drawn by fellow mangaka Subaru, about a flea-like creature living on the Salacious Crumb (the laughing creature at Jabba's Palace), who ends up befriending Leia after she is taken as a slave, and then helps Luke defeat the Rancor and the Sarlacc.
Frankly, all of it is worth a read, and I would love to see anime adaptations of both the Akira Himekawa Zelda manga, and "The Legends of Luke Skywalker."
Have the 9 localized books. Its a great manga. Love how they expand on a lot of the story and character's backgrounds. I think that anyone who reads them will feel a lot more inmersed next time they play the game.
Some Interest facts (potentialy spoilers!): We find out Zelda and Midna knew each other as kids. Link doesn't originally comes from Ordon Village. There are some nice references to link/illia relationship. Snowpeak mansion was owned by Asheis family and thats where she grew up.
My damn library won't buy these mangas (but they did get the Splatoon mangas). I hope sometime in the future, I'll get my hands on these.
It's a shame though, that their canon status to this day is still being disputed.
Been really enjoying this series. I figured 10 would be the last. I hope they do BoTW next.
This series would be perfect material for an anime adaptation though.
@UltimateOtaku91 I finished volume 9 recently and Link is heading to the castle so it will definitely finish at the same point the game does
@Goodnoodle5 if we still haven’t gotten an anime adaptation of the four sword manga or the link to the past one (why yes, I am named Roam)… I don’t see Ninty mining this easy source of profit for profit.
I'll believe this when it happens. Saga can end but remakes can happen so this Headline is misleading at best.
Nintendo seriously gave those authors the time to make more chapters of the manga?
That's impressive, I do hope that this gets an official anime adaptation in the future.
Wow I had no idea it was still going! I thought it ended long ago considering how longs it has been since it first came out. I guess there is far more content in this manga besides the video game stuff, that's very interesting. I will definitely try to get the full collection someday soon!
@SwitchForce ...a remake of a manga adaptation of a video game?
how is saying the manga is ending when it's finishing its final arc and no longer being made afterwards misleading?
