All Switch owners across Europe can currently claim a free trial of Nintendo Switch Online, even if you've already made use of a similar trial in the past.
Copying a very similar offer currently taking place for those with US accounts, the free trial offer is available to claim between now and 9th January. To get yours, simply head to the My Nintendo website, log in with your account that's tied to your Switch console, and activate the offer.
As a reminder, activating free trials of Switch Online will set you up for automatic paid renewals, charging you for a month's subscription once the trial is over. To get out of this, head on over to your Account Information in the Nintendo eShop once your trial has started, and adjust your automatic renewal settings.

This is good, but can get a free trial for the expansion pack? I at least want to know what paying for before dishing out 50 bucks.
Is the free trial for basic subscription or for the full shebang? If for the whole thing, could be worth it to try the N64 emulation. That said, I never redeemed the trial when it was first offered. I still haven't missed NSO since stopping in September.
Respectfully, no thank you.
It's a substandard service, another free trial doesn't change this.
@wHeReArEtHeChEeToS
Just dont yet, the expansion pack is greatly overpriced.
I made the mistake... and I am very disappointed
Its not only the low number of games included... is that N64 games have not aged that well really. Its not the case with most vintage 2D games that are totally enjoyable (at least most of SNES ones). Early 3D games have lots playability problems compared with today standards and the graphics are kind of ugly. Even one of the best games, Mario 64 have very frustrating camera issues. Sure, they are still great Nintendo games... but not at that price.
I don't think the US offer is current?? Unless I'm just stupid... the only offer I've found is expired.
(suggests not accepting any offer of a "free trial" for this "Nintendo Switch Online" for as long as it involves fees)
Sounds like they're in Panic mode 🙃. I wonder how many bought the expansion pak
Oh no Nintendo you're being too generous stop oh no.
I'd prefer an expansion trial, Nintendo. Or, you know, a reasonable price for the drip feed to come
Last time it would not activate, I would just get a blank screen or whatever. Hopefully it will work this time.
I just love those salty comments. I want to read salty comments every day. That's why I come to Nintendolife. For the salt in the comments.
Desperate mode i guess
@sanderev Careful of that high blood pressure. =P
The expansion pass is brilliant. I love splatoon 2 online. Cost me 10 pounds for the whole year even tho I don’t even open the nes/Snes/n64 apps. It’s dirt cheap when you split the cost
@Zequio yeah, you're right. In my opinion, you're better off buying it on the Wii U's virtual console. Mario 64 was $2 USD the other day, and even then (although this is a stretch) there's always emulators.
They're gettin desperate! I say as a subscriber since day one and also have the expansion pack...
Removed - disrespecting others
Meh tried it for a year. If I get that desperate urge to mario kart online I'll bother but for now. I'm good...
Desperation has entered the chat 😄
@Player_One 10 pounds to use your own internet, is great. Perhaps you could pay deliveroo 10 pounds to eat food from your own fridge?
I used the 7 day trial a couple of weeks ago, and even that felt like a rip-off. Most of the games that I play regularly have fairly minimalistic online functionality. There’s Tetris 99 (which I own physically for the offline DLC anyway), WarioWare has a weekly ranked “cup”, Brain Training also has a weekly event, and Pokémon’s online trading/battling mechanics have not improved one iota since the DS days, but now they want us to pay for the privilege of accessing it (and BDSP remain unfinished with the GTS still being inaccessible).
It’s just not worth it. I suppose one that plays something like Splatoon 2, Dead By Daylight, Smash etc. online regularly can rationalise the cost, but in my case, I hardly made any use of the so-called trial, and my perception of it being a rip-off hasn’t changed, no matter how “cheap” it is compared to the competition (as opposed to Nintendo’s four previous consoles, where it was free). And with respect to cloud saves, I would much rather back-up my data manually, and buy catalogue games a la carte, but we’re not even given the option in either case.
The fact that Nintendo has the audacity to charge for an “expansion pack” is even more comical. And as long as they’re including Animal Crossing DLC with it, they should have also thrown in the obscenely overpriced Pokémon Home membership to complement it, rather than charging around AU$27 per annum for that virtually nonexistent “service” on its own, which still doesn’t support BDSP (where exactly are those subscription monies going, again?). I refuse to pay for poor inhospitable “service”, and those who do are doing so to our collective detriment. But hey, it’s “cheap”.
I got the free trial twice and still didn't subscribe. It's tricky to do as had to activate from the website, not the Switch. I don't think I'll even get the trial this time, it's just not a compelling service to me.
Seven whole days? That's way too generous. Also I hate this model where you have to pay for online play. It's so ridiculous, they give away some games to try to make people accept it.
@Silly_G
"(and BDSP remain unfinished with the GTS still being inaccessible)."
"BDSP" and "GTS"?
