October is set to be a busy month for Nintendo with the release of the Switch OLED model and Metroid Dread just the beginning of it. Towards the very end of October though, we've got the arrival of Mario Party Superstars - the second Mario Party game to be released on the Switch.
This title includes an all-star line-up of minigames from the N64, GameCube, Wii and Wii U generations. In fact, there's a total of 100 to play, along with a collection of classic boards. In the lead-up to this game's release, Nintendo's Japanese YouTube has published a new three-minute introduction video. Although there are no subtitles, it still provides a look at what to expect:
During last week's Nintendo Direct, Mario Party fans also got a look at three returning boards - Woody Woods, Yoshi's Tropical Island and Horror Land. Mario Party Superstars will be released on the Nintendo Switch on 29th October for $59.99 or your regional equivalent. Pre-orders for the game are available now from the Switch eShop.
Will you be adding this upcoming release to your Switch collection? Tell us down below.

"It's Super Mario Party without hand cramps!"
Anyone else just kind of sick of this franchise?
So freakin excited!! I can't wait to hear the remixes to tons of minigames soundtracks.
Still holding on hope for Pauline.... Eventually. Haha
I love Mario party! This one especially looks great.
I'm going to buy it because I have switch lite and the current Mario party doesn't support it.
Can’t wait, I haven’t been this excited about a Mario Party in a long time.
Also in that Japanese overview you can get a glimpse of the same town/menu from the first game, mini game island raft and all. So I hope that means the mini game island is back.
I don’t believe I’ve played one since 4 but my family would like this one. It looks fun.
@justin233 At this point, I honestly don't understand how people could still want more Mario games with how much Nintendo has milked the series over the years. I understand that people have different tastes, but after a while, you'd think people would start to get bored of it or something. Who knows?
Not sure yet if I'll get this at launch. Recent Mario spin off titles really haven't been of the quality they once were so. But I do have a soft spot for the old Mario Party games...I just wish it wasn't just five boards! I hope there's more of them.
I'm hoping that ND Cube decided to go back to basics with this game to learn what was so good about the series in the N64 and GC era. I'm also hoping we get some board DLC with this one in the future. (Hoping for Western Land but if it happens it will probably be GC boards) I still feel like SuperMP not having DLC was a severe oversight as the barebones experience was practically begging for it.
It does look mighty fun but my god, dont Nintendo listen to anyone? Everyone who got the Super moaned about only 5 boards so they release a new one with just 5 boards. Beyond belief 🤷♂️
@justin233 No, we haven't had nearly as much Mario Party as we need the last 10 years.
I remember on GameCube when they pretty much had a new Mario Party each year. That was great
@NinjaGuy69 Some of us never get sick of Mario. In fact, we just crave more and more. It's like synthetic opiates.
Anyway, the original Mario Party has always been my favourite in terms of simple and effective minigames/boards and great music. Just not for the raw palms and piles of ruined N64 controllers. I'd prefer a straight remake of that with those parts taken out, but I guess this is the closest we'll get, so leaning towards getting it.
So many games coming put. Need to be carefull with my wallet
@NinjaGuy69
I‘d say the exact same thing about Sonic and those games aren‘t even half as polished as Mario games. Fans will always want more, be it music, games or movies.
And honestly, as long as they‘re quality games I‘ll keep buying them. As a kid I really loved Crash Bandicoot but Twinsanity felt like an isult to me so I stopped caring about the franchise.
Actually quite excited for this. Got a 6yr old Im introducing to Mario Kart and Pokemon at the moment so think this'll go down well for Christmas
@justin233 I was... but then I saw the trailer for the newest one. Seems like they are putting an actual effort into this one, even though it is a glorified remake/remix.
This looks FANTASTIC! can't wait
Super Mario Party is fun for the whole family, so we're looking forward to Superstars. It looks great!
@NinjaGuy69 this one uses some of the best boards and collects some of the best minigames. People generally consider the N64 games to be the best, so this gives us the best of them. I'm not usually interested in Mario Party these days, but am excited for this one
I wish they went “Ultimate” with this series.
Why only 5 boards? If it’s a celebration of all the Mario Party series, unlock the constraints.
Even if it’s unavailable at launch, that is OK but communicate the road map.
I’m all for jumping into Mario Party again (first time in 20 years) but for $80 CAD, I have a lot of options available this fall.
Looking forward to getting my family together for some Mario Party again. The game always brings us together. Lol.
@justin233 apparently not lol I have kids and a wife too so this is perfect for us.. single player would be boring af
So the hub world is exactly like MP1! And it looks great!
And something weird in the trailer, when Peach won a game, she is the only one getting coins (weird because we've seen where 2nd and 3rd get something else) so..... Do we get options for only 1st place getting coins!? I wonder if we get other options!? Changes to lucky spaces?
And the shop is back, so I wonder what it's going to be used for... Figures? Music player? Songs? Hidden characters? Hidden board?
I've already got Mario Party on the switch. I don't understand why Superstars isn't just DLC expansion for the existing game?
@justin233 No
@NinjaGuy69 this kinda thinking killed the original mario party method. We went to all in one cart gameplay because people said this. And when they kept with it it got complained and made worse. Super mario party was different and tried to go back but failed this one pooks like a return to form and thats good. As much as i hate saying this. "Dont like it dont buy it" because its better than what he had with 9-the 3ds games- to super.
And im fine with it
@MatoFilipovic id prefer a glorified remix or remake rather than a glorified port with non spin off games. Tphd sshd mario 3d allstars ect.
Wow it's gotten bad with the lack of ideas in gaming and film that they're now REBOOTING mini games?!
@Lady_rosalina I respect that. To be honest, I haven't bought a Mario game in a long time because I happen to think that the games have been pretty soulless as of late and just aren't entertaining. I bought 3D All Stars only because I assumed that the game would be difficult to find and I wanted it only for Sunshine (go figure). Just sad to see what the Mario franchise has become over this last decade or so.
Hopefully more boards will be available than the last one. Not at all worth the price point.
“Peaches CAKEee’ 😂
