As you may have already heard, it's Crash Bandicoot's 25th anniversary this year. Yes, like all of the other classic mascots, Crash is also getting on. While many fans were hoping for a big reveal this week, unfortunately, all there's been so far is a special video message.
In it, Toys for Bob co-studio heads, Paul Yan and Avery Lodato, reflect on Crash's history - celebrating his time in the spotlight as one of gaming's greatest icons, while thanking fans for their support over the years. Although there are no announcements, towards the end of the short video message, Lodato says we'll be seeing more of Crash "very soon".
"Happy anniversary Crash, we'll see more of you very soon."
This could obviously be teasing anything, but coming from Toys for Bob directly - hopefully, it means a new game or experience is on the way. There have been rumours floating about...
Earlier this year in May, there were reports about "layoffs" at Toys for Bob. Activision at the time denied this and said the studio would "continue supporting" the latest release Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time while assisting with the development of Call of Duty Warzone.
Crash Bandicoot's original trilogy series might have only made its debut on a Nintendo system during the Switch era, but his history with Nintendo platforms goes all the way back to the Game Boy Advance and GameCube generation in the early 2000s. You can see a full timeline of Crash Bandicoot's history over on Activision's website.
Happy 25th Crash! What would you like to see next from this iconic bandicoot? Tell us in the comments below.

I canβt wait to see what happens
New Skylanders game after Imaginators maybe, compatible with all figurines from Imaginators including Crash Bandicoot figurine.
@Anti-Matter Skylanders isn't coming back. The toys to life craze has been over for years, and died in a garbage fire. It was a terrible trend in the first place, locking content behind a paywall, and making it hard to actually finish the game if you didn't get all the figures and level packs. Imaginators failed, so they stopped making the games all together.
t Ok Ok, I'm always up for more crash, Just once I can 100% 4 π
@Anti-Matter Its just what @VoidofLight said, That game is dead.
@VoidofLight
Actually, i kinda have interest with toys to life idea (Skylanders, Amiibo Festival, Amiibo Cards for ACNL & ACNH).
I finished the storyline of Swap Force, Spyro's Adventure with just only using starter figurines. The elemental gates were optional branches so you can unlock them or not, didn't even affect at all with the storyline. For Superchargers Racing, you need at least 3 different vehicles though. The additional packs are optional, you can buy them as physical form of DLC.
@Snatcher
Well...
I joined the Skylanders party very late. π
During year 2021, i started to have interest with Skylanders games while browsing additional games for my PS3 and Wii U games library (before that i have no interest at all with those games).
So far i have collected Spyro's Adventures PS3, Swap Force PS3 + Wii, Trap Team Wii U, Superchargers Wii U, Superchargers Racing Wii. Still need to get Giants and Imaginators.
@Anti-Matter I never played it, Bc I was into the other toy to life games.
Crash Bash Remastered...? I absolutely loved that game as a kid
Watch it be playable Crash in Call of Duty
Crash for smash
@Anti-Matter Iβm with you dude, Iβd totally love another skylanders game. Dead franchise or not, Iβd totally buy it.
Smash Ultimate final character reveal incoming!
Well hopefully they can keep the momentum up and not kill the series.
With that said, despite the poor reception, I quite laughed my butt off playing the Titans and Mutant series. The meta humor was pretty good.
If it doesnβt happen itβs fine, but now I have a feeling Crash is set for Smash.
And just like that everybody forgets about the Activision protest. Congratulations, you have done exactly what they wanted you to do and forgot about the abusive work environment and harassment and evidence shredding because "New Crash!"
@PBandSmelly Wow you mean everybody? As in every single living human being alive right now?
@Anti-Matter @MasterJay I got back into Skylanders this year after being gone since 2017. Iβd love a new game, but itβs not gonna be announced during a Crash Bandicoot event. I actually want some Skylanders remasters, partially just to get all the games on current systems, cause Spyroβs Adventure and Giants arenβt on Nintendo Switch, Xbox one, PS4, Xbox Series, PS4.
@Pandy Oh yeah, I totally donβt expect to see one, Iβd just love to see the series come back in any form.
@VoidofLight The toys to life craze is still alive (however much life support it may need) in the form of amiibos and will continue to be alive until at least the last Smash DLC amiibo is released.
Also, given the recent Mario 3D World, Zelda Skyward Sword, and upcoming Metroid Dread amiibos, I wouldnβt be surprised if Breath of the Wild 2 gets an amiibo, and I doubt that game will come out until 2023, so cheers to two more years of sluggish amiibo releases!
@TyroKith
God, I hope so!
Crash is one of my most wanted for Smash.
@VoidofLight which means their could be a comeback. Look at the upcoming Matrix movie they just remade all three movies into one.
If they can market it right with a gimmick then it could happen.
Will be looking forward to it!
New Crash stuff is cool.
Activision is not.
Maybe California will be suing Crash Bandicoot?
Activision decided to change his name because a dismissed dev was called it?
Crash Bandicoot ends up in court for destroying evidence?
Ooo, it could be anything. Exciting...
@Scrubicius All I really could see happening is a new Skylanders that removes the main selling point of the game, and pulls a starlink.
@SmartNickname can here to write this.
Iβd love to have: Crash Bash 2, CTR2, Crash in Smash & Crash 5.
@SmartNickname exactly what I was thinking! π
Had a lot of fun with that one, although we never 100%ed that game.. Wasn't for lack of trying though!
@PBandSmelly They moved on pretty quick to continue supporting Ubisoft news as well. None of these outlets actually care to blacklist company news.
On topic: If it has anything to do with the rumour listed, then hope it burns in a fire fast.
@garfreek yeah, some of the levels were incredibly difficult
Whatever you do, just buy it used.
What about Spyro. I like Spyro a lot better.
