Nintendo Teases Microgame Mayhem In Wario's Upcoming Switch Release

I'll keep an eye on this just in case, but...eh, wasn't even interested in Gold when that was announced. Honestly I just want a new Rhythm Heaven instead. :c

Eh, I'll probably not buy this one. I liked me some Wario Ware back then, but this one I'm just not feeling for some reason.

@Joeynator3000 WarioWare Gold was really fun in my opinion. Rhythm Heaven Megamix is in an entirely new league, though. I want a new RH as well.

Just wish we’d get a demo. I played the gold demo for hours while waiting for the full game.

@StephenYap3 I'm concerned that playing directly as the characters will end up making every mini game feel the same and get old quickly. 😕 Also don't know if it will feel good to move the characters with the stick as it seems to be built around Joycon motion play? (Personally don't like playing that way)

Worried this is looking like another of Nintendo's "change for the sake of change" game developments. You know, the kind, when the changes don't actually make the game more fun to play? And it's usually a new control style.

Truly hope I'm wrong! But at the moment I'm more excited for Mario Party Superstars than this one.

@Clyde_Radcliffe : Yeah. I was absolutely crushed when they revealed the mechanics for this in the Direct. This was not what I wanted at all.

It also smacks of yet another example of Nintendo kowtowing to handheld players instead of giving us a proper motion-controlled successor to Smooth Moves. I was similarly disappointed that they never made a WarioWare game that took advantage of the Wii MotionPlus accessory.

IF it is the case, however, that there is another WarioWare game in the pipeline next year, then all is forgiven, but I hate being left in the dark for the better part of a decade only to wind up a glorified tech demo on Wii U and a "greatest hits" compilation at the end of the 3DS's life (that didn't even make use of the console's stereoscopic 3D capabilities).

I want to get up on my feet and look stupid, dammit!

Either way, it's still a new Wario game, and I'm still excited, but I can't help but be disappointed all the same. Quite frankly, I would have preferred a barebones port of Smooth Moves, which should perhaps give some indication as to the extent of my disappointment.

I'm very excited for the new game. If Metroid Dread wasn't also releasing this year, WarioWare: Get It Together! would be my most anticipated game. It's a day one purchase and will probably end up being my favorite new game of 2021 until October 8th.

As fun as the game seems...I still wish they'd give us a new Wario Land. I'd love even a remake of the first one on Game Boy. Wario Ware is cool and all but I'm simply not a fan of how this series has cast the Land series aside, you don't even see much of the Land series in Smash Bros. It feels like as if a game like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon would come out and no main Pokemon games would follow anymore.

I was excited for this game. But then I went to the official website and it said that the controls are motion control and touch screen. I do not like motion controls. So unless the game has the option of all touch screen, for the games then I will be passing on this one. Oh well I am more looking forward to Mario party super stars any way.

@Silly_G I think the setup of Joy-Con being the main controllers for Switch ended in 2018. While there were 2 games after that (Labo VR and Ring Fit Adventure in 2019), both of them required you to buy peripherals anyway so any successor that uses Joy-Con could just have a bigger peripheral bundle with Joy-Con included.

The way I see it Super Mario Party and Pokemon Let's Go was the major finale for the Joy-Con.

Honestly can't wait. Even the sub par Wii U game I play still. Was warioware on the DS that got me back into gaming after going through a phase of not enjoying it and selling all my stuff.

Now Wario just reminds me of Elon Musk.

Very unfortunate if that really is true, there's a lot of potential still left on the table, especially for something like WarioWare. I'm sure the game will still be great fun, but I had hoped that more games would make use of the joycons features as a central focus instead of just making everything for the lowest common denominator.

How many WarioWare characters are playable in this game?
I guess the first time through the main mode you just pick your favourite character which makes some microgames puzzling and some easy. Which isn't a problem as long as they're fun. But the game's core is not just fun, it was always about getting highscores as well, and now the minigames can be solved in different ways which makes them more replayable. I'm not quite sold, but sold enough to try it. My favourites so far are the first WarioWare on Gamecube, WW Smooth Moves (Wii), and especially WW D.I.Y. (DS).

Still keeping an eye on this one. I was excited about the initial announcement, but now I'm not sure I'm on board with the showcased controls. Will have to wait for reviews, and I'd also appreciate a demo closer to launch.

I was a little surprised at how on the nose that pre-E3 report about the cost of a new WarioWare turned out.

In any case, I'm glad Switch is finally getting a new entry in the now old series.

Releases in September and is priced a little bit lower than full price. Hmm… very tempting, but I may wait for Christmas time.

I haven't really played a WarioWare game since the Gamecube or GBA version. As long as fans of the series find this one great, I'll pick it up.

They took the zanyness of past games

@Grumblevolcano Nintendo makes a lot of motion control games. They just put out Skyward Sword, before that Game Builder Garage uses it (like the 4 LABO's that came before it), so does Mario Golf, you mentioned Ring Fit Adventure, there was also that Jump Rope game, Clubhouse Games 2 (Bowling, Yahtzee, Darts, etc.), Super Mario 3D All Stars, Super Mario 3D World & Bowser's Fury, Fitness Boxing 1, Fitness Boxing 2, Pikmin 3, and I'm sure there's some that I'm missing.

It would seem that you're not playing motion control games or just not using motion controls, so you assume that they don't exist, but you'd be wrong. With the Switch, Nintendo was forced into making multiple play options to accomodate the portable people who might not have the setup required for such games. So they include lots of options for people like that, like the easy to splat targets who chose analog controls over motion controls in Splatoon. I think it's great, they get to play how they like, and I get to splat them with superior reflexes that motion allows me, same with ARMS, etc. That's not the case for everything, I think with Mario Golf, having the meters there to see your strength can be helpful to play good, but swinging the joycon is a lot more fun.

I'm not sure how I feel about hearing a woman yell out the prompt at the start of each mimigame. I hope you can disable that, because I could see it getting a little annoying.

Getting this! Best ww games for me were Smooth Moves, touched on the ds and the 2 on the gba.

I’m a huge Wario fan so yeah, without question I’ll be buying this day one. I’m excited to get Warioware on the Switch!

I mean, I'm happy to see the Switch getting a Wario Ware game, but at the same time the new idea just isn't doing anything to grab me.

I prefer the more "focused" structure.

Same. When I was at Just Press Play after the E3 ended (I missed it) I heard them mention a new Wario game. Now I got excited because I was just about to ask them what Wario Land games they had ( I was looking for Shake It), but it turned out to be a new WarioWare.

Looks like a blast to me!

@Krisi Glad I got my 3ds back, rushed to by megamix when it dropped but never finished it. Picked it up a month ago and it was great.

@Grumblevolcano Motion control found its way into Paper Mario: The Origami King, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, Mario Golf: Super Rush, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, so basically all the major Mario and Zelda games keep motion control. And then some (Pikmin 3 Deluxe, New Pokémon Snap, Game Builder Garage). I bet BotW2, Splatoon 3, and Metroid Prime 4 will have motion control as well.

Compared to Wii they have slowed down. Now they don't shoehorn it into everything possible. They learned a bit and use it mostly when it makes sense.

We love Warioware in our household so it's an insta-buy from me. I think I have owned every Warioware game ever released at some point.
