Earlier this month, Pokémon GO developer Niantic announced it would be assembling a special "task force" to address player concerns raised about interaction distance.
In its latest post via social media, Niantic has shared a brief update on the situation. While the task force plans are still scheduled for 1st September, the team has decided to take action and change PokéStop and Gym interaction distance from 40 to 80 meters.
In a follow-up tweet, the company acknowledged how the players and game's community had been heard - with more information to be shared next week.
The purpose of the task force, as previously explained, is to develop proposals designed to preserve the game's mission of inspiring people to explore the world together, while addressing the concerns regarding interaction distance.
So, there you have it - 80 meters interaction distance is back. What are your thoughts about these changes? Tell us down below.

This is great. Don’t listen to the haters when you collectively make you’re voice heard sometimes they listen
This is great, while I personally didn't have many problems is is just easier this way, now I don't have to walk around for example the nearest groccery store just to get it's pokestop. I know other people had more issues though.
Interesting, they bent. Wonder why.
@BloodNinja B-b-b-but you said our voice doesn't matter and I'm going to cry when the game's servers shut down soon!
Why only 80 meters? Could have been 120 meters. Should have, that way we can play in the comfort of our homes.
@Paraka 80 meters is 262 feet
this is great.
this will also in no way make players less likely to explore places. you still have to move around if you wanna hit up multiple and/or new stops.
there is no downside to this ❤
@CharlieGirl - Corrected. But statement still stands.
@BloodNinja It's called listening to your community and the people who play your game. Especially one that's socially driven. It's also not a negative move or anything.
I'm glad! I've basically stopped playing since they made that change since it ruined my usual go to places, so I'm excited to get back into it!
Honestly, I don't really care about this since I still can't access gym near me, epic if you can access gyms
@ivory_soul No, I don't think it's negative, but I'm surprised that they are caving instead of giving the public their vision of the game.
I wish it was like 1km, so you could sit in your house and go to everything you could see on your map
I still think the "outrage" was massively over blown. But that doesn't mean I don't prefer the 80m. Cause I do. Lol
Should have stuck to their guns and not given in to the crybabies.
Wasn't it only the US and New Zealand that had been reduced to 40m? There had been no change here in the UK, so the fact that they're making such a big deal about undoing the change seems pretty pointless.
Personally, I don't think the change to 80m was needed... it's useful, yes, but it was only supposed to be temporary and we got on fine with 40m before, so if we did go back to 40m I wouldn't have any problem with that, it'd just take a bit of getting used to.
@BloodNinja Their vision is to milk people as much as they can, and that's easier to do when the players are happy with your product.
@Octane Haha very true.
@Paraka Ok now you are just getting greedy.
@Dafirelive - Explain, it's no different than the expansion it is now. It is literally just more of what people want.
People still play this?
