Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, published by Nacon and developed by Kylotonn Studios, is certainly an intriguing release on the way to Switch. It's a title that promises an open-world approach to driving, which brings to mind the concept of the Forza Horizon series as an example. Though it may not be as sparkly on Switch as some other platforms, we certainly hope Nintendo's system will get a good port.
During this week's 'Nacon Connect' the publisher unveiled some new details. As you can see in the cinematic trailer above we now have a setting, Hong Kong Island, and confirmation that the game will launch on 22nd September 2022; it's a fair way off.
Navigate the bustling island in glorious 1:1 scale, and be absorbed by the city. Pick your path as either STREET or SHARP and let your personality shine.
What we don't have yet is game footage, which is understandable with release so far out. While it's a little disappointing to see it's so far away, at least this sets realistic expectations.
We'll keep an eye out for more information, and gameplay footage, in the coming months.

I'm just puzzled how they can be certain of a release date at this point? Original was fun if kind of rough, one to perhaps keeps an eye on.
I'd imagine it will be like the orignal, but looking at the wrc games they have done for Switch, I imagine this really will not look great.
I'm going to keep an eye on this one. Still wish we'd get a good motorbike game tho.
Great news, I love hong Kong, one of my favourite places on earth. Bit concerned how this will run on the Switch, might just pick up the Xbox version instead.
I will 100% get this on ps or xb but will happily double dip if runs half decent…
I love racing games, Hong Kong is a magical setting, they’ve nailed this in terms of setting… not the same old city recycled like LA in a racing game.
Oh Great!!!, This is what I expected about this game, Test Drive is back !!
well..., only 1 year to wait. XD
-"which brings to mind the concept of the Forza Horizon series as an example"-
Test Drive unlimited was among the first to use the concept of complete regions as open world for racing, since its first version (well, the eighth) since 2006
Considering these guys also made TT and WRC series for Switch, I think the game will look just okay. Nothing scenic!
@Brummieendo90 Isle of man TT 2 is alright on the Nintendo Switch and RiMS Racing is meant to be coming out in August 2021.
@turnmebackwards Thanks I''l check it out as i liked the original especially the Northern Ireland track I've been round in real life.

I fear I have become very predictable...but I do so love a good racer!
@SpringDivorce This one is not made by original devs, but KT Racing have improved in recent years so there is hope.
I'm surprised this beast of a game can even run on Switch.
Expect mediocre gfx.
I'm gonna play this on PC instead.
Oh what? Is this the same Test Drive series I played on PS1 in the 90s? Test Drive 5 was one of the first games I ever got as a kid.
Admittedly mostly because my dad was a big car guy. Personally the realistic racing genre never really interested me. But it was kinda cool seeing real world cars in a video game at the time. And I remember thinking the game had pretty cool music.
@SakuraHaruka was going to comment the same thing, I remember my older brother being really excited for Test Drive Unlimited 2 to come out when we lived at home with my parents like 10 years ago. So it's quite an old concept at this point.
I'm a huge fan of Test Drive Unlimited 1 + 2 on PC. Will most likely play Solar Crown on Steam as well.
Have to love the fact that it appears the inclusion of gambling net this game a PEGI 18 rating.
@Heavyarms55
Yes, it is.
Simply is another company who have the Ip, because Infogrames (Accolade)/Atari, by its bankruptcy, sold the Ip...
Now what will it really look like on Switch?
❗I LOVED TDU2 on PS3 so this will be a day one buy.
