Surprise! The rice farming game Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin (which we thought was pretty neat, by the way), will be joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in spirit form.
Nintendo has announced the latest event - taking place this Friday, and lasting for a total of five days - will feature three new spirits from the above-mentioned game. Here's a look:
If you've not tried out Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin yet - there are plenty of reasons to give it a go with incredibly detailed rice farming simulation, fun combat and a satisfying cycle that keeps you coming back for more. Read our review here.
Sakuna spirits aren't the only new ones in recent times. If you picked up a copy of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin last week, you will be able to also grab a special themed spirit based on this game. Don't worry if you didn't though as it'll be available to everyone else at a later date.
Will you be booting up Smash to unlock these Sakuna spirits? Leave a comment down below.

That's nice, it also reminds me I gotta go back and finish Sakuna.
I need to get this game on Steam some day.
Was not expecting this game to get a Spirit event - I just assumed the next one would be for NEO The World Ends With You, considering we've had spirits to tie into Trials of Mana and Bravely Default II. I'm pleasantly surprised.
@Longondo - This just reminded me of a friend who got banned from his Discord for laying out a joke video script for a Nintendo Direct talking about a "sponsor," only for it to be an ad for Raid Shadow Legends and it actually being a Troll video for the orc dude in Smash.
Apparently fun is no longer allowed.
But as for the main subject; This is cool, maybe something more Sakuna in future games would be considered.
@Paraka If it's his discord why would he get banned from it?
@TechaNinja - "His" as in the one he was currently in.
That's a common social referencing use.
Cool. I only just bought the Divine Edition the other week for the Switch.
Alright never expected this, was definitely interested in the game for a while though
Yes, please. I'll try to attend, especially after awkwardly missing a bunch of previous new spirit events (although they do continue to show up on the board afterwards, but a lot more randomly in a pool of thousands). All the more fitting as I recently picked up the game myself - very worthwhile so far.
@rushiosan Same. Can’t wait! (Just so busy, hard to find quality gaming time.)
