Heck yeah, another game about sedate pastoral life! We know that there have been a few lately, but we just can't get enough of them. Cozy Grove is the newest game from Spry Fox, who you may recognise from hit mobile games Alphabear and Triple Town, and it takes a lot of inspiration from Animal Crossing.
Much like New Horizons, you're on an island, with a colourful cast of characters, but the twist is that they're all dead. Not in a spooky, haunted way - you're a Spirit Scout, and it's your job to help these ghosts in their afterlives. By decorating, crafting, and renovating the area, you can bring colour back to the world.
Switch players will get exclusive content for the game if they pre-order Cozy Grove from the eShop: the Ghost Bear Outfit, the Mr. Kit Outfit, and a Cherry Blossom Dress.
The developers note that the game was designed to be a game that you can "comfortably settle into", and while they estimate that the story campaign will take 40+ hours to play through, they don't want people to feel like they have to play for eight hours a day to get everything out of the game.
"We want Cozy Grove to become a delightful ritual that you look forward to every day, and for it to remain that way for many weeks, months and possibly even years.
When everything else in your life might be chaotic, Cozy Grove will hopefully be a place you can predictably and regularly find a bit of joy."
- David Edery, Spry Fox CEO
So, there you have it - Cozy Grove has lots of cozy, and probably plenty of grove, too. The game comes to the Nintendo Switch eShop on the 8th April, and pre-orders will be available from the 25th March.

I am more enthralled by the team's namesake than the game.
Quantum Astrophysicists Guild... Dude that's a mouthful.
Does it have a smoke monster and a spooky hatch?
I initially read that as "Crazy Gove" and thought it was a totally different type of game...
Doesn't look to appealing visually, but it looks alright mechanically.
I like the way it looks (art-wise), sure. I’m not a fan of the eyes though. It’s kinda... Bratz dolls-ish. Can’t please everyone I know.
I’m curious about this game though. It looks kinda neat.
I’ve come to learn about myself that how much I like and can play these types of games comes down to the control scheme and UI. For example, I for the life of me, cannot get into Stardew Valley because of that. I can’t get past the menu designs. I ended up throwing precious items away by accident and all other stupid stuff that ticks me off.
If anyone knows what I’m talking about here, the way the characters move and look reminded me of the original Pet Society (RIP😭) for some reason haha. I’m buying this day one, it looks cute
Reminds me a lot of Don't Starve in terms of art direction. Looks interesting though and I'll keep an eye out
Definitely looks like a cute version of Don't Starve, but something does seem slightly off.
Hopefully they release more trailers.
it´s only me that sees this is dont starve together artstyle?
I have this via Apple Arcade, found it to be pretty boring so far.
pre-ordered
seems right up my street!
@Kensui It's not though. Side by side the two employ a very different tone, colour palette, textures and shape language. Plus don't starve is a 3D environment with 2D sprites whilst this is a fixed 2D isometric view. You wouldn't get the soft and cozy feel of this game with Don't Starve's spikey and jagged shape language or scratchy textures, and vice versa.
They're maybe reminiscent of each other in that they both employ hand-drawn heavily outlined 2D sprites, and that is an uncommon visual in games. But that's it.
