Developer Orangepixel has confirmed that its tough, retro-style platformer Stardash will be jumping onto the Nintendo Switch eShop later this week.
Described by the studio as a love letter to the classic platformers available on Nintendo's beloved Game Boy, Stardash is pretty simple on the surface. Players simply have to run from left to right, jumping over platforms, avoiding hazards, and collecting coins and meeting various goals to unlock stars and hidden levels along the way.
The Switch release is a port of 2018's Stardash Remastered, a considerably cheaper alternative available on smartphones ($9.99 on Switch compared to just $1.99 on mobile). Of course, the Switch is arguably the ideal current platform for any Game Boy-inspired titles, but you'll have to decide for yourself whether or not that leap in price is worth it.
Here's a selection of screenshots and a list of key features:
Key Features:
- RETRO from gameplay, to graphics, to chiptunes!
- This game is CHALLENGING, not kidding or exaggerating!
- Star challenges – complete the levels in multiple ways to unlock the stars
- Addictive – The short-form levels, and instant-retry gameplay might get you hooked!
The game will be available on the Nintendo Switch eShop from 7th January, priced at $9.99 / £7.99.
As ever, feel free to share your thoughts on this one in the comments below.

Reminds me of super Mario land. Any good?
They sure don't make it easy to pick these games up with the ludicrous pricing.
I know I moan about price hikes a lot, but a 400% price increase between systems is pure greed and the publisher is praying on people's nostalgia here.
Hopefully this launches on a deep sale like a lot of indies do and I will grab it, otherwise I will pick it up for Android as I do like the look of this one.
Love the look. But it reminds me of those troll SMM levels that don't even seem fun. I'll check out a review first to see if I'm wrong.
I think that looks like great fun, although I could see myself screaming with rage at it 😆
For 8 quid though, I'll wish list and wait. Not being funny, but you can get Thronebreaker or Creature In The Well for 8 quid right now.
Looks a lot like Kid Tripp, but bad. 😞
ha! switch getting taxed AGAIN!
WHO WOULD HAVE SEEN THIS COMING???
This is one of the many reason i sold my switch after two years and a half of ownership. I was tired of all the ludicrous prices third parties kept charging.
I'm good on ps4 now, i can even get the trails of cold steel games cheaper, and ys 8 as well
Stick it on the old watch list, it’ll be a quid in a month or two. You can thank me later!
