Amazingly, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit has already been out in the wild for almost a month now, and we're sure plenty of you have been building all sorts of crazy courses around your homes – probably annoying your cats in the process.
If you're feeling a little stuck and are in need of some inspiration, though, the video above might be exactly what you need. Nintendo has shared a few course creation tips designed to freshen up your Mario Kart Live gameplay; it covers shape experimentation, gate customisation, branching paths, and more.
If you're still yet to give Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit a try, feel free to read/watch our full review to see if it sounds up your street. You'll naturally benefit from it more if you have a decent amount of room to play in, but we thought it was a fun new take on the series.
Have you got Mario Kart Live at home? How are you finding the process of building your own courses? Let us know with a comment.

I cant buy its out of stock all the time thanks to the scalpers
Hadn't thought about driving back through a gate. Good idea. That's tonight's gaming sorted.
I'd really much rather work with a track editor in Mario Kart 8 or 9.
Challenge for everyone.
Make FF VIII Circuit from Chocobo Racing for Mario Kart Live Tour. 😁
The track looks like this.
Its cute that they show you the outline of the course by using blocks/cups or other little objects but in practice these items are more trouble than they are worth. If you collide into them, which happens a lot because, well, kids .... and bananas, they will of course move and cause a mess. Large and unmovable objects works much better as a barrier, plus you need to hold down those gates (cans of beans work best). Finally print out more arrow markers! (https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2020/10/ruined_your_mario_kart_live_cardboard_gates_dont_worry_you_can_print_more_at_home).
P.S. When creating the course make sure you take wide turns, rather than drawing it using the racing line. This tends to prevent the Koopas from 'cheating'.
@EngineerMario I think that's more of a local stock issue than a scalper issue.
There's the usual idiots trying to upsell on ebay, but this is readily available (at least it is in the UK) online.
@ChaosBadger777
UK does not really have the issue but the states it's a big thing i barely got one in may there was a massive shortage with the switch in the states but now there's more. At a point the lites were out of stock in a few seconds.
I'd be fascinated to find out how this has sold. It looks so cool but I just can't justify it at that price.
With everything else going on in gaming and the wider world, I'd honestly forgotten this existed.
I’ll be getting it in December. Looks fun
@macman Have you encountered any issues with the kart itself? My kart really struggles turning left now, it seems to lock up, whether i'm on tile or carpet. I've cleaned out the wheels with hair with a tweezer best I could, but when I start up again at most I get about 3 laps in before it starts to have issues again. Is there a better way to clean out the wheels? I'm worried there might be some hair that's really gotten in there and wrapped around the axle now
There should be a cat track :3
@kryptonite73 actually yeah I seem to have had an issue with left turning, but mostly noticed it on 200cc. But on 200cc, like in MK8 deluxe, you should actually break for sharper turns.
@EngineerMario in Germany the price went even down to 80 euros... it's bad planning by big N, then 😐
@Anti-Matter I like the sound of that! And why stop there, they could have special events where other games in the NINTENDO UNIVERSE. Could drop in.
@EngineerMario I'm sorry, I don't understand your comment. It's been out for a month?
By the time I figured out this existed it was sold out.
@EngineerMario keep an eye out on Amazon, they will backdate them now for u to grab one to get it in pre-order form when they get more, i think its good how they r doing it, i successfully got one backordered, add it to ur cart n keep it there and watch it constantly its what i had to do! good luck mate!
@Yosher I hate realllllly hate 8 Delux, it gets sooooo boring!
@RealChris Well, that's too bad for you, I've had tons of fun with it.
@Yosher its okay, its not for everyone, i am just more into the original Mario Kart 64, feels more legit to me, just my opinion.
@RealChris Mario Kart 64 is not the original, that's Super Mario Kart.
And yes I love that one too, I played it back in the day and played every Mario Kart since (aside from Tour and Home Circuit). They're all great in their own right! From the first to the last.
@Yosher Meh, tomato, tomatoe, for me, it was the original, I never actually owned the SNES version, when it released on 64, I heard about it tons n bought it and had a blast with the 64 version!.
@RealChris It being the original for you doesn't actually make it the original though. Either way MK64 is still great yeah.. although arguably stood the test of time the least. Still great fun regardless.
