In September, the long-rumoured Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was officially announced for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
While there was no formal mention of a Nintendo release, a Ubisoft Twitter account at the time posted and then removed a tweet making reference to a Switch version. Pre-orders for a Switch copy of the game also temporarily went live and this followed with box art surfacing online.
To top it off, another two retailer listings for a Nintendo Switch version of the game have now appeared in Greece (thanks, Nintendo Life user Geobros). These websites include GameExplorers and The Console Club. The same cover art is once again on display, and the release date is also 21st January next year, which lines up with the launch on other platforms.
Senior analyst at Niko Partners Daniel Ahmad (who previously implied the remake wouldn't be coming to the Switch at all) more recently said a Nintendo release wouldn't be happening "in January".
Both of the above-mentioned websites have already revealed a local version of the recently announced Final Fantasy VII / VIII Remastered Twin Pack well ahead of its official announcement.
If we hear anything official about the upcoming Prince of Persia remake coming to the Switch, we'll be sure to let you know. In the meantime, tell us if you would like to see this title released on Nintendo hardware.

Probably not
My fear is that it will be a cloud version.
I mean, does anyone have high hopes for this game?
This isn't the same Ubisoft that was around when the original game came out..
Well it’s not going to be any more taxing than Immortals. It’s also not going to be very good, I’m calling it now. A shame as I loved the original on GameCube.
@Rpg-lover
The remake doesn't look anywhere hardware-taxing enough to require a cloud version.
This will be a late port on Switch that will porbably launch alongside the PS5 and XSX|S versions. Same with Crash Bandicoot 4 and Tony Hawk 1/2 Remake.
It's better than having no news on third-party support.
I love sands of time. Was very under awed with the trailer for the remaster. I hope to be proved wrong.
Honestly this game looks like it can run on a toaster,
so if it's available on a Console that looks like a toaster, it would be fitting.
I would be all over this.
@HotGoomba___Rebrand To be fair, that looks like a toaster with top specs tough.
A remake? That seems like too much effort. We need 60 dollar direct ports.
Delivery by cloud, I ain’t gonna be wow’d
everything is possible now that cloud is used
@StefanN Yeah, but a toaster is a toaster.
And all toasters toast toast.

I'm hoping for this, XIII, Skater XL, Maneater and Doom Eternal to get ported
I'll probably just stick with my original Gamecube trilogy. They look way better than this ugly ass attempt to remake a 17 year old game. This could have been so much better but nah they took the lazy route.
My backlog is so huge there is zero chance I buy this game just because they decided to make it look like a game made in 2015 instead of what it looked like when it first shipped.
who's cares? Ubisoft = Ubi%*****
@westman98 i hope so, laziness may make them to go down that road.
Can't wait for Ubi$oft to ¢ome and yap their lips that this is false again.
It is official, the game is coming on Switch. Company have confirmed the 2 retailers.
With 3D All Stars we know there's functional Cube emulation, so I'd be happy with a port of the original.
Glad to see its coming to switch but im going to wait for a sale and get it for PS4 as portability doesn't really matter for an 8 hour game.
Chasing the trophies will at least add some longevity too it that would be missing on the Switch (although I haven't seen the list yet to see if it would be a fun platinum)
Sure it will, and there’s definitely a Mass Effect collection coming to Switch as well.
@HotGoomba___Rebrand If anything, that seems like a LOT of wasted resources, and a LOT of stuff to ensure it will no longer work shortly after expiration of its warranty period. Definitely not a toaster like I know them.
It will. We have it on pre-order for several months here in Bulgaria from our top retailer.
It is just a matter of time.
They will not be taking money if it was not confirmed internally!
We know how this works from Ubisoft and Activision- they sell it to you on the PS4 and XB1, then if they can get it to work on the Switch they try to sell it to you again to play hand held.
Even if the Prince of Persia Remake doesn't come to the Switch. At least Ubisoft is coming back to that classic franchise.
This remake looks really rough. Can't say i'm too excited for one of my favorite games to return, which is a shame.
Strange to include "Remake" as part of the title. I'm not sure if I have ever seen that happen before.
I can't say that I am particularly excited about this. I can buy the original PC version for peanuts.
What I would like is a port of the remake of the original Prince of Persia that was made some years ago (I don't believe that it was ever released on a Nintendo console).
Don't know too much about this, but if it's from the ground up like FFVII, probably not unless it's cloud. If it's just the same game with a fresh coat of paint, then maybe. From what little I've heard, it sounds likely this is the former.
Gamestop was taking preorders for the Switch version to release in march 2021. So I will wait until then.
The rumors will say it's coming to the Switch until just before it releases and then say it was never coming to the Switch.
Just like Mass Effect.
@Heavyarms55 yes, just to get you to pre-order and take your money.
I keep a very simple rule: It's not true unless it's officially announced. And that goes for anything.
Good memories of the Gamecube game.
I don't think I'll be losing any sleep over it, put it that way.
I've had the Switch version of Prince of Persia pre-ordered for almost two months now with GameStop...so I don't understand where all this speculation is coming from....
Who cares? If it does come, it'll be too late and the same game will be half the price elsewhere.
Late releases on switch are so annoying and it ruins the chance of ports selling as well as they could
@Casual_Gamer95 Agreed. And thats the main drawback to releasing underpowered hardware...
It's much harder to release games alongside the other guys (and often impossible, considering so many games are always missing on all Nintendo consoles).
@Grapplegeek Almost everyone has ignored that Gamestop had it up for preorder due in March after the other versions.
