Launching at the end of next week on the Nintendo Switch eShop is Grood, a shoot 'em up that'll have you taking on an army of robotic enemies and bosses.
You'll be travelling through woods, swamps, cities, frozen lands, deserts, and more to do just that, piloting your very own vehicle – called GROOD – along the way. Your enemies will be firing bullets, missiles and lasers at you non-stop, and you'll have to be prepared for various water conditions such as rain, snow and strong winds.
Here's an official description:
GROOD blends a classic shoot’em up arcade gameplay with modern graphics. The vibrant effects of explosions, smoke, fire and projectiles will fully immerse you in a hellish battle. If you prefer to keep it old-school though, just switch on the "90's love" option to get pixelated retro visuals.
You won’t only need skill to succeed but also some tactical thinking. Be smart with both your aim and positioning to get rid of the most dangerous opponents first and to avoid being surrounded.
Compete with your friends and other warriors around the world for the best ranking in global leaderboards!Features:
- Frenetic flying and shooting action
- Classic arcade gameplay with modern graphics...
- ...or retro visuals with a special "90's love" option
- Global ranking leaderboards
- 3 difficulty modes: HARD, HARD and HARD
- Dynamic weather for more diversity and replayability
- Day/night cycle. No rest, fight from dawn to dusk and through the night
- Multiple final bosses and weapons
- Hardcore Metal Soundtrack
The game's launching on 23rd October and will be available to download for just $4.99. It's being published by Drageus Games and is a single-player title.

It looks okay, just not interested in buying it, even at that price.
Will probably have this on my monitoring list pending reviews.
Looks like Einhander X Cell Damage. I’ll check it out!
@Nermannn don’t insult Einhander like that. I’m joking... kinda
Yes please! Not a reboot, wide screen, soundtrack and graphics +++ and price is right.
Agreed don't insult Einhander.
Looks like something I would enjoy immensely 👍👍
ooh seeing a trailer properly showing gameplay after so long feels so goood. feel like there's been a trend of showing an attack animation over and over again without showing the context of how it's used, makes it look like a cutscene.
@Realness @Axelay71 Forgive me! I totally expect it to fall on the mediocre side of the scale, though the position of the gun kinda looked like one of the Einhander ones. C’mon Square, give us a port of Einhander on the switch! Moon got a release, so there’s some hope that obscure PS1 games could come...
@Nermannn
Hey only joking mate, totally agree Einhander should come to switch. Luckily I have the original jap ps1 version. But it would be great for portable use. No offence taken:)
Honestly I am pretty burned out on shoot-em-ups these days. It takes something truly special to grab my attention.
@JayJ I'm awaiting R-Type Final 2. That might grab your attention.
I predict this game will be better than good but not quite great. Grood.
I love the idea of shmups, but I am just not that good at them. I have probably bought 5 or 6 in the three + years of owning the switch. They are fun, but since I am not that good, I end up never getting past a certain level.
Oh well, there are more games to play . . .
Er... perhaps I lack perceptiveness after a long weekend of turkey consumption, but... did the trailer even feature any "'90s love"? Somehow, the visuals displayed here do not inspire confidence...
