Seeking an alternative to Tetris Attack / Panel de Pon, then how about Flipon? It's bringing more match-3 puzzle action to the Nintendo Switch eShop on 8th October.
The game features "fast-paced arcade puzzle" gameplay, mixed with "gravity and silliness" to create a fun experience. You'll take control of Kat and her space miners crew in a dangerous solar system filled with shiny "Flipoblocks" and bad guys.
Here's what French developer Damien Mayance had to say about the game:
"With Flipon, I really wanted to make a game that my whole family could enjoy, and still offer a good challenge to regular Panel de Pon/Puzzle League/Tetris Attack players. I've worked on Steredenn: Binary Stars, Night Call or Lethis: Daring Discoverers, and I do my best to offer a polished and fun experience to players."
The game features more than 75 levels - with five game modes including objectives, survival, boss fights, puzzles and challenges. There's also a versus mode that supports local multiplayer for up to 4 players on a single screen.
When Flipon arrives next week, it'll be priced at $5.99 / €5.99. Will you be giving it a go? Drop a comment down below.

The Puyo Puyo Tetris influence is strong in this one...
At that price point I'll definitely give it a look. Love match 3 games. Wish there was more Puzzle Quest style RPG mash ups out there that weren't full of mtx. Regular old puzzle games like this will have to do me.
Why did they choose to have 4 square competitive instead of side by side like Puyo Puyo and Tetris?
Love puzzle games and the price isn’t high!
Puzzle League influence here i think (as stated)
Hello, dev here!
It’s definitely inspired by panel de pon/Tetris attack/puzzle league (many version of the same gameplay!) more than puyo.
But I hope I managed to have my own style and ideas.
Also, I tried to have juice and fun just like we did in Steredenn: binary stars.
Thanks for the news and cheers!
@MetalGear_Yoshi Puzzle Quest had some sequels that really didn't appeal to many (including me) unfortunately.
@LEGEND_MARIOID
Yeah, I really enjoyed the second one personally but they jumped the shark after that.
If you enjoy that style of game I'd recommend giving Ironcast a look. Fun match 3 RPG in a steam punk setting. It's not as bland story wise as Puzzle Quest which is nice.
@MetalGear_Yoshi Oh yes that was a really good match 3 rpg style game. I have played that one. I would like to see more as well now that we are discussing it.
@valryon Question: Is this only going to be local multiplayer, or will it have an online VS component as well? I'd love to be able to face off against my fellow Tetris Attack/Puzzle League addicts online for just $6.
@PeterAndCompany It is local multiplayer (shared screen) for now.
As a solo dev, it was not possible for me to have online multiplayer at launch.
But it's not excluded for an update, the game is structured in a way where it is possible without too much trouble (but still a lot of work).
And I expect to have balancing and features request for multiplayer so that will be my first priority.
Oooh yes please!
@valryon looks good. I look forward to picking it up.
Do the Euro and Dollar have the same value now or is one nation getting a better deal?
Big yes. Looks like a proper spin off of Panel De Pon/Tetris Attack. I'm in.
@valryon How does Flipon set itself apart from Panel de Pon/Puzzle League? Looking at the trailer I can spot zero gameplay difference between them.
@H_Hog It's actually quite different but yes the trailer doesn't really convey that.
You have a lot more freedom for the block movements, several new original game modes, the game is less about chains and more about combos, the little story and puzzles.
It's not just a simple clone.
