This year's Minecon replacement - Minecraft Live - is taking place this year on 3rd October and promises to feature plenty of updates and scoops about the insanely popular sandbox game.

That's not all, though. In addition to this, the team will reveal the next big Minecraft game update. Here's exactly what Mojang's chief storyteller Lydia Winters had to say:

"Normally you'd have to wait until the end of the show to find out the next big Minecraft game update, but this year we're doing things differently and kicking things off with the announcement of the...I'm not going to tell you right now. But I'll just say, you don't want to miss the beginning of the show."

As noted, this is related to the "next big Minecraft game update", so in other words - try not to get your hopes up for a Steve for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate announcement, even if Microsoft really digs Nintendo's all-star brawler.
