Update (Tue 25th Aug, 2020 09:45 BST): Draw Distance has now confirmed the release date for Vampire: The Masquerade - Shadows of New York. It'll launch simultaneously on Switch and other major platforms on 10th September.
Alongside the standard edition of the game, PC players will also be treated to a deluxe version containing an artbook and soundtrack. Sadly, this won't be available on Switch.
Original Article (Wed 29th Jul, 2020 12:15 BST): Polish studio Draw Distance has released a brand new trailer for Vampire: The Masquerade - Shadows of New York, an upcoming visual novel destined for Switch.
Not to be confused with Vampire: The Masquerade - Coteries of New York, Shadows of New York is described as a stand-alone expansion and a companion piece to the previous title. While Coteries was aiming to serve as a general introduction to the world depicted in tabletop RPG Vampire: The Masquerade's fifth edition, Shadows has been designed to present "a more personal and unique tale".
The new trailer (up above) shows off some never-before-seen art and gameplay, and also gives us just a tease of the new game's musical direction. Here's an official description to tell you a little more:
In Shadows of New York, players take on the role of Julia, a vampire of the mysterious and powerful clan Lasombra. Our protagonist is currently stuck in a rut, occupying a theoretically prestigious, but practically unimportant position in the city’s most influential faction - the Camarilla. This will all change when the news of the final death of the Anarch Baron of NYC reaches the Court’s attention - an unlikely nomination will seem a chance for Julia to finally make a name for herself, but she will be judged every step of the way.
The player’s choices will lead to one of two endings to Julia’s story, as well as influence her approach in key scenes on her way to the plot’s conclusion. Shadows of New York will also include more amazing key scene illustrations than Coteries of New York, which help flesh out the events of the game with unique animated art. In addition to those improvements, we are also happy to announce our cooperation with the talented composer Resina, who is responsible for the entirety of Shadows of New York’s soundtrack. Her moody style, which mixes haunting vocals with classical instruments such as the cello and warped electronic sounds, make for a perfect fit for the World of Darkness and a great companion to the events unfolding in the story.
Shadows of New York is set to launch on Switch in Q3 2020. We'll make sure to keep an eye out for more news on this one as we get closer to release.

Finaly can't wait for it. Its a good time for VtM and whole World of Darkness so many games .
I've always enjoyed the lore of this universe. I'm just waiting to build up enough gold coins to get both this and Coteries of New York for "free".
VtM is something I've always wanted to play, and both these titles sound intriguing, but I can never find the time for them. I'm already hip-deep in RPGs on the Switch.
I used to play this with my friends about 15 years ago when it was only a tabletop RPG. Great game with deep mechanics and a lot of room for role playing/story building, assuming you had a good story teller, of course. And the world building in the players manual was just good writing.
That being said, I’ve had my fill of this game, but it’s a surprise to see that it is still a thing!
I'm usually positive about most games until they're released, but... from those screenshots, the writing looks tiresome. I rolled my eyes at most of that dialogue. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood, but that dialogue appears painfully trite and typical.
Was that Gary Busey at about .24 in?
Masquerade! Every face a different shade. Masquerade- hide your face so the world will never find you.
@Ooyah Yes, it looks like rubbish.
They should put 'games' like this on Kindle.
Easy pass, Coteries of New York was a snooze fest.
Just need a release date for Bloodlines 2
Looks lovely visually but I’m a bit annoyed it’s more a visual novel rather than fully interactive game... Hm.
Jaysus, a visual novel. I think I'll go back to playing the tabletop RPG instead (5th edition is surprisingly good).
@JasmineDragon I would strongly recommed Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. Only available on PC but cheap as chips on Steam. Its a third person / first person RPG and its truly something special. Bloodlines 2 is said to release some time this year but I hold reservations about it's quality as it is being made by a totally different team.
@Jawessome It occurs to me that I never responded to you. Thanks for the recommendation, I may try it out. I play very little on Steam. My PC isn't the best, and I mostly stick to the Switch for portability. But it's still good to know what to look for if I ever get back to some PC gaming.
I'll also be keeping the sequel on my radar.
Hmmm, another visual novel....
