In April, there were reports that the upcoming adventure-tactical RPG Digimon Survive had gone from a 2020 release window to 'TBA'. At the time, it was believed to be tied to a development overhaul.
Fortunately, for Digimon fans, it turned out to be a typo on Famitsu's behalf - with the Japanese site listing the game as 'TBA' instead of '2020' by mistake. This was confirmed by a Bandai Namco representative in the United States.
Now, we've got a small update. The Toei Animation Europe webpage for the game has removed the "January 2021" release window a week after its discovery. All that's left is the name of the title. Here's a before and after (thanks, DualShockers):
In addition to this, a Toei Animation schedule shared by a Chinese game site at the end of July listed Digimon Survive for this year. If this is the case, it's a surprise Bandai Namco didn't lock in a date during its Play Anime Live event in the same month. We should also add that the official website for the game currently has the game's release date down as 2020.
Do you think we'll actually see Digimon Survive before the end of this year? Are you a fan of Digimon? Comment below.

We probably won't but here's hoping we will. I'm really looking forward to this game.
Don't get your hopes up, you'll set yourself up for disappointment. Haven't you learned from Direct Rumors?
I'll be surprised if it's this year. I don't really care when it releases though. Care more about whether it ends up being good or not when it does eventually release.
How can you people be optimistic during a time like this?
My bet's on Q4 2022... if we're lucky.
It's 2020. We can't have nice things this year.
Part of me wants this to come out this year. It's in the top 3 of my most wanted 2020 games... But with the absolute juggernaut of a year this is going to be as a dual nintendo/sony gamer, part of me's hoping it's 2021 for the sake of my wallet.
yeah more digimon is always good
I think at this point the chance of the game being cancelled is higher than the game actually releasing in 2020 or 2021....
As long as it's 1. Coming at all and 2. Spends enough time in the oven to take care of all the polishing, I'm fine with waiting.
I really love this franchise, so I just hope that it ends up releasing and that it's a hit. I still have to finish the Cyber Sleuth games, so fortunately I have enough Digimon stuff to hold on until it's released.
or 2022 , but lets hope not
Eh, I'd rather it launch when it's ready. Early 2021 is a good time for it.
Every time I see "survive" added at the end of a title, it seems like a bad joke. Thanks Konami.
The reason that this was greenlit is that Bandai got convinced to go after the now-adult fans that grew up with one or more of the first five TV series after their two attempts (each after a significant period with little to no new Digimon material at all) at increasingly severe revamps aiming for the pocket money of new generations of children had failed miserably at grabbing a new audience while turning off most of their existing one, ultimately leading to this pleasant surprise of a full-blown survival horror visual novel with point-and-click puzzles and tactical combat hybrid of all things.
Anyone thinking that the rumored "development overhaul" would be them replacing the cast with the one from Digimon Adventure was being nonsensical, but I do worry that with their reboot of the original series clearly being aimed both at the nostalgia of thirty-somethings (to secure ratings/sales) as well as elementary school students of today (to finally get a major influx of new blood in their audience again) that they'll wuss out on its inherent mature nature and make it kid-friendly - exacerbated by the (extremely dumbed-down) new card game reportedly doing pretty well. Personally, I can do very well sans death and gore, but you can't just cut off a horror game at its knees like that (pun fully intended), especially when you were hoping for it to be the third leg of the franchise in the video game market (and like the sixth or so for all of Digimon).
