Back in the month of June, The Pokémon Company revealed its brand new game, Pokémon Unite. It's a free-to-start mobile and Nintendo Switch MOBA made in conjunction with Tencent Games' TiMi Studios but hasn't been given a release date just yet.
Since the reveal, we haven't really seen or heard anything else about the game, but now some new screenshots of it - from a new video - have supposedly surfaced on Chinese social media. Here's the full round-up, showing off many of the Pokémon you'll be able to take control of in the game.
According to the source, the new video says an internal test will apparently begin this month and the game is due to release in Spring 2021. Keep in mind, there'll also be crossplay support between the Switch and mobile versions of the game.
To find out more about this upcoming release, see our original announcement post and view the original trailer above. What do you think of these latest screens? Are you at all interested in playing a Pokémon-themed MOBA? Leave a comment down below.

Can't stand Tencent so probably won't get it, even though I do love Pokémon.
It's a shame though because the game doesn't look terrible, I'd probably be more willing to try it if it was made by someone else. I've just been pretty sour towards Tencent lately. I don't think I even thought much about them being behind it when it was first announced.
The collecting aspect is the only appeal that this franchise have for me, so this game may be amazing but it's not for my taste.
It’s a watered down moba, i play league professional (coach) and I see nothing appealing about this one aside from the brand (Pokémon characters) and there being no chat.
It’s going to have a small cult following, but that’s it, queue timers will eventually kill it as interest is lost. There’s just not enough variety to the game (no CSing, no pinging or play making, no objective monsters to fight like Nash or dragon, only backdooring teamfighting and split pushing.). Game doesn’t strike me as something that will be rountinely patched and updated with new characters and reworks to keep it fresh either.
Tencent and TPC aside, just doesn’t look like a good moba compared to league, aether, Dota, HOTS, or even leagues mobile port wild rift which is also coming to the switch supposedly.
Insert all the lamentation comments here.
The game looks fine and all. I just can't get around the fact they wasted a presentation on it.
Lol, More excited for New Pokemon Snap
@Araquanid I’ve played AoV in the past a bit and figured this would be like that. I’m no as familiar with the moba terminology but your saying this version won’t have a slayer and dragon type creature to slay? I’ve tried watching the video again But couldn’t tell. Also didn’t notice much of a jungle if any. Disappointed if this is the case and will have to pass. Don’t want a watered down experience.
Yeah yeah, it’ll probably be a massive game and actually quite good... we know....
But I’m still disappointed somehow....
Nah thank you I’m good.
I still don’t wanna play the game.
With this game I will probably download it, play it for a week, than forget it exists
Looks fun, wi get it.
@Anti-Matter off topic, but where can I chat with you off site?
Unsurprising new stuff is being posted, its ChinaJoy over there right now, Diablo Immortal got a new trailer, for example.
@noswitchbutidc
Check my Instagram.
Btw, what things you want to talk about with me ?
Eh maybe I’ll get it
Tencent is involved so no thanks.
Yup, Menu UI looks like a Chinese Developed Pokemon Game. Btw i mean the menus look like they take heavy inspiration from other chinese developed mobile games.
@Rika_Yoshitake
I also cannot wait to play this game on my Huawei phone, supporting the peoples republic of china under xi xing ping!
@Anti-Matter games, mostly.
@Rika_Yoshitake Tencent is a garbage company. I would not even hate on this game if they had nothing to do with this, but Tencent has done so many awful things, I would never buy anything from them. It could be the best game in the world and I still wouldn't pay a dime on it if they had something to do with it

Can't wait to play a game developed by a company that has ended so many lives by blocking any having to do with the coronavirus on their popular messaging app!
nah, i'll still pass. MOBA's never interested me anyway
I will give the game a try, but now we know that game freak hired a bad company why well that because they are a bad company.
As soon as I read "tencent games" this game lost me! Moba doesn't help but tencent = deal breaker.
Looks great and super excited for this one!
Art style is very nice and a good MOBA should be relatively easy to pull off.
Pretty much a guaranteed hit, if you ask me.
All the whiners about Tencent can bugger off and it’ll still be a hit nonetheless. Not enough people care enough to turn away a likely decent quality game, which is free.
And don’t get me started on pay to win garbage... just be better at the game and take advantage of free stuff (as per Warface, Ninjala, etc).
@TimboSlice "All the whiners about Tencent can bugger off..."
We aren't whining for the sake of whining. This is a company that has put many lives at risk, and copied countless games. They literally blocked mentions of the coronavirus on their messaging apps, ending many innocent lives.
I will not play a game from a company that has something to do with the massive spread of the coronavirus. If they and the Chinese Government would have just been honest and told everyone about how impactful this virus really was.
Copying from Developers and YOUR OWN developers (I think Riot Games) is one thing, but trying to silence talk about a deadly virus is inexcusable.
@graysoncharles fair, but I would say go had the advantage of being super unique (catching Pokémon on free mobile app everywhere you go). With mobas there’s competition (due to the nature of sinking money in cosmetics, and sinking time into learning macro/champs) so it’s unlikely anyone veteran to mobas would move to this game for more than a couple matches, and if it does introduce younger generations to the moba genre they’re likely to try other mobas and stick to those. There’s also the fact switches aren’t as common as phones and PCs so it implies those that do own a switch spend their time on this over smash/swsh etc, so it’s gotta be really good.
Personally I plan on playing it when it comes out for a short period but I probably won’t stick to it, too much invested in league (not to mention I now make money thanks to that experience due to coaching)
Nobody wants chinese crap.
No to CCP Spyware app..
China is a terrible nation controlled by CCP anyone supporting CCP controlled companies is supporting human rights abuse and censorship...
I expect this game to be a microtransaction-infested hell given that Tencent is working on it. All the same, I'm definitely going to pick it up and give it a try on my Switch since it's free-to-start. On paper, a Pokemon MOBA is a great idea, just a shame it isn't being handled in better hands for such an endeavor. All the same, I bet it will be a pretty fun game regardless.

>Pokémon "game"
>Made by Tencent, an arm of the CCP
...Hard, HARD pass from me. Nobody should be forking over not only their money, but their personal info and such over to an arm of the CCP, where all their "ideas" (I use the word "ideas" VERY loosely here!) are basically stolen from other countries such as from the West's IPs; Those foolish idiots can't make ANYTHING original, it's all stolen by what amounts to a government of lazy, entitled, self-centered thieves. Stuff like this needs a HEAVY ban from appearing in the Western world.
Funny thing is, no one's jokingly complaining that this game is not on PC.
Ah, they removed the most up voted comment... i see what NLIFE is all about now
