If you haven’t picked up Wolfenstein I’d highly recommend it at that price. I’ve played skyrim thoroughly but this could be double dipped too.
It’s been 2-3 years since most of these games were released on Switch, can we get more than 50% off on them already? I swear i’ve seen the deluxe edition of Wolf2 on PS4 for like 10€ if not less....
Give me a collectors edition with the first 3/4 and yes I would get it. Otherwise, digital only? No thank you
I shall grab Doom 64.
Looks like I am getting doom 64.
I might jump on Doom 64 at this price. Got all the other Doom games (and Eternal on PC).
I'll admit it - I already have all of these games. Nice sale, though.
tempted for skrim
I have all those games bar Doom II & Wolfenstein. Some are on my backlog.
All I have are good gaming, by the way (as you probably all know).
I picked them up on a previous sale too I think, but maybe not this "deep".
During the last sales I picked up and played Doom 1993 and Doom II and I really enjoyed them. Now, should I pick Doom 3 or 64? Or both? What do you guys think
@mjharper likewise, and thuroughly enjoyed the games. Meanwhile Xbox have even better offers on their Bethesda games, may give Eternal and Prey a go. Was really waiting on Eternal for Switch but it has taken too long. Built considering the Switch my arse.
I find it ironic that it’s a Quakecon sale but there aren’t any Quake games in Switch. I think Quake Champions didn’t take off as much as they hoped and the IP is dormant again. Unless they announce something Quake related.
I'm still waiting for that Spongebob sale to come to the US. Never came.
I can't believe Skyrim is still at that price...
@SmaggTheSmug with the success of the classic doom games, you'd think they'd bring Quake 1+2 on Switch too
@AJDarkstar it's been awhile since I've played them, but weren't 3-4 online only? Seems like they'd have to charge us a whole load more for remasters of online only games.
@SmartNickname Doom 64 is a masterpiece, especislly running smoothly on Switch. Doom 3 is an acquired taste. Neither as bad as its detractors claim nor as good as its defenders want you to believe. Its fine, but much much slower than the other Dooms. I'd go 64 any day of the week.
Same deals are on the U.S. eShop too. Definitely usually my gold points to get Doom 64 for free. Good stuff. 👍
If this was a couple of years ago, I would have sprung for Skyrim at that price.
But it's been too long and I'd rather spend currently £9.89 on Xbox for it.
If you have other platform options for DOOM 2016 and The New Colossus, I'd say go for those because the washed out resolution was honestly super noticeable and made certain things hard to see at higher difficulties when they increase stuff like the amount of demons/Nazis on screen at once.
For those of you who only own a Switch these are still fantastic games and some of the finest examples of FPS gameplay I've played this gen.
Yes! Been waiting for them to do this again. Somehow missed it the first time! I'll be getting Doom 2, 3 and 64.
@Homerbert thank you
Doom 64 for £1.99 is a steal.
Just once I'd like to see their European prices in € 😂😂😂😂
Time to get DOOM 64! Just need to pick up Eternal, when it finally hits Switch, and I will be well and truly NintenDOOMED!
The Eternal wait continues.
Now here's a quandry: I pre ordered Eternal from Amazon, so shouldn't I already have Doom 64?
@Itachi2099 its sales like this which highlight how ridiculously priced some Switch games are, Doom (2016) is currently on sale for less than £5, or less than £25 including Wolfenstein 2 on PS4. Whilst Skyrim on Xbox is on sale for £22.39 and that includes Fallout 4 GOTY edition too
I've been opting for PC for the DOOM games. There's really no replacement for proper mouse aiming for me in a FPS.
Although I'd play DOOM games on Switch before PS4.
Doom 64 is legend. I think it was like $5 when I picked it up but yeah at $2 it’s a legit non brainer.
I'll wait until Christmas to get Doom and the modern Wolfenstein games. $30 each is still a lot compared to how cheap they are on other consoles and on PC. This sale should honestly be $10-$15 a piece. Doom at $60 normal price is ridiculous. Shows how overpriced the Nintendo Eshop is.
DOOM 64 for £1.99, nobody should pass this up... An absolute bargain..
Got my Doom 64, which was already cheap on release, but I knew would be cheaper on a sale some day, and the day has come.
@BANJO Just came to say the same thing. I've played through all the Doom games on Switch, love them all but I think Doom 64 might be my favourite. Amazing game from start to finish.
@OorWullie It really is.. Gameplay is superb, but for me it's the eerie music that sets it apart, as you say an amazing game from start to finish...
Bethesda's also having a sale on the Stadia store. I picked up Doom Eternal for $30 (who knows when it'll come to Switch, plus Stadia looks better than the Switch version will) and Rage 2 Deluxe Edition for $16.
@BreathingMiit I imagine the pre-order bonuses on Switch will work just as they did on other platforms, so it's a safe assumption you will get DOOM 64 for free, even if it's available as a seperate download on the eShop too.
Never gonna touch Skyrim, simply because I know there are giant spiders in there...
@0L1V14 Don't you have anything else you want to do? In your position I'd get a Xenoblade game instead if you haven't done all of those.
I love the Doom remake! And while I do agree that Wolfenstein is blurry as hell I really don't think it's that noticeable on Doom.
I like to say I'm proof that there are women, playing Doom, for the story, on Switch! 😅
So played a bit of DOOM 64 last night... genuinely impressed with how good it is! The atmosphere is great, runs super smooth, reminded me a bit of Quake, which I absolutely loved on Sega Saturn back in the day! Really hope Eternal is good on Switch...
I already own .pay of these.
@SmartNickname Doom 3 and 64 are very different beasts. 64 is closer to classic Doom in gameplay style but the feel of the controls is closer to modern Doom. It's silky smooth to play, looks and sounds amazing and the level design is arguably the best in the series, with some real stand out stages. I can't recommend it enough, especially at that price.
Doom 3 is closer to modern Doom in style but it's a very unique experience. It's more of a horror experience than normal and can be really tense at times. It's a dark game though and is definitely best played on the big screen. It takes a while to get going but once it does, I loved. It's still an impressive looking game too.
I recommend them both but go for 64 first.
@Itachi2099 agree, even Skyrim shouldn’t even be that pricey to begin with
Bought Doom & Doom 2 on sale a while back but honestly didn’t go down to well with them. Maybe they’ve aged a bit more than I expected or I’m just not good enough to use dual analogue in a game with Hit Scan weapons. How does Doom 64 compare in that regard?
@Itachi2099 even less, i've seen it for 7
Every Doom game, except 64 has been cheaper in previous sales.
if I get one (between doom 1,2,64) which one should I get?
I'm going to pass on all of these. I have and played through Wolfenstein. It was slightly above average in my opinion. I have Skyrim on the 360 and I would probably try the Witcher before double dipping into Skyrim again even though it's an awesome game.
I've never really got into the Doom games, especially the classics.
Was thinking of getting Skyrim and Wolfenstein but there are currently $5 on the Xbox One. Nintendo Tax strikes again .
We should instead name this "sale" as the event when some Switch games are actually sold at the regular price (the regular price they're sold everywhere else).
I'm talking mainly about Doom and Skyrim.
The "oldies" are priced ok.
Im one of the only people on the planet who is still yet to play Skyrim. Can someone explain the appeal to me? Ive considered it so many times but never have enough interest to take the plunge.
I play ALOT of Doom"2016" online...sometimes there is a loooonnnggg wait, so I hope this sale helps the amount of people playing.
It's an absolute gem
Did they ever put gyro controls in Doom 3?
Sale ends tomorrow.
I just got Doom 2016 and Doom 3 during on PC during on steam summer sale, but now, I’m getting Doom 64 on switch
I just payid 7 quid for doom 2016 on ps4. My preference would have been for gyro aiming but these deals aren't really deals. Feels like indie game prices between the two platforms get much closer than AAA games. Asking for 50 quid for doom in 2020 is madness.
@SmaggTheSmug Bethesda doesn't know what to do with Quake, and IMO so much of what made Quake great was the individuals involved in making it, most of whom are gone now. Doom is iconic but generic (and the original makers botched hit horrendously turning Doom 3 into an action horror.) Doom is just space marine in an enclosed industrial setting with swarms of demons ravaging. Easy to get right (despite Carmack getting it wrong with 3.)
Quake doesn't have an easily nameable quality. It's a mishmash of ideas that distilled beautifully. Then Quake II was entirely different with a space marine invasion of a fairly unique industrial alien setting with a Borg type theme. Kind of lost what made 1 great, but there was a lot great about it on its own. Starting with 3 they just made it a generic online arena brand with no real special sauce to speak of. They gave Raven a shot at 4 before Raven was "the CoD studio" and they made a cool game that acted as kind of a remake of 2.....but it wasn't really "Quake" - it was just a decent standalone shooter.
Not sure the brand can ever really be revived as anything but a competitive arena unless they get some talent that understand just what made it tick. Trouble is I'm not sure even the people that made it tick really knew what made it tick.
I know some people are against discounting games too deep and devaluing them...but these prices on games this old that can be had so much cheaper on every other platform is a reminder of the "Switch tax" era that seemed to have passed.
I already own Skyrim physical, (and also own it on 360, own the remaster on X1X, and own it on PSVR which I'm trying to make me "lead" to play it but never seem to do so...., and I'd still quadruple dip on Switch for a digital copy....but at only half price, years in, it's not so tempting.
@BigRed40
Is a rpg style game with a lot of liberty, quest and staff to do i played 4 time in total, two of the three dlc are worthy playing ifnyou never played I suggest to try it, of course do not expect the same quality narrative as the witcher 3 but the lore is good
@psychoBrew
Nope
@NEStalgia yep
I think the 'tax' is because of the physical versions, cartridges are still kinda expensive and they bump the digital price so that people still want to opt to buy physical
I think digital-only games mostly match pricing from other platforms... and if later there's a physical Limited Run version it'll always be way more expensive
Also looks like the demand curve is different for Switch owners as even with its relatively high price, Skyrim is currently #6 on the US eshop
I would love to pick up Skyrim on Switch but I just can’t justify it at $30 for a game that is nearly ten years old.
Heck, a similar sale is happening right now on Xbox One and you can get the Skyrim: Special Edition for $13.19.
If Nintendo would price match, then I’d buy.
Sure wish they'd bring Quake II to the Switch!
I picked up Doom 64. Already had Doom 1 & 2 when they were 70% off about 6 months ago. Never got into them in the 1990s. Love them now. Beat Doom 1 already and halfway through Doom 2. Switched to Doom 64 now. It's so pretty!
@Itachi2099 Many of them, notably Dooms 1, 2 and 3, were 70% off about 6 months ago.
WOW!!! What great discounts are these???
DOOM on 25 English pounds only???
PSN sell it 6 €!!!
It seems nintendo's discounts are ridiculous.
