Back in 2018, the then 70-year-old Chen San Yuan rose to fame among the Pokémon GO community after he was spotted with a seriously impressive bike rig which allowed him to use 11 phones at once, helping him to catch and evolve rare Pokémon. Two years later, it would appear that it's not just his Pokémon that are evolving, but also the man himself.
His setup has been tweaked several times over the past couple of years - including a version of the original rig that could be strapped to his body to walk and play, rather than cycle - but surely he's now reached his final form? New snaps show the 'Pokémon Grandpa' with this absolute behemoth of a setup which supports no less than 64 phones.
How on Earth do you keep track of 64 different Pokémon GO accounts at the same time?
If we had to guess, we'd say his view of the road ahead might be slightly obscured there, but all health and safety concerns aside, what incredible dedication.

He still has 8 spaces for more phones, but wow what a nutter, fair play to him
Dope windshield. I gotta try that out. Much more exciting than my regular see-through one.
Yeah but he still never answers his phone
😂 That man is a god.
I would rather have multiple of Nintendo Switch than multiple of smartphones LOL 😂
Wow he must be loaded to buy that many phones and he's me struggling to pay for one good one
What a tool.
Must be an attention seeker.
How does he reach the phones at the top?
In the first picture at the top the first thing that came to my mind was Zygarde 50% forme's frill, specifically the 5 protrusions at the top....he just needs another 64 phones to get to his final form then.
And people think two pc screens are impressive!
I wish there could be more games for Switch and phones, especially full adventures that tool advantage out of this so more gamers could have a reason to bike or walk:3
Obviously this is just a prank as how would he even reach the top phones? And would he see where he is going? It would be hard to balance the bike! A phone bill for phone data on all those phones using different sims would be ridiculously high!
Its safe to say this is just for comedic effect and not practical.
@Samsamsam I agree, if pokemon go aloud you to transfer pokemon that weren't in sword and shield to sword and shield then I'm sure more people would play.
Or maybe a Mario game where you can earn stars or coins in a mobile app for walking certain distances which then can be transfered to the switch game
"Hold on a minute, my wife's going to call..."
windows shatter, people's ears bleed
Disclaimer: this story is a work of fiction as it's unlikely he has a wife =0p
@sikthvash When the man forgot to do the laundry, Earth will be reduced to atoms.
He must have waited all his life for a game like Pokémon GO to come out. Maybe there‘s an ancient Japanese prophecy that he is trying to fulfill.
He should never do this with his bicycle on the street. 🤭
Poor old git probably just wanted to go viral again. Or if this is legit, then it's actually really sad.
@korosanbo,
Health and safety issue right there, so I am going with a prank on this one, as there is no way he could ride his bike like that.
That’s a lot of health and happiness right there (barring any crash of course - and good luck to him)
I feel like this is exactly what retirement is for....having fun and chasing a hobby down any path it leads you. Right on man! Have fun.
@playstation_king What phone bill? Portable wifi router and he's good to go.
So many questions
@CoOokie I doubt the majority of pocket WiFi devices would support this many concurrent connections, most only support around 10 devices. I’m sure when I saw this story a couple years back he was using multiple SIM cards.
Me: i'm the best pokemon go player ever!! Chen:hold my pokeball.
'It's Super kind-of-not-very Effective, really?"
I hope it's a prank
I also hope he is still having fun with Pokemon Go
He must be rich. His dataconsumtion must be gigantic. And all those phones and charging them. Phew. I’m getting tired thinking of it all.
He's starting to look more and more like a JRPG final boss with each upgrade to his grid.
Yeah. That's just silly now. Seems more a sad quest for celebrity now more than anything else. You aren't going to keep 64 games of Poke Go going at once. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets pulled up by law enforcement given his view is now completely obscured.
@Tuulenpoika Yeah it's like something that folds out of the boss after you've defeated his first form.
Let the old guy have some fun.
However, I am amazed he hasn't been mugged or fallen over or hit by a car yet.
No way he can actually be using that on the go. Hed be killed or in trouble with the first policeman he meets.
That bike is worth more than my first car.
If he hasn't already caught 'em all, noone has. ^^
Dang, and I thought trying to play with three accounts at once was a handful. I've seen people try that LOL.
As cool as the setup is, how is this even safe? 🤔
Ok... dedication and all. But. Yeah.
This is obviously clickbait, I thought this was an article for the upcoming 64-screen iPhone with bike attachment.
What happens if it rains?
Silly question, but how does he see the road in front of him?
i am grinning ear to ear. I've been fortunate enough to go to Japan, and can definitely say, if i saw this while i was there, it would have been amazing, but only "one more thing" among all the wild amazing stuff you see every day.
**Note, just realized this is in Taiwan, but my original comment's underlying truth still stands.
That's a little obsessive.
He needs to be taken off the streets, right now.
@Nintendofan83 well, this path might just lead him into oncoming traffic
he should get a tandem bicycle and a teammate
@TG16_IS_BAE
After seeing your replies in the "Nontendo Direct" comments, this made me grin.
@Elynor Yay
Thank you.
@WreckitRyan He gets wet?
Pokemon Grandpa 64
People are asking how he can see in front of him. Maybe one of the phones could be in camera mode - though limited, this would give him some idea of what's ahead. He probably isn't biking very fast either. Definitely more of a novelty either way, but it's still awesome to see it.
I wonder if they're other people's phones, and he's catching Pokemon for them while they're stuck at work? 🤔 Maybe they pay him a bit of cash for it 👍
Only in Japan Could you do this without getting mugged
