Earlier this week, Nintendo released Jump Rope Challenge for free on the Switch eShop. It's a cute, simple game that was actually created by a few Nintendo devs while working from home, designed to keep them moving while in lockdown.
It might be a pretty basic experience, but it seems like Switch owners are really getting into it. Nintendo has revealed today that more than 200 million jumps have been recorded by players in the game's first three days.
If you haven't tried it yet, the game has you - or you and a friend - taking hold of a Joy-Con and jumping over an imaginary rope with a bunny on screen. It incentivises you come back each day to record more jumps, hopefully helping you to stay active while at home.
As we mentioned above, it's free to download and will only be available on the eShop until September, so make sure to grab it from the store while you can.
Have you given Jump Rope Challenge a go yet? How have you been finding it? Let us know with a comment.

That's a lot of jumps!
I have added about 400 jumps to this so far 😂 super simple and easy for anyone
Did 1000 the first day....and immediately stopped. Maybe they could add some other features because it's popular?
Guess it depends if people still play it in a few weeks. A free game combined with lockdowns and people pretending to attempt exercise would make 200 million jumps an easy goal
It's a great piece of software, particularly for free!
A free download from Nintendo was downloaded a bunch?
Next you'll tell me fish can't live out of water!
This thing was just what I needed.
Thank you Nintendo.
I did about half of those.
I live in a second floor apartment, soooo...
Been doing a few hundred every day so far. ^^
This is simple brilliance. Well done Ninty.
Encouraging activity during lockdown is so commendable. Shame folk are confusing weird with thoughtful.
*And it's funny watching folk play it like they are trying to appreciate some fine art or something and be embarrassed doing it! Alex luckily is brill!
Just want to know if there's any way to purchase (i.e. add to account) those freebies, like this skipping game, without actually download them onto the Switch? (Instead of cancel it while downloading or delete it after finished)
For example, I don't play Splatoon 2 but redeemed My Nintendo "Splatoon 2 Gear set"'s code and later find the DLC (and seems the whole update & patch for the game too) was downloaded automatically.
@KayFiOS Turns out the Switch is portable, so...
I'll skip.
Me and my girlfriend have a laugh playing this side by side on each-others Switch's, for free it's a nice treat, wouldn't have paid for it though
Is Nintendo testing the loyality of its cuatomers? They say jump and you jump.
I have it downloaded, just haven't launched it yet. My job keeps me pretty active, so this will be a weekend thing for me. I'm super overweight so I look forward to busting up my ankles, the disclaimer can go take a hike.
@KayFiOS Nintendo has got you covered:
"If you’re concerned about making too much noise, simply just bending your knees or moving your arms are also available ways to jump rope and get your body moving."
@gcunit Yeah, I don't take my Switch out much, so no.
We've downloaded it. Me and my son are doing our 1000 jumps a today together. He loves it, it takes 5 minutes of our time, and it's a great way to get him doing a bit of exercise on days we're stuck on the house
It's a fun little game.
It's a waste of space. Gets old veeerry quick! People are just making noise about it and acting like they love it simply because it is from Nintendo. I am a huge Nintendo fan myself but this is a waste of time.
Please don't all of you American's play it at the same time. It would create a tidal wave that would destroy Japan.
waiting for a sale
I haven't seen one of Alex's videos in a while, and I can't help but wonder what the target age demographic has been reduced to. They used to be watchable. Now they watch like one of those over-dramatic, over-exaggerated videos meant for elementary kids. I know it's Youtube and that's the entire demo on the platform, but it's jarring to go from the last Alex video I saw that was adult (or as adult as Alex goes ) to....this....Nickelodeon type format full of cringe. Well...more cringe than I'm used to with Alex, anway.
I will probably try this game out today.
Why would the take it down from the eshop?
I think it is great that Nintendo is doing all of this “real sport” games, I wish they will continue to innovate like this
@Octane So you jumped about 46,000 times per minute ever since the game was released? Respect
Lots of downloads because it's free.
@T0mizawa : No. Just cancel/delete the download/icon after "purchase".
Sony give away the Nathan Drake Collection and Journey during the coronavirus, NIntendo gives Jump Rope Challenge. When will people realize NIntendo is the least consumer friendly of the gaming companies.
Should also point out that if you have a Switch Lite, NIntendo has given you nothing.
@NEStalgia
If Nintendo is for all ages. Alex needs to be for all ages too. The industry is not only for a few of us.
There should be a Grandpa Alex, a Mature Alex, a Youngster Alex, a Milenial Alex, and a childy Alex.
Alex for everyone.
