On 26th May, NetherRealms is releasing 'Aftermath' - a new downloadable story expansion for its brutal and bloody fighting game Mortal Kombat 11.
As previously noted, there'll also be a free update that adds a bunch of new content. This includes friendship finishing moves.
These special moves were originally introduced in Mortal Kombat II, to mock public outcry about the level of violence within the game. Check out the return of friendship moves in the trailer above.
Done? Did you spot Mileena alongside Kitana? Fans of Mortal Kombat have been requesting the character for some time now, and while Ed Boon made teased her, the official Mortal Kombat made it loud and clear she would not be playable:
Will you be returning to Mortal Kombat 11 later this month to try out the new finishing moves? Comment down below.

I'm glad with Sheeva though. Really excited about this update.
Lol Noob Saibot had the best Friendship in that trailer. So glad they finally brought these back. I remember these were introduced back then in response to parents complaining that Mortal Kombat is too violent.
I’m hoping you can download and play as Robocop even without the Aftermath addition......
I'm still wraking my brain over the revelation that the Mortal Kombat series has a story and apparently a good one. Literally no one I ever knew talked about anything related to a story for this series - so for years all I knew about it was "it's the bloody gorefest fighting game". I only learned about there being a story in that other article NL put up a few weeks ago when everyone honestly probably justly, yelled at me for mocking what I thought was a non-thing.
I have nothing against it - I just never bothered because fighting games don't hold my interest for more than a couple days and I fully admit I suck at them. My second worse genre, only beaten by stealth games.
The way they mock people that want favorite characters included like Mileena is just terrible.
@Heavyarms55
It’s just had a more story and background than most fighters that’s all really that doesn’t exactly make it good, outside of the lore and wiki obsessed fans the stories are worse than a bad comic or b movie.
I'll take Jaxx playing the Saxx everyday.
@SalvorHardin
Its actually hilarious, serves people right for spamming ed boon on Twitter. They get what they deserve lol. I'd love it if Sakurai added Waluigi as another assist trophy just to mess with the fans
I am glad they are releasing the stages/friendships as free content. But have you seen how much they are charging for the new characters/story? Crazy. Especially if, like me, you already have the game and the Kombat pack
@Magrane You’ll be able to buy him for £4.99!

It's not a mockery, this happens in Mortal Kombat before, remember Nightwolf's MK3/Ultimate MK3's Friendship was just him transforming into Raiden. Seeing Mileena in Kitana's Friendship in MK11 is no difference. If Mileena was playable in the actual game then she wouldn't be in Kitana's Friendship. Remember that Nightwolf stopped changing into Raiden in his Friendship when Mortal Kombat Trilogy happens cause Raiden was playable by then.
Lol, first beat the crap out of your opponent, smash his head, pearce his skull and almost left for dead "friendship" "why cant we be friends"
This is what the game was missing.
That was absolutely magical.
@Heavyarms55 Its not the best story in the world but it has a B-Movie charm about it and its far more then what most other fighters give you, personally NR are pretty much top when it comes to story in fighting games with both MK and Injustice setting the bar high. Honestly Smash Ultimate aside NR fighting games are some of the most packed fighting games out there with tons and tons of SP content and MP content, there's not many fighters what get 100's of hours worth of time on just SP content alone.
@SalvorHardin Considering fans act like whiny children and spam Boon constantly about it i will say a cheeky mock is perfectly fine, i want Mileena as much as anyone else and i would happily pay for her as DLC but i'm not going to moan and cry over it especially when the game already has a great roster and a great set of DLC characters.
Sorry but Mortal Kombat went down hill after 3 Ultimate
this is really hilarious XD.
Watching the new fatalities and friendships is about as much of a joy I'll get out of this. I hope that the HD Remake rumors about the first classic 3 games is/was true and that they will show up really soon!
@Bunkerneath I think the 2011 reboot was awesome because it basically felt like Mortal Kombat 2 in HD. I liked it a lot. I played X for a bit, but don't care for XI. And yes, everything after the first 3 was so so. Hope the HD Remakes how up soon.
@Heavyarms55 Oh god stealth games... I suck at them, no patience. Fighting games - I'm slightly above crap, but get bored quickly...
@Scollurio An actual pile of crap might perform better at a stealth game than I. Not 100% certain. I am certain it would have more patience than I tend to with those games.
@WallyWest Yeah, it's really shocking how insane people have gotten over that character. And with how entitled people seem to be these days, it's resulted in a lot of swearing and borderline threatening language directed toward Ed Boon specifically. These idiots are ruining it for the rest of us!
If I were Ed Boon, I'd definitely never put Mileena in the game. Or if I did, I'd make her brainwashed by Kronika and wearing an outfit that covers her skin from head-to-toe to really dig at the people who also complain about the game being "woke" (lol) and are expecting Mileena to be her usual sexualized self.
That's Tremendous.
As much as I love Kitana. I am more interested in Jump Force this year for my Nintendo Switch Lite. Besides Sakura's waitibg for me.
