Yesterday, Nintendo rolled out Version 1.2.1 of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. According to the Japanese support page, it fixed a few bugs. Since then, the English patch notes have been uploaded:
General updates -Addressed issues to further ensure an enjoyable gaming experience.
So what "issues" have been addressed, exactly? As suspected, the recently discovered duplication glitches have been patched out. This includes both the table and mailbox glitches, and a number of YouTubers have now uploaded videos demonstrating how these glitches no longer work.
The Nintendo-focused YouTube channel Blaines provided a summary:
Exploits without hacks...have actually been patched. That includes the mailbox exploit...the table exploit...and anything else...I think no clipping out of bounds as well - all this stuff is patched, so the economy - at least for honest playing people - is back to normal.
If you don't want your experience to be impacted by these changes, it's as simple as not performing the most recent update. The downside is you'll no longer be able to play locally or online with others.

Wasn't this already mentioned in a past article? Well, it was handled as "may" so I guess this was to confirm?
Have they publicly acknowledged the removal of the rarely encountered hybrid flower islands on Nook Miles mystery tours?
That's the removal of content that players have been aiming to visit. I wanted to visit that island but never got the chance.
Oh no thank you very much Ninty, how am I supposed to make money now?
I miss money glitch exploitation.
Well... There must be another way to make Bell quicker.
This is great! The AC economy can now recover
Uh oh time for a duplication investigation! I'm talking bout Dupin!
I'm sure cheaters will keep finding ways to cheat. Flex those bells, I guess.
@status-204
Turnips will be my worst choice since i tend to Time travel on ACNL 3DS. 😅
I don't really mind when people exploit a glitch in a single player game like this. I don't do it myself usually, but I don't mind other people having fun how they want to.
That said, I also have no issue with Nintendo patching bugs either. I'm all for that!
Now if only they could shorten the time wasted when visiting each other's islands...
I love honest playing people.
Poor cheaters, now they actually have to play the game.
@status-204 I can't say I've ever had that many people online together at once. I think the biggest group I've played with is 3 people total. It's quite rare that I can get my friends online at all, forget trying to get more than 2 of them online at the same time.
But this is the first time I've heard of the game crashing at all. I mean the animations and waiting suck and I think pretty much no one likes it. But the crash is news to me.
From what I can tell the game save corruption glitch has been patched as well. I spent the last 3 days time travelling and reloading my save over 50 times and not once did it conk out on me.
Normally I don’t cheat but after having my saved wipes 4 times I’m not playing for 4 weeks to get back to where I was before.
First, they decreased the spawning of expensive bugs, then your ABD savings interest rates, now this?
Redd shows up once in a blue moon and sells nothing but crap half the time. And I swear there’s something up with the stalk market. For two weeks in a row, the prices have done nothing but plummeted. Anyone else having this problem?
It’s like Nintendo doesn’t want us playing this game anymore.
Nintendo really wants to make it look like the decision to not include cloud saves was justified...
What did I say have fun til the cows come home. People always think they have the upper hand til.
Anyone with a brain saw the patch coming, good thing I already mass duped all that I needed.
It's funny seeing all these bloodthirsty "nice" players foam at the mouth whenever you play the game how you want to. Reminds me of the Undertale fans when they go nuts if you play the genocide route 🤣.
Tl;dr Let players play how they want, if they want to exploit on their island(Keyword: their.), then let them.
I just wanted to duplicate the Star Wars Holiday Special!!!!!
@Heavyarms55 It isn't purely single player though. I play with my family almost daily and a couple of real life friends weekly. In the very beginning I also enjoyed visiting people I found online and trading things. Very soon these duplication glitches and time travel exploits made it so it was entirely impossible to compete with people being able to almost effortlessly offer just about any amount of gold and Nook miles tickets the other part could dream of.
Since then I was able to make one trade, offering a bout a month's worth of play. It doesn't feel great.
So yes it does affect people who like to play the game as intended. Luckily I can still partially enjoy this aspect with my friends, but if I didn't have them I would probably have quit playing a long time ago.
@Xeacons No turnip sell price went up to 375 thursday. Just a down time for you.
@Maxz The game was built to last months not days and has multiplayer so it should not be a suprise. I guess I'm old fashion I love the grind.
@Xeacons My turnip prices have always been atrocious. The one bright spot was yesterday when they suddenly rocketed up to 225. But before then, they had never gone higher than 85. The one time I had any luck with turnips was one of my wife's coworkers texted her to let me know that her turnip prices were at 425 and to come to her island if I wanted to sell.
I love hearing the cheaters complain when they can't cheat anymore.
LOL at all the people LOLing at people for having an opinion.
Have they patched that bug yet where fish stop appearing on your island randomly when you have someone visiting? It kinda makes it pointless to invite friends to your island when it's raining for coelacanth.
The game's economy will never, ever be back to normal.
The first duping glitch threw it off quite a bit, but since it was a lot more limited (no NMTs, big items, etc.) and they patched it out relatively quickly, the damage was not that extensive.
This, though? Everything but flowers (and to an extent villagers) has lost its value. Which is why I don't bother with online trading anymore, as it's lost its charm.
Oh no, not the out of bound glitch!
That one was so much fun to perform and it was completely harmless.... i really liked that glitch... 🥺
Good on Nintendo. And good riddance. Well... At least until the inevitable next time some figures out another exploit.
Tune in next time on: What Animal Crossing Exploit will Nintendo patch next!?
They patched the "lost baloon" too. Now, if your slingshot break when you will shot a baloon, and you go do another in a workbench, you yet will be able to find the baloon. Previously, doing it, the baloon was disapearead after get out of workbench screen.
I won't lie I used the table method but what I did is for a few friends that were just starting out I made a start kit which had
1LCD tv
A DIY bed
One of each fruit
A stereo
Three fossils one fish and one bug
And any extra DIY recipes
And if I had any bells on hand bells
I completely agree with all those who say "games and solo" "We can play as we want on does no harm has anyone" while people who want to play normally it's your problem but me personally I do not want to spend 800 hours just closing a common bar on my northern hemisphere, on your request not to understand us or others but just to stop making yeah, yeah at this time everyone is having a hard time to make money and it has never been the case on any other opus. and clearly I admit long live the cheat and I look forward to the next update. There is always a flaw
