Taito has revealed that it is working on Darius Cozmic Collection 2, with a release expected this winter. No games have been confirmed at present (one would assume 1997's excellent G-Darius will make the cut), nor has it been specified which consoles it will be launching on.
The company has also revealed that the original Darius Cozmic Collection is coming to the PlayStation 4 in Japan today, with both an AE (Arcade Edition) and CE (Consumer Edition) releasing.
Furthermore, it has also been revealed that the Switch version of the Japanese 'consumer' edition (that's the Japanese eShop one, basically ā those who own the physical game will miss out sadly) will be getting the PC Engine version of Darius Plus, the SNES title Super Nova and the Mega Drive port of Darius 2 / Sagaia today.
We gave the Japanese version of Darius Cozmic Collection an impressive 8/10 in our review, stating that "if you're a fan of shmups or have even the slightest degree of affection for Darius, this remains a recommended purchase." It's due for release in the west sometime this year.

That's interesting, as Strictly Limited Games have done a physical release for both the Arcade and Consumer editions.
I guess this would mean that they will delay production to get this on the cartridge?
Just waiting for the inevitable CE from Strictly Limited.
@Magician
The collector's edition has come and gone, as least, the pre-order allocations have.
But they're still accepting orders for the standalone editions of the two titles for both PS4 and Switch.

G-Darius at long last! Not confirmed, but come on, you know its gotta be in there!
This is ridiculously old news you know. SLG announced explicitly back in November 2019 that Darius Plus, Super Nova and Darius 2 / Sagaia would also be included in the Western release collection. Check the table https://www.strictlylimitedgames.com/releases-2/darius-cozmic-collection/ Release is scheduled for April (so just a few weeks now).
The first collection is absurdly expensive if you want all the games as they sold it in tiers. It's so offensive to the consumer I wrote it off completely, despite being a big fan of the series.
......but if they finally released Darius Burst for the Swiitch I might be in trouble.
G-Darius and Chronicles seem likely, again Iām rooting for the PC Engine Super CD version of Darius 2.
@RupeeClock - I was referring to Darius Cozmic Collection 2. It will no doubt have its own CE released from Strictly Limited sometime down the road. I already have DCC1 on preorder from SLG.
Still annoys me how split the collections are/how expensive they are if you want everything.
Was always hoping one "complete" collection would get released here. Alas, I guess the Strictly limited two versions is the only way.
I'm kind of confused about this. I pre-ordered the the North American Cosmic Collection. Am I getting extra games?
This is interesting, because there's, uh, not really a ton of Darius left that wasn't covered by the first two Cozmic Collection releases. G-Darius (which really feels like it should have been on the first collection) is a given, of course. I suppose there's Super Darius I & II, and I guess if you're really stretching you could throw on the brand new port of Darius that was released on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Mini.
The elephant in the room is, of course, Dariusburst and its various permutations. I would LOVE to see that game on the Switch, but it seems like it would be a standalone release, surely? At least, Chronicle Saviors would be. The worst case scenario is that we'd just get an emulated version of the original PSP game...
I fear that Chronicle Saviours is a bit too "big" to feature on a compilation, but we can dare to dream!
Nice! I think these games used to be locked behind some absurdly expensive and rare collectors edition.
Omg so itās finally coming west and I just caved like a month ago and ordered both from strictly limited š I HATE when they do this crap!! Just being shooters they shouldāve been a worldwide release with very little text to translate!!
@joey302 if the Japanese eshop versions are anything to go by, the western digital editions will probably be comparable price-wise to the Strictly Limited standard versions, so youāre not wasting any money. The SLs will be the only physical releases, according to them, anyway.
@RadGravity well thx I guess I can take some comfort in that - but if physical western editions are coming this fall it still bugs me as i try not to import unless I know for sure a game is not coming here. I guess I was just too hot for the Darius Collections to hold back! š¤£
...G...Darius...oh...my...stars...
I would be absolutely gutted if it failed to make either compilation.
@joey302 youāre fine. The ones you (and I) ordered are the only physical versions coming out in the west, so you were right to order.
G Darius is great, but i really wonder what else they want to put on this collection. Maybe Metal Black?
@Mark-number-12 This is news relating to the Japanese version, not the international version, which we know contains these games (we reported as such last year: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/11/strictly_limited_is_bringing_darius_cozmic_collection_to_the_west_in_three_different_forms).
Always a good idea to read a post properly before commenting, I find.
@dharmajones93 @FLEEBS I believe the 'international' version is getting all of the games, bar the Game Boy version of Darius II, which was an Amazon pre-order exclusive.
@Damo Sweet! Thanks for the clarification.
