As The Wonderful 101: Remastered's mighty Kickstarter campaign rages on, more and more details are slowly being revealed for the now-confirmed Switch release.
Among them is an update regarding the technical performance we can expect to enjoy when the remaster hits new systems later this year. The information below comes from the Kickstarter's FAQ section, confirming a target of 60fps on Switch with a resolution of 1080p when docked:
Can you give us more information on the technical specifications for The Wonderful 101: Remastered?
Yes! The technical specs for each platform are:
Switch:
Resolution:Portable 720p/Docked 1080p
FPS:Targeted 60fpsPS4:
Resolution:PS4 1080p/PS4Pro 2160p
FPS: Targeted 60fpsSteam:
Resolution:1080p with Super Wide monitor support planned
FPS:Targeted 60fps
For comparison's sake, the Wii U original also had a target of 60fps but would often dip below that as the on-screen action got more intense. It had a resolution of 720p, however, meaning that the upcoming Switch version should look a little more crisp on your TV.
If you missed it, Hideki Kamiya recently shared some early design documents for the original game, and PlatinumGames released a video showing the very moment they saw the Kickstarter reach a whopping 100 million yen.

Nice and wonderful can't wait.
Considering what I remember of the game it should achieve all that relatively easily.
first time I've backed a Kickstarter but wanted the physical release. I'm looking forward to playing it again and if there are improvements then thats all the better. And it's only a couple months away too
Some of the puzzles required two screen play and were really clever. You could do it one screen off TV, but it was awkward (you needed to see two locations at the same time). I look forward to seeing how they manage this. Also (desperately) hoping for a "quick save & quit" option.
I should think so too
Well it's not like they would say "there be cases where the frame-rate may drop". All this confirms is they are aiming for a 60 FPS.
Still, Platinum games in the past have proven to be very good (look at Bayonetta on the Wii U), so I'm sure they will do their best to ensure it runs smoothly.
Do we know if this will be physical launch or digital with physical to backers?
Shouldn't all Wii u games be able to hit 1080p 60fps simply because they don't need to waste power on the gamepad.
Worthless. I won't buy it unless it's AT LEAST 61fps. But not any more than 63fps because, as of a week ago, I have to wear glasses now since my eyes have apparently started getting old.
Too bad it's not coming to Xbox One. Would have enjoyed this greatly on there. Maybe one day I'll snag the Switch version
@Kidfunkadelic83 Digital tiers with physical tiers, but not a tier with both.
@N1ntendodo thanks. Didnt know if it was only physical to people that have backed it. I didnt but will just get it upon release.
Wow. Even if I'm very tempted by the 4K experience on PS4 pro, I think I'll eventually get the Switch version... Cause this game is too Nintendo branded in my book. Plus, the benefits of going portable... I know, still the same old debate.
Who am I kidding ? Dumb as I am, I'm sure I'll come to get the Playstation AND the Switch versions.
@sixrings Unfortunately the Wii U’s CPU was trash, it was using much older architecture (based on the GC/Wii CPU) and was slower than the PS3/360 CPU. Gamepad makes very little difference sadly
Somebody should tell this to the sassmeisters over on the sister site, particularly the "gimped hardware" smart guy.
Backed for a Switch physical!
Will buy digital on Steam later on.
Not a shock. It's a 7-year-old mid-budget Wii U title. Hardly the most demanding title for any console to run these days. Appreciate this news will be big to some, but personally I'm more interested in the controls and Dlc.
PC can easily output 4k for this baby...
@Bobobiwan If it makes you feel any better I'll have the Switch version for portable play and the Steam version for modding so...
I feel I should get this on Switch but the PS4 Pro resolution is tempting AF.
@Dissident There's no way Sony will see my money for this game after their community review bombed the original version which hurt the sales and Platinum a lot. If Sony want to see my money they should play nice with competitors and stop using this scummy method.
@glaemay you are talking about rabid fans, not Sony. And there are rabid fans on all sides.
@glaemay I’ll repeat what @Dissident has said
Grow up and stop being a fanboy/girl and don’t let these stuff upset you. Have a good day
@Pichuka97 In the FAQ of the kickstarter page, they say Wonderful 101 will go on other plateforms soon after.
I don't believe Wonderful 101 will hit 60fps on Switch when it gets busy on screen (not a chance !) or even on PS4 Pro at 2160p. I really don't. W101 runs worst than Bayonetta 2 on WiiU and Bayonetta 2 don't hit 60fps on Switch.
I'll wait for the Digital Foundry analyze and if I'm right, I'll wait for the Xbox One X version.
Or maybe I'll buy the PS4 one when the PS5 release.
Errr... "PC: 1080p with Super Wide monitor support planned"
I am assuming that also everything in between. 1080p on my 2560X1600 monitor looks awful. It does not even fit the screen right
@smashboy2000 thanks for the heads up. Missed that. Yeah, time will tell. Platinum usually aims for a frame rate, but depending on the platform, how often it actually maintains it is a whole other story
Will it support hdr colors on ps4 pro?
This was the thing that was making me deside if I want to get it for PC or Switch. Having 60fps on both makes the choice even harder for me. No matter what it will be atleast it will be 60fps.
@erv probably not unfortunately, hdr support would be awesome tho
A 60fps in a 120fps world?!
Get outa here!
Nice, focus on Switch first and the rest later.
It should hit 101fps at 101p
Probably aiming for the Steam version for the prospect of Steam mods... Would I had the choice, Id get digital Steam and physical Switch as a collector’s item.
Anything that was on last console should be 60fps on the Switch anyways...
Well- I’m pumped for this! Good to see such an endearing title get the proper rerelease and love it so richly deserves. Can’t wait!
I still own that game on my Wii U. Never beat it🤔
@glaemay
Please tell me you’re aware that Sony didn’t send our it’s ‘fans’ to review bomb this game. Please tell me you know this.
@Dissident That's why games like Wonderful 101 or Astral Chain are reviw bombed but Persona 5 or Yakuza aren't. It's just a pure coincidence all fanbase are as bad lol
Yep, i backed it for the physcial version. I am excited for it! I already own it on Wii U, so i cant wait to add this to my collection.
