Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition was due to arrive on 23rd January until Square Enix decided to push the game back to summer 2020. The reason behind this decision was so the development team could make some final adjustments to the game, to ensure it was the best experience possible.
If you've been eager for an update, the good news is the game was recently rated by the Australia Classification Board. It's been given a 'PG' parental guidance rating for mild fantasy themes, violence and online interactivity. Take a look below:
This rating hopefully means an official release date or at least more details about the game are on the way. In case you forgot, this remastered version of the GameCube original allows you to play online with your friends and transfer your save file across all four versions (Switch, PS4, Android and IOS).
Will you be adding this game to your collection when it finally appears on Switch? Tell us below.

Imagine being Crystal Chronicles Remastered and trying to come out. lol
Where is the freaking Direct already??
I forgot this was on the way, to be honest. I'll double-dip if there's a Steam port on the horizon!
I have a couple friends who hold this game in high regard and are eager to get a party going online. I was already sold after hearing its soundtrack! I wouldn't mind a new trailer or showcase, though. A Direct would be a perfect opportunity to do that.
Blech. I did not enjoy the original at all.
@Borngis Crystal Chronicles Remastered has more trouble coming out than I did 😉
So I guess this means a retail version will come out? Looking forward to it.
@nessisonett i knew this would happen when i phrased it like that. thank you.
Interestingly, the classification decision is listed as "Modified" (which usually means that a previous classification decision, likely the GameCube original, was cited as a precedent in determining a new classification decision, which can help save on time and classification costs), so it could very well be the case that this is an enhanced port, as opposed to a full-blown remake.
@Quarth : Most likely, yes, however, I don't think Sony has yet permitted the use of IARC ratings on their storefronts, and still demands that traditional peer-reviewed classification decisions are made in order for software to be approved for sale via PSN, so there are some peer-reviewed classification decisions made that do not result in a retail release.
Peer-reviewed decisions are mandatory in Australia for retail releases though, so I would think that it is more than likely that a retail release is on the cards.
I know the original was not a smash hit, but for some reason I am excited for this one. I think it's the idea of playing through it with a friend.
Where is mah Nintendo Direct, Nintendo?
I enjoyed the first one as a single player game but it was terrible as a multiplayer game because one poor sod has to carry the lantern whilst the others fight.
@KingBowser : A localisation of Mother 3 is looking more likely these days.
I found this game very underwhelming back in the day. Bored me to tears!
@invictus4000 @KingBowser I think Nintendo delayed their February Direct because of the Corona virus, since that actually impacts the production of Switches.
@datamonkey Me too. And you know it was my very first time buying a Collectors edition since I never knew that such were a thing. So I decided whenever another FF game would come out I would be one of the people who will own a Collector edition. God the game was a huge letdown. Totally not the previous FF titles. I sold the game. It looked cute, but it wasn't a true RPG game.. and limited movement on places.. it was just like N64 game one RPG.. don't remember the name but it cames close to that one and that one scored quite poor a 5 or 6.
I played the GameCube version for the first time last week, and ended up loving this game.
@sanderev You do actually have a point there
I wish a release would be announced already. Been waiting for this game too long now.
@sanderev Nintendo likes shortages in production to make the product harder to find and therefore more desirable. If anything the virus plays into their hands.
Played the original. I had the most fun painting my moogle. I'll try a demo but probably not worth shelling out for.
I wonder how close this is to the DS version?
@RadioHedgeFund I see such comments alot and they sound always so dumb i used to carry the chalice in my group and had no issues with it you know you can just drop it and fight with your comrades lol iknow mindblowing 200 iq right there
I have put my order in this game. I look forward to it. Gladly joe!
