Yesterday, Nintendo and Universal Studios Japan revealed a new music video titled 'We Are Born To Play' for the upcoming Japanese theme park, Super Nintendo World. In the same trailer, we also got a brief glimpse of the wristband and app that will apparently "redefine" theme parks.
A Universal press release now shed some light on how exactly the "Power Up Band" and mobile app will come into play. They'll be used to complete "key challenges" with other attendees in boss battles, and collect coins, character stamps and earn achievements. Universal Creative CCO Theirry Coup added to this with the following comment:
Think of Super Nintendo World as a life-size, living video game where you become one of the characters. You're not just playing the game; you're living the game, you're living the adventure. Nintendo's most iconic locations and experiences will be brought to life, including the Mushroom Kingdom, Peache's Castle, an incredible Mario Kart ride, Bowser's Castle - and more.
Super Nintendo World is due to open within Osaka Universal Studios in time for the Summer 2020 Olympics. Park openings in Singapore and the United States will follow this. Are you eager to see and hear more about these Nintendo theme parks? Tell us below.

Can’t wait! I hope I can go some time
I'm interested, and I'd love to go to Japan for this but I just don't have the money...
Well Universal Japan is part of the "wake world", so I would assume to be awake you have to be alive.
I'd love to go! I went to Disney World as a child and as cool as it was, I couldn't help but imagine something even more important to me; a world full of Nintendo. They're finally making that childhood dream come true. Kudos to you Nintendo! You can bet that if/when I have a child I'll be taking them for this experience!
That plumber sure knows how to party
@Kalmaro If you're from the states I believe there will be one coming to Florida in the coming years. That should make it, somewhat, more affordable if you're in the continental US.
That's fantastic I hope they got more than just the Mario universe though.
@retro_player_22, For now, it's just the Mario universe. Maybe if it ends up being hugely successful maybe they'll expand it with other Nintendo properties.
I’d love to go and I am planning to save up to go to Japan anyway. Here’s hoping there’ll be an F-Zero ride that makes me barf as much as GX in VR did!

Peache's ?? 😕
It should be Peach's, right ? 😏
@Lemonyoshi Yeah, and I don't mind waiting but it's going to take so long...
Why do they have to overcomplicate things; just want a Nintendo themed amusement park.
@Anti-Matter 100%. NintendoLife get your editor out here and fix this typo! 😂
IRL mario kart should be lit.!! those mkart tours around the us that had actual boosts and digital but functional weapons you drove over always sounded cool. Cant wait to have a go X).
@Lemonyoshi I went to Disney World as a kid. And when I went in 2017 as an adult with my nieces, I couldn't believe how good it was. It was as good, if not better as an adult. I was shocked.
The theme park is a real life fortnite. Why can't Nintendo make a game like the trailer? 100 people fighting to reach the flagpole, with all Smash Bros characters as avatars.
Oh boy! I can't to get to stomp on Goombas to death!
I am excited to go one day. Really hope they expand it though, would love to just walk around a Hyrule Castle replica or hop on Samus' ship and shoot some space pirates! Or go to a world where it feels like I'm Pikmin sized and of course an Animal Crossing cafe & retail area to relax in
Super it-will-never-happen dreams? Sin & Punishment and F-Zero rides!
I'm off to Florida 2021. I doubt Nintendo World will be completed by then but I can hope
@Anti-Matter
If you're talking about more than one item, and the word ends with a h, you add es on the end (so witch > witches). If the word belongs to someone, you put: 's on the end (witch > witch's).
For example: Mario bought some peaches from the store and took them to Peach's Castle.
Hope that helps. The English language does have some strange rules.
Sure looks like Nintendo is broke.they built a theme park.that comment is for the haters that says they are doomed.if they was doomed they couldn5 build a theme park
I'm definitely excited for SNW as well.
Just trying to figure out how the Mario Kart ride is going to work. (Is it VR, 4D like Toy Story Mania, or something else?)
Starting a piggy bank now to make this trip... but I have to take my 2 sons so that's a lot of money!
@Welshland Swert,I'm going in a couple of months. Cant wait 😖😖
So, the floor is lava, then?
@Deljo; I hope you enjoy yourself. I am taking my 3 children next year the holiday alone is costing £8K without spending money.
