The Pan European Game Information board (commonly abbreviated as PEGI), has seemingly lifted the lid on the Mortal Kombat Kollection Online ahead of an official announcement.
If this rating is accurate, the game will be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch in the near future. A project from the team behind Mortal Kombat Returns and Mortal Kombat HD Remix was reportedly cancelled early on in 2018, but this rating suggests development could still be active.
Below is the PEGI description and a screenshot of the rating:
Mortal Kombat Kollection Online is the original Mortal Kombat trilogy that Mortal Kombat fans always wanted. Upgraded art, gameplay, and online features provide an incredible experience that revive the “klassics”…
According to a report from DSOGaming dating back to April last year, Ed Boon "loved" the playable version of Mortal Kombat Returns when he first saw it, but Warner Bros. felt it couldn't allow such an "important project" to be developed by an unproven team.
Have you been waiting for a Mortal Kombat Kollection like this? Let us know in the komments.

These are the types of games I blind buy on the switch and semi regret latter. That said I wish ACA was bringing it over. Either way. "Get over here!!!!"
PORTABLE KOMBAT!!!!
These "Klassic" games sound cool but how about the first two reboot M.K. titles? Mortal Kombat X for the NX!
The first Mortal Kombat games never came to the virtual console, so this is definitely good news.
It could be tantalising if there is a physical release.
But I'd be more keen on Mortal Kombat 11 if they release a complete edition with everything on cartridge. I won't hold my breath though.
I hope these games are remastered and they remove the “rubber band” arcade difficulty system from MK 2 and 3. It’s infuriating when the CPU reads your inputs and counters you perfectly.
Mortal Kombat Trilogy Online? Or a Trilogy or Mortal Kombat games with Online?
If this is the same team that worked on the cancelled project, then that’s really cool. Maybe they worked it out?
Classic MK on Switch?? Yes please!!
@sixrings If it was an ACA it wouldn't have online multiplayer, so no thanks. Online multiplayer is the best thing about this WB release.
Day 1 buy forsure I have it on the ps3 o would love it on the switch
I'd love a Midway Arcades Classics collection for the Switch. Get the old Atari 80s arcade games (Paperboy, Marble Madness, Roadblasters, Super Sprint, 720, etc.), plus their own collection of games (Defender, Sinister, Joust, Robotron, Smash TV, Tapper, NARC, Spy Hunter, Rampage, etc.)
What about MK 4 and trilogy? How about an expansive collection including the spinoffs, DA, Deception and Armageddon ?
@SuperWeird I know it's OCD but I'd rather have the aca icon on my switch then online which I won't use since there's no voice chat so I don't see the point.
@kingbk specifically what you meant to say was Rampage World Tour
@GameOtaku I would like to see port of the Gold version of Mortal Kombat 4 and the popular spinoff Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks.
Wow if this is true, then having this and Street Fighter 30th anniversary collection would make any fighters collection Komplete.
@Jokerwolf I think it's the original three Mortal Kombat collection with extras and online content
It's the "Online" part that worries me. Will we have these games forever when they decide to shut the servers down? I worry about that part. Or, does "Online" simply mean that you can play the original-style games online?
@GameOtaku It's frustrating that they ignore everything from MK4 to Armageddon. I get those games are considered a "low point" of the franchise but they're still classics titles in their own right and should be held to higher esteem. Arcade Kollection and 3D Kollection to compile the entire franchise pls Netherrealm.
WB should first invest in bringing CrossPlay in MK11 to Switch like Xbox and PS4. Before trying to sell more versions.
@MasterGraveheart I’m taking it as online simply means the ability to fight people online. I’m assuming you can play solo or local multiplayer “forever”
Finally, Mortal Kombat 1 uncensored on a Nintendo system! I hope I can also play as Goro, Reptile, and Shang Tsung, and actually throw my opponents in single player instead of just punching them in the chest.
@Robzilla I still remember trying to throw opponents and getting thrown myself as soon as I press low punch. It felt like the computer forgot who I was controlling for a split second.
What I've read elsewhere its remastered versions of the 3
These games were fun for the time, but the fighting feels a bit stiff compared to the Capcom and SNK fighting games. It’s worth picking up on a good sale though.
With the amount of age rating leaks that have been happening recently, there has to be a Direct soon. I can't imagine Nintendo won't miss the opportunity to herald having Bioshock, the Klassic Kombats, or another Saint Row game.
I only half joke when I say this: this Kolletion better include the Game Boy version of the first game! For Kompletenes sake 🙃
I really just want a port of MK9 and MKXL. I already had enough of the old games.
@MasterGraveheart I don't think that's anything to panic about. It'll probably be more like Street Fighter Anniversary Collection where online just becomes a new feature to the games.
Well it's about time! This will be the first time in history the entire original trilogy arcade versions are released on a Nintendo system so that's pretty awesome! We all know what happened with the snes original. Shame this won't include MK 4 though. It hasn't had a re release since it first arrived in 97.
I'm one of the few who stuck with this series since the beginning. I own and mostly enjoyed every main entry. Seriously i was obsessed!
MORTAL KOMBAT!
I am hoping all of the 1upArcade collections get released
Cool. I was wondering why there wasn't a compilation like on the PS3 and Xbox 360. I hope there's a physical version but I doubt it.
Kombat Klassics Kollection! Or KK...wait.
No Sub Zero Mythologies, no buy
@GravyThief
I am one of the few who liked that game! Sure it's got tons of flaws but i had such a good time with it i actually re rented it from blockbuster video (if you know what that is) It was due to be returned but i hadn't finished it yet so i paid extra to keep it longer.
@Robzilla When you play MK 2 if you jump and don't press kick right away the cpu will think there won't be any action. If you master the right input at right time when you jump/kick you will have that CPU in your power. That's how I beated MK2. You just have to fool the CPU a bit by input a command a bit later so it's like you're not doing anything and so CPU moves a bit different. However it's kinda lame that you have to do that in each battle after the 2nd battle... after that the CPU gets harder. But when you lose it's like the CPU gets a bit easier... and when you lose again the CPU is like from the 2nd battle and easily to be beating... I bet they used that system so people would keep playing the game and pay more. Well tha'ts business
Kerri Hoskins > Ronda Rousey
Such a shame about MK HD, it looked amazing.
@Robzilla ALL THE TIME, at first when reading about this collection I was enthousiastic, but the memory of the horribly unfair CPU opponents and my enthusiasm started to wane.
Yessss I will be getting this
@MasterGraveheart
I would hope it's the latter but you never know in this day and age.
That's one of the things I hate about today's gaming with endless patches and updates.
If I fire up an old SNES game now I can be sure it plays exactly as intended but with modern consoles if you pick up a retro game in 20 years time the likely hood is (with the servers long since switched off) you'll be buying half a game full of all manor of bugs
Kool, Kan’t wait.
@Zeldafan79 to be fair, I have never played it but from what I’ve seen it does look quite bad, almost comically bad! I would actually like to own it for my N64, more out of morbid curiosity than anything else. But like Superman 64, despite how bad it is, it must have a cult following as it’s not the cheapest N64 game to get, at least here in the UK.
Can we get the rest of Midway’s Arcade Treasures please 😀
aaahhh yiisssss. I'm gonna be all over this.
@GravyThief
Yeah it is like i said very flawed in execution. A neat idea that could have been done better but somehow i still enjoyed myself. I think the worse part was the controls. You had to press a button to turn sub-zero the opposite direction rather than just pressing left on the d pad for example. I think if you're a big sub-zero fan like me and have alot of patience you may find it's not so bad. Now shaolin monks there's a good MK spinoff! Best played with a friend though.
Superman 64 does suck! Stay the hell away from that game!
Cool but it better also include the "Trilogy" game.
That was awesome.
Also, why don't they include Shaolin Monks?
Hopefully it's better than the Arcade Collection that was released on the 360/ps3. That was horrifically laggy.
Have an easy mode please.
@Gerald That's what I'm waiting for too, love my sf cabinet
@GAMER1984dude2 It's not the same. This will be a completely remastered in "today's" graphics. Meaning it will look more modern than that back in the 90s.
I'd love to have these games again, modernized graphics or not, but hopefully the price is right. I can't do it for $59.99.
@DockEllisD oops forgot about that. Great time to be a 2D fighting fan!
This is awesome news. MK1 and MK2 are my favorites still. And updated graphics? Online play? AWESOME! It will be great beating the snot out of each other online, since I really prefer the simple control scheme of the early games.
@sixrings wow yes correct. I buy almost all switch games (with rules applied. Ie I do not buy pedo-aimed games like those ones with Japanese girls in their underwear, or ones developed by bad people. I tend to avoid games that look too cheap also. Let me tell you I have numerous 400gb microsd cards full and it’s getting a pain organising them. I need to write an article about it as some point)
Any who yes some games I have high hopes for but they turn out to be really bad and I regret ever giving money to the devs for them.
@MarzipanD what do you mean “leggy”?
@Mynameishello laggy
Here's hoping some Kombat characters can make it into smash
Long overdue. Great to have MK back on a Nintendo console after the long drought we experienced in the Wii/Wii U eras.
Scorpion for Smash Bros
I wish they would release Mortal Kombat Trillogy instead. It holds up a little better than the individual games.
Cool now how about the rest of the Midway arcade classics you’re sitting on Warner Bros??
Paperboy
Gauntlet 1&2
Rampage series
Defender
Joust
Robotron 2084
Satan’s Hollow
Vindicaters
Hydro Thunder
San Francisco Rush series
Marble Madness
Crusin USA
Klax
Gorf
Wizard of Wor
Just to name a few!
@joey302 gauntlet legends called to 1080p please
@sixrings If ACA did this it wouldn't have any online multiplayer only online thing they do is high scores which aren't that important in a 1 on 1 fighting game
pretty bad when the Xbox 360 era has proper online multiplayer for basically all of it's arcade games/Sega Genesis that had any form of multiplayer/co-op and here we are in 2020 with the Switch that lacks this basic thing unless it's a Nes/Snes game PS4 also has this problem but at least has that share play feature which fixes the issue somewhat
That's sweet, been wanting to play the original MK games on modern hardware/more specifically the Switch.
@kingbk Yeah a bit of Smash TV and Total Carnage would not go amiss...the twin sticks are already there.
@ClassSonicSatAm they have good filters.
@sixrings I’ll take that one too!! 👍👍
Will this have the awesome and hugely underrated Sub-Zero platformer game included?
Yeah, I can't say that with a straight face...
More than a year later, nothing.
So where the heck is it? Blah..
