Original Story - Thu 17th Oct, 2019 03:01 BST: A Hat In Time is out this week on the Nintendo Switch and to celebrate, Gears for Breakfast has revealed the base game and Seal the Deal will eventually be joined by the Nyakuza Metro downloadable content.
It's apparently "coming soon" but won't include the Online Party mode, which was achieved using Steam networking API. Below is the official Twitter announcement:
Nyakuza Metro was originally revealed for the PC version of the game back in April and is already available on Steam. Here's a bit about it and the original announcement trailer:
Welcome to the deep underground Nyakuza Metro! It's the perfect place for a little lying, a little cheating... a little stealing. Join the Nyakuza and become mad rich - joining a gang never turned out bad, right?
Nyakuza Metro introduces an all-new chapter with 10 new Time Pieces, a new sticker system, new flairs, new dyes, a new weapon, a new purple Time Rift and more!

I've been contemplating getting the physical version, as my microSD card is almost full. But the game is getting more DLC anyways, so...
R.I.P. regardless, SD card.
**sad trumpet music**
Wow that song in the trailer was AMAZING
Will be getting this game, but not on launch. Feeling stressed out because I have so much to play already!
Still haven't committed to preordering the physical version but leaning towards getting it I think. Still got a little while to decide thanks to the delay.
I just love that they showed the Switch with something other than the ugly neon red and blue or the simple grey joycons. The Switch has a whole bunch of colors but most first party Nintendo marketing seems to ignore them.
I already have this twice, love it, will totally buy for switch, just not necessarily at launch. Great to see the other dlc is coming... my pc struggles to run it, so having it on switch will be grrrrrreat!
@BenAV delay? It comes out tommorow!
@Alpha008 I mean the physical version.
I CALL THE PHYSICAL VERSION, YOU CANT HAVE IT
I've been looking forward to this game so long, I'm not sure I can wait another 3 weeks for physical to release.
YES!!! Now I can fully happily buy the Switch version. So excited to buy this game as I've been watching its progress since 2013! Thank you Gears for Breakfast!
Day and date digital. This was part of my original switch indie want triad, consisting of this, slime rancher, and Subnautica. The only thing that pushed me away from it for a bit was the Aladdin/Lion King pack, but this has taken the spot, especially since I've been wanting a new 3d platformer recently but being scared off of Spyro 3 because of reports of glitches. SO EXCITED!!!
I will be waiting for the physical.
Physical is not out until the 9 November, and it does have the "Seal the Deal" DLC on it, but now theres this one too.... shame really.
Won't stop me getting it though to add the the massive backlog.
It's so odd how far we've come from "We can't develop A Hat in Time for the Switch, it's impossible to get the engine working on it." to "We got it working on Switch and somehow got all the DLC working on it through a method we cannot replicate for other consoles."
I honestly feel bad for all the poor players that bought the game on other consoles and now are stucked with an inferior version that can't get the DLCs XD
...
...
... wait, I am one of those players! ...this is not fair ;w;
I though the whole point was that the devs wanted the PC version to be the ultimate version and because of that they wouldn't release all the DLC on console releases. I'm sure I remember hearing something like that at some point.
But if they did never in fact say that or have gone back in that then I do have some mild interest towards getting this game.
I forgot this was coming. Seriously my backlog is absolutely ridiculous right now. And that's with Luigi's Mansion just around the corner too! Almost enough to make you miss the fallow Wii U days...
According to nintendoeverything the physical version has been delayed untill 8th november!
So the other consoles don’t have online party either?
It's on my radar, but i'll wait until i've cleared a few games off the backlog first. Luigi's Mansion is in about 2 weeks, and Pokemon is a few weeks after.
I haz this on my PC so probs won't be buying at launch, but totally recommend if you do not have it yet.
Definitely picking up the physical copy. That, Luigi's Mansion 3, and my backlog will keep me quite busy for the next few months.
When did A Hat in Time go all Saints Row?
I told you guys it would come as a DLC. I also hope more worlds will be added in the future.
@Expa0 it is the ultimate version because that one still has online party. They would have to develop an entirely new server for the switch to run it, and I doubt it would be able to run it thoroughly with 50 players.
@Alpha008 My PC has an 8 core, 16 thread cpu 16GBs of ram and an overclocked sapphire RX580 8GB....
and even that struggles to run metro. The game's optimization is not great but the game is so good it doesn't matter much. However, in metro it was taken to another level of bad.
My save is forever broken by not being able to access the rift in the world because it decided to spawn one of the relic items and make it just disappear into the ether.
...also MP in hat in time is also not that great. All players just play independent of one another. They only see each other with no physical or even story interaction. Looks pretty odd at times though.
@Varelius F, man. That's gotta suck. Can you restart it so you can respawn the item in its original spot?
@Dakotastomp I'd have to make a new save entirely. Which I don't want to do as this save was my 100% completion save.
Now its 100% never gonna be 100% again. lolz. To play the rift...i'd have to do a new game and pray the game doesn't decide to throw the relic off a ledge with a kill zone below it.
@Varelius That sucks, dude. Hope it doesn't happen to the Switch version as well.
@SCAssassin I mean, performance is kinda bad in some areas and loading times are awful, but I think its still amazing that they got Unreal to work on the switch, considering how... incompatible... it is with the system.
@Topaz542 Even then they're WORKING on fixing launch problems, meanwhile the other consoles have been radio silent outside of "we'll keep you posted on DLC we guess" and they still have their own launch problems.
I'm glad i got this game last weekend, the cartridge. It is charming, and fun. It's better than I expected.
Side note : Had to YouTube how to turn the faucets in mafia town.
Let me know when they fix the performance problems in handheld mode.
This is a game that I really want to play and like but all the technical issues makes it really hard to justify buying.
@BenAV
Gotta say the technical issues arent that big at least it wasnt for me.
Some frame rate dropping but besides that not much
I picked up a physical copy for Switch and I love it. If you like 3D platformers, this is one you won't want to miss. It's very Nintendo-like. I'll be purchasing any DLC released for the Switch version.
Wasn't this included in the physical version?
@SCAssassin well, the developers are really, really small... they won’t have a huge number of staff to spread around
I heard the Switch port had quite a few bugs on release but I'm interested in trying this game out. Have their been any patches yet?
