Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection was originally scheduled to arrive on the Switch and multiple other platforms next year on 21st January and has now been delayed until 25th February. That's about a month after the planned release.
In a video announcement, the Mega Man series producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya explained how the team wanted to deliver the "best experience possible" and revealed the decision was not made lightly. He went on to thank fans for their patience and understanding.
As disappointing as this might be for die-hard Rockman fans, it's fortunately not anywhere near as devastating as the time when Nintendo's Shinya Takahashi appeared on-screen and revealed the development of Metroid Prime 4 had been scrapped and restarted.

Aw, dangit. But it's only a month. Rather things be right from the get go, yeah?
They should've made Inti Creates handle it.
At least it's only a month!
A month is a small price to pay for a collection that has my favorite Mega Man game on Switch.
At least it shows Capcom is now really caring about how good their games are
With so many games that have come out this year in our backlogs, delays are honestly appreciated at this point.
And yes, as long as they make it as flawless and awesome as possible, delays will be forgiven.
With all the games that is coming/is out, A little delay for improvements wouldn’t hurt nobody.
@Wavey84 Is this a common thing? I have never noticed it.
Wonder if they'll do a Battle Network Collection after this. If they did, I question if they'd include games like the WonderSwan release, Network Transmission, Battle Chip Challenge, or Battle Network 4.5. Considering the OG Legacy collection didn't include Megaman and Bass and really should have, I wouldn't be surprised to see such side games not included in such a release, despite the fact that they should.
The good side to this, is that we can try to catch up with the Switch games we don't have. In my case, I'm buying all the mainline 3DS FE games and Three Houses. Not to mention that I want Zero/ZX Collection and other games.
The Last of Us Part 2, The Zero Legacy Collection and Persona 5 Scramble all come out in February, DOOM Eternal and P5R come out the following month, Trials of Mana and Cyberpunk 2077 come out in April and then the Square Enix Avengers game from Crystal Dynamics is in May
FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
A month is as tame as delays get. Maybe I’ll finally have Dragon Quest XI wrapped by then 😅
if it was any other company i might believe the "they're going to make it as good as possible" but it kind of falls flat with capcom
regardless, a month is nothing
Eh a month no biggie. Better done well than done fast. Now how bout a battle network collection including the star force games since they are technically a continuation of BN?
Better delayed than bloodstained.
It was tricky, but I finally managed to secure a pre-order for the Megaman + Megaman X Legacy Special Box collection (Japan only sadly, so importing is necessary, but the box has room for the Zero/ZX collection as well ^^), so it's a bit of a bummer it'll arrive before Zero/ZX does, but I can wait ^_^
It's good to see that Capcom now, for once atleast, cares about the quality of their releases on Switch, and here's hoping to them doing Battle Network and Star Force collections... and I personally am hoping for a Megaman Gameboy collection.
Let me guess......someone at the last minute decided maybe it isn’t great to have input lag worse than playing it on something like retroarch? It better be that. Please don’t let the lag be worse than free emus, that really gets me upset...
The delay better not be them planning to put half the games on the cartridge.
Hopefully this is to make sure that the jump & shoot buttons are where they're supposed to be.
I don't really understand why they could possibly delay it. The work is already done! The Zero collection on DS had everything they needed minus ZX and Advent.
@duffmmann I would have to imagine next would either be the Battle Network games or the Legends games (Granted there's only 3 games in that series, but they're 3D ones so it should be enough. Failing that, put the N64 version on there too.). Then if they're really desperate for more MM money, a Spin offs collection. Megaman and Bass and the entire Gameboy series would be strong enough titles alone to counter out the niche and bad ones like Megaman Soccer and such.
It gives me more time to finish other games, so it's not a problem.
If only Gamefreak could have learned this simple lesson so easily too, instead of releasing the game in the sorry state it's in.
That totally explains why The Last of Us Part 2 got delayed out of February. Ellie fears Zero.
@NinjaSyao
It was "tricky"? You "managed it"?
Where did you order it? I pre-ordered the box from Amazon.co.jp months ago, and they're still accepting pre-orders.

Delay or no delay is irrelevant to me if it's another outsourced dev AND a partial download game, but we'll see what happens...
Yes, because 'fans'. Just as Game Freak lol. SO level-headed.
@nin10dobot
Reports for the Zero and ZX Legacy Collection are that they're using the original game source code to rebuild it to the new platforms, and that all games will be available on a single cartridge under a single title.
This is as opposed to the X Legacy Collections which were two separate titles, with the second being a digital download for anyone purchasing both in a single package, and the games being emulated.
The only way to get a physical copy of X Legacy Collection 2 was to import the standalone copy from Japan.
It's looking like the Zero and ZX Legacy Collection will be a far better package anyway, even if Inti Creates are not directly involved with this one.
It looks like they're putting an unusual amount of effort into this one, based on the first trailer, so this sounds fine. Unfortunate for those who were expecting it sooner, of course, but at least it wasn't planned to be released before the end of this year, anyway.
@RupeeClock
That would be cool since Capcom bungled the first two Switch collections. I sure wouldn't mind a "Miscellaneous" Mega Man collection for various odd and end titles. I want to get Mega Man Powered Up off my PSP and onto my Switch.
I was totally expecting the "It's nowhere near as bad as..." to be something a little more franchise-relevant and a little less time-relevant... coughLEGENDS3cough Haha, it was so utterly disappointing. Bleh.
Delays are fine, because as Miyamoto taught us... a delayed game is eventually good, while a bad game (at least in the pre-patch world) is bad forever.
Delays would have been a pretty good option for a game that has been released today, but I can understand there's merch to be sold.
Good thing I recently replayed them all. Still can't wait to play them with a Pro Controller. Honestly I hope it puts ZX back in their brains so we can have a finale to that series. I mean Legends 3 is most likely never coming back.
@Multifists This is a very well made and well researched video about a thing I have never noticed. Thanks.
As long as this ensures that the games are as good as they can possibly be I’m fine with this.
Take as long as you need guys. I'd rather a good game, then a buggy one.
@NinChocolate They found somd nasty bugs in the code. That's why its being delayed.
@sinnersandwich Think they can get Inti to work on the third entry?
@nin10dobot I second this.
@Tempestryke
Dude if only.
Are they trying to figure out how to not be able to fit such tiny games on a cart?
I'm glad it was delayed. After Link's Awakening, Luigi's Mansion 3 and a few other discounted games from Halloween sale, I burned all my savings. My wallet needs to recover.
@RupeeClock
Ordered from Nin-nin games and yeah, I know that Amazon still accepts pre-orders, but they are a lot more expensive.
